Day #3 Cycling the Length of England in a Straight Line!

Following a few successful years of straight line missioning inspired by Geowizard, we decided to branch out into an all new field of the sport: Straight Line Cycling!
We were aiming for a factor of 100 of a walking Straight Line Mission. That might sound like a lot but it turned out to be extremely challenging as you'll see!

Cycling these distances is going to be a lot easier than the ultra marathons he runs. Not that that makes them easy, especially on their insanely crappy bikes lol.

Ever since watching/reading Geowizard's videos, I've made it a tradition in my content to write out proper subtitles. For people who are hard of hearing (like myself) or suffer with other disabilities, subtitles are an absolute must. Thank you boys for the inclusivity and for thinking of us deaf folk x

Released on a day Adam the Animal achieved 3rd in is Age Group at Ironman Wales. 15th overall, on a borrowed bike, in a ripped Tri suit and pair of trainers I bet had a whole in.

Little Bike Shops like that are so good. I wss saved on a tour by a similar one who replaced my freehub to let me continue on my way. Legends. Good effort here, would have beeb easy to quit.

Geowizard: 100 meter deviation = fail. Archie: took a train = dirty platinum 😋. You guys are fantastic, but that's why you go as a team. Adam can keep going and Archie can be support from here on (this time), including having a working bike for you to sub out. And this can be a good strategy for next time!

Suggestion, If you get helicopter you can travel perfectly straight line and stay within platinum zone next time ^^

I rode 300 km in the last 3 days, in the best weather we've ever had in september, with 0 technical problems, so it is wonderful to watch the unprepared Fieldhouse boys struggle, it really makes me feel smug and superior. Thanks!

Geowizard asked for it. His downfall after he faced competiton was his own fault. Basically there were flaws in his concepts before, just remember to continue beyond the agreed camp site without telling his girlfriend messing up a whole evening. And basically, while Ally's Adventurs with a somewhat bendy definition of straight (pun intended) and especially Marcus The Chess Teacher and his poorly prepared trips made Tom look a pro, it were Archie and Adam who showed that he was not. He had the idea, his first trips were well planned, but the more pressure he got, the poorer his performances went. So nothing others should face as karma. Tom harvested his own share of it for what he did. And so did The Fiedhouse Boys this time. ATB were plainly not the right choice for a trip that required MTB.
@@MirkoC407 The videos that entertain me most are the ones where things do go wrong. Crap bikes were good choice for entertainment value imo. I tune in to Tom & Marcus for the mishaps: Norway peat bog, camping police visit and bothy hypothermia were classic moments.

It shows what you can do on some of the worst bikes ever ..pure scrap. Be good to see a similar challenge across Scotland (avoiding towns etc) on a quality MTB and more within a normal straight line challenge platinum threshold!

The low quality of your bikes in the UK is astonishing. It's like you took a road bike and put offroad tires on it and changed nothing else. You dont have actual mountain bikes in the UK?

Any half decent gravel or mountain bike would have no issue with the terrain really..I felt sorry for them riding those things, but maybe they picked them for the inevitable mechanicals

Probably because they knew the only one with a real chance was Adam and they had to get him on a proper bike for that. So it was either abandon and let Adam borrow the best bike or everybody fails. No way the other 3 could have done 140km in ~7 hours.

it's a lot worse in the moment than it looks through a screen. Archie (and especially Adam) make it look a lot easier than it is.
First attempt at something rarely ends with full success. Im sure you'll get more experienced next time. Also why not use bikes with disc brakes? Those last way longer.
You lads always seem like your not dressed appropriately for the circumstances. Don't worry, as you get older you'll learn.
I get hot when cycling and running, and wear very little. Though yes you can easily get cold once you stop, especially if you're sweaty.
