You can't generalize these. A Camaro ZL1 1 LE or Mustang GT500 Track Package do lap times in the region of serious supercars. The Dodges are good for drag racing BUT ONLY on prepped surfaces. You know on a prepped surface with slicks the Challenger would smoke them both hard. They should have added a burnout contest. That is really where the higher HP Challengers shine and are the most fun.
@@lisam4503 It'd get even more bus lengths put on it if it was prepped, also its dumb to design a car where you can't get traction on any other surface other than a prepped which you'll never drive on
That version was designed to run on fully prepped race tracks. Basically its a factory drag race car built for the strip. The same thing with the new Demon 170. Once you hit X amount of HP and torque traction becomes an issue. @@Scamp125
@@Scamp125 Don't know if you're from outside the US, but over here you can generally find an NHRA-approved 1/8 mile drag strip within 2 hours of wherever you live. Drag racing is pretty accessible and affordable, so a lot of Super Stocks are going to see a prepped strip. Most people who race on the street do 60 rolls anyways, so the ones that don't go to the strip will be kicking ass elsewhere. Also - and I'm saying this as a BMW fan - no way in hell the M3 wins with prep. The best part about prep is the traction advantage, and the M3 is the car which would benefit significantly less from prep. The AWD system means it's launching nearly as hard as it would on a prepped strip, so it would only really gain a few tenths from 0-60. By contrast, the Dodge is on big sticky drag tires. WIth prep and the chance to get some heat in the tires, the Dodge could likely cut a full second or more off its 0-60, putting it neck-and-neck with the M3 off the line. Then, of course, the power:weight advantage kicks in. Now, if we're talking tuned M3, I'm singing a different tune, but stock for stock on prep is an easy victory for the Challenger.

Unfortunately it wasn't fair for the smart. It still performed admirably, but to use the full 428hp you need to have a battery charge level of at least 80%. In the rolling race the value of the state of charge can be seen in the bottom left corner. At 10:51. It's 58%. With this state of charge the car has much less power than with 85-100%. Probably about 70% percent of it's full 428hp. I know this because I own the car. Would be nice if this car is featured in future drag races that you at carwow charge it fully, so it can show its full potential. :) Would have definetly beaten the Dodge in the drag race...

it killed both of them in the rolling races
The only way is being less fat...
2 tons! 😱
i would say i did great except for the launch but it still smoked the m3 in the rolling race.
And Mat stop doing burnouts before launch
You can't generalize these. A Camaro ZL1 1 LE or Mustang GT500 Track Package do lap times in the region of serious supercars. The Dodges are good for drag racing BUT ONLY on prepped surfaces. It's only normal that an 800+ hp front-engined and heavy coupe will struggle a lot with traction on an unprepped surface.
Amazed by how much traction that dodge is getting. Last time you guys drag raced the demon that thing couldn’t stop doing a burnout the whole way through
0:26 WRONG INFO!! The most powerful Challenger is Demon 170 with 1025hp. +200hp difference
Frrr
That M3 is an absolute beauty
This is the first American car win in Carwow's history, bravo! 👏👏👏
First American car to win a car wow race? Guess you never heard of Tesla?
Jeep Trackhawk won from an Audi.
@@TonyStone3000 I mean the internal combustion engine car
@@BJ-wn7yy I must have missed that one

I would like to see you guys drag race the BMW Z3 against the BMW Z4 E85 and BMW Z4E89! - first with the tops up, then with tops down but windows up and lastly with the tops and windows down. All three cars should be manual transmission.
Finally mr watson hit the break with everything he got, I would like to see this kind of action in next videos ❤
Maybe.
This video really showcases the evolution of car engineering! A 1.9 tonne Smart SUV competing fiercely, the BMW's impressive switch to beast mode in 4WD, and the sheer power of the Challenger - it's a brilliant mix of technology and raw power. Also, can we take a moment to appreciate the unsung heroes? The lady doing the countdown and Sam, who managed to make BMW shine in RWD mode. It's not just about the cars, but the people making these tests so entertaining and informative! #CarWowMagic 🚗💨🔥
The smart would have won easily without the limiter
That “Reel him in COME ON” by Matt at 5:17 was the most badass he’s ever sounded. Love them or hate them, nothing pumps your T levels live an American muscle car
Hellcat is king 🇺🇸
Great job how Matt handled that car 🔥🔥 that’s impressive…. BMW never disappoint by the way ❤
After seeing so many sub 11 second times on this channel I'm amazed how slow the Dodge is.
It’s spinning what do u except
Would've been an easy win for Dodge if not for Matt:
1) it's not America - it's 'Murica!
2) you don't scream "cOme On", you scream "U-S-A! U-S-A!"
Being American, that was a hilarious video. I am shocked the Challenger did that good in the brake test. I would also like to see how the m3 vs challenger would be on a prep surface.
@@Scamp125There is 0 chance that m3 is winning on prepped surface.
That Smart is the first EV I think I like - genuinely funny performance for the looks. 12.1 in the 1/4 is quick!
Rimac? That's the only electric car I'll like
id feel like Noddy if i had to drive that

Love the drag race, would love to see the dodge attempt a corner though!
Great video! Was really hoping to see Matt swap with Sam to see if he could nail the launch in the challenger!
To get the best launch out of that challenger you need a prepped surface. That's a low 10s, high 9s car with the right setup
Otherwise it's just crap
it isnt , I had my v6 chally in 2011 and it was amazing , comfy , it has room in the back for friends its actually big and fits people . Reliable and I even rallyed the car in dirt and treated it like crap, never said ouch and when it did after 11 years I sold it @@sylvaind.6786
Else it loses.
@sylvaind.6786 well it did win 2 out of 3 tests 🤡 🤡 🤡
THE CAMERA CUTTING ON MATT AS HE IS ABOUT TO CURSE KILLED ME AT THE BRAKE TEST
At first I thought: “what a wacky line up.” This was actually a good race. Sam is one hell of driver!
Congradualations to dodge for making the worlds fastest boat!
😅😅😅😅I seen those tanks do 12 second pass still sad though 😅😅
The most powerful Challenger ever made is the demon 170
I wasn't expecting such good brakes! The Charger really surprised me! That American muscle car is a very good look car, but i don't understand well the performance... probably it's not able to manage that huge power. I don't know, I'm not an expert. Thanks for the video.
The semi slick tires may have favorised that.
I’m quite impressed the BMW won against that Dodge in RWD mode. The dodge is supposed to be built for straight drags yet somehow still lost. Which is nuts.
It's cause here in the USA the drag strips are really sticky and the roads their aren't prepped
@@andrewp9309 lol so you’re telling me, even under terrible road conditions AND running RWD, the Beemer still kicked that dodges ass. How is that any better?! 💀💀💀
The rear end gear ratio in the Challenger Hellcat is 2.62:1, which would expect the fall face first off the line, but the kick in the ass pulling power once up to speed.
@@andrewp9309agree.
The Challenger left the BMW for DEAD in the roll races. If you want to drag, you need race slicks
You should grab a Ford F150 Raptor R and put it head to head with a Ram TRX and a Chevy Silverado or something else
A very unexpected drag race. So much fun. All the cars did great. Especially the smart. So quick! M3 Touring for me any day
Hellcat is king 🇺🇸
Long live the muscle car!
Hey instead of a hellcat you should see if someone would let you use a srt demon 170
Hey Matt and Carwow team ! Awesome video as always ! Is it possible to show the speed of each car when you cross the line in the rolling races ? That would be awesome, thanks :)
Nice.
Carwow does this on purpose to nerf all evs and has been doing it for years and years NOW!
I love when Matt says “come on America!!!!”😂
Congratulations, Challenger !
You have beaten a Smart by hair... 🤣👍
The sound of that dodge tho..😍😍
High fuel costs for shit performance. The sound can’t save it
The dodge challenger demon 170 is the most powerful challenger ever made.
Wow dodge flying on the rolling fair play, but day to day real life, a family hatch is beating it off the line at traffic lights I'd be embarrassed to be honest.
its embarassing to race off the line in a car that wont go around bends
Dodge made it so it could be used at a dragstrip not at street lights. It needs a prepped surface. It will be in the 10s at the dragstrip and the BMW will still run a 11.2-11.3
@@PazLeBonthe dodge is the best car to do Burnouts. Its very easy to drift and schred tires with this car , and its comfortable for long distance rides. Thats why these dodges are so popoluar in the USA.

BMW casually slapping up a 6.2 litre V8 trash box, that is also “specialised” in race drags. 😂
In the real world these little fast EV’s like the brabus and MG4 are the quickest things on the road. Nothing is quicker up to motorway speeds this side of a supercar. It’s pretty impressive 👏
In the real world, EVs are the slowest things on the road because the owners are all trying to conserve battery. But I get what you're saying. ;)
