    DC stands for Detective Comics.
Before Superman and Batman DC started off with characters like Jack Woods; Texan Lawman, Sandra of the Secret Service, Slam Bradley and Doctor Occult.
DC was first launched in 1937. during their second series Action Comics was launched with issue #1 starring Superman in 1938 and DC #27 starring The Batman came out in 1939.
Major Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson owned the publishing company for both these titles.

It's like in Avengers : Age of Ultron when some people were asking why Tony didn't just draw the Hulk away from that city he was levelling.
And you're like "Really? How's he gonna do that? Reason with him logically and make a well-considered and rational argument to convince him?"
      Same thing here.
Zod had one aim, which was NOT to fight Superman, but rather the destroy as much as he could and kill as many humans as possible.
There's was no drawing him away from that.
It was ultimately what justified Superman having to kill him to get him to stop, because like he said, he'd never stop and there was no prison on Earth that would ever be able to hold him.

Too bad that is it overshadowed by the fact that the scene itself is stupid. I love the movie but that scenario is just not good, the original version where Jonathan dies of a heart attack makes way more sense, it showed that not even Superman can prevent certain deaths, a Tornado scenario however he could, and even if people saw him they could just blame it on the Tornado situation.

      @xxorcaFn ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@DarknessIsThePath Yeah but still, it's still a good scene/moment. You just gotta look into it. He could've sent Clark in to save the dog. Hell he probably should have. But he doesn't because he thinks of Clark as his son, not a nigh immortal alien. He wants to protect his son. Intellectually he knows the tornado can't hurt him. But emotionally, it's putting his son in danger.
Then when he finally does save the dog (because he did think he had more time) he's realizes he's going to die. Clark jumps up to go save him. Jon raises his hand and gives a small shake of his head. It's not time for Clark to reveal himself to the world. Especially not for selfish reasons. So Clark's dad dies protecting his secret. A secret that he keeps throughout the rest of his, up until he finds out his heritage at least.
It's not about the dog, it's about Clark. Pure and simple.
Actually now that I think about it. It's mostly about Clark, but a large part of it is about Jon Kent being a hero. He's a normal man who is in danger, and his first thought is how to save those who can't save themselves (the little kid, the dog, etc.). Then he dies a good death. Which is the only reward any hero can expect. And he dies saving his son's secret, keeping Clark safe until he's "man" enough, to become the Man of Steel.

At the start of the end fight Zod straight up says "I will make these humans suffer Kal, I will take them from you one by one." Zod is actively trying to kill as many humans as possible, so Clark can't just "draw him away from the city" if he tried, Zod would just let him leave and start slaughtering everyone in the city. This fight is both them fighting each other and also Clark trying to minimize the lives Zod is trying to take.

You have to watch the Ultimate Cut of Batman V Superman. Yes its longer than than the theatrical cut by 30 minutes but they are important to the story/conspiracy that is lacking in the cuts made to the theatrical version. If you wonder why Batman would not like Superman, that question is quickly answered in the first 5 minutes of the movie. Snyder at his best and the Hans Zimmer soundtrack is epic.

1:02:02 I am so glad Justin and Jane understood the message. Jonathan Kent wanted to protect his son at all cost. Thats what parents always do. When he says to younger Clark that MAYBE he should have let those kids on the bus drown, it was not from cynicism, thats what a protective parent will always do. But he also understand the other side of it thats why he said Maybe rather than a Yes or No. This movie established that the world and choices of Superman does not have to be one-note and can also have depth.
And the music by Hans Zimmer is so great.

10:00 The Man Of Steel Prequel Comic states that Kara Zor-El arrived on Earth about 18,000 years before Clark did because in this universe she's his ancestor. But she became lost and is presumably frozen in the arctic somewhere, which is why she hasn't appeared yet. The open pod inside of the Scout Ship/the Fortress Of Solitude is a hint that Kara woke up and left. As for why all the other Kryptonians aboard the ship are dead, you'll have to read the comic to find out.

Superman couldn't leave the city, Zod wanted dead humans.

The open pod on the ship was planned for Supergirl/Kara Zor-El.
Couple of cast from Battlestar Galactica.
Jor-El's hologram was a copy of his consciousness.
    DC stands for Detective Comics

Honestly, Snyder didn’t even go off the reservation in killing Zod. People keep forgetting there would’ve been no way to contain Zod had Superman decided to spare him. There was no kryptonite, no depowering cells, nothing. Kal had to put Zod down.
Not to mention, I find it odd people keep forgetting Zod died in Superman II, as well. And it can be argued it was worse than his death in Man of Steel because, if I recall correctly, Zod was depowered before he was tossed to the bottom of the Fortress of Solitude.

About your "Superman doesn't kill" comment. Superman will absolutely kill, when there's no other option. He will exhaust every option first, often to his own detriment, but once he makes the decision to do so, he will carry it out. He will not kill humans no matter what though. Aliens, demons, monsters are fair game however. In the Post-Crisis Comics, Superman de-powered an alternate universe Zod and his two cronies and then held Kryptonite on them until they were dead. His reasoning was that Zod had already killed his own universe and now threatened Clark's. Clark felt that as a Kryptonian, it fell to him to be judge, jury and executioner. After that he was really tore up and put in place his "kill only as a last resort" rule.

Christopher Reeve's Superman dropped a de-powered Zod down an icy pit, so I'm pretty sure he killed him. And he did it with a smile on his face. I don't understand why some people took such issue with Cavill's Superman killing. At least he tried to avoid it and showed remorse right afterwards.

This movie, had moments where I actually got 'moved, emotional'; Even now, all these years later, I will play the 'world engine' clip or Clark's learning to fly here on Y/T and I still get affected. Perhaps is just Hans Zimmer's superlative score but it works. And as much as I actually enjoyed it, the MCU with it's 10++ years of action setpieces and jokey jokes and character development was never able to do that.

Yes, Kara was also sent away the same way before Krypton exploded, but not with Kal-El but separately in her own ship. There is actually a prequel comic to Man of Steel and in the movie, when Kal-El walks around the ship, you see him walk by a pod that was already previously opened. I remember everyone freaking out theorizing at the time that open pod may have been Kara. I think you may want to do a rewatch of Aquaman after you see the Snyder Cut of Justice League. You may get more out of it this time around. Man of Steel probably ranks for me in my top 2 or 3 best comic book movies of all time, seriously. Did you ever watch the movie, Green Lantern, with Ryan Reynolds? From what I know, technically, that was supposed to be the start of the DCEU, but since the movie bombed, that changed things. LOL. I and many others liked the movie, though it did have a villain problem, but I never blamed Reynolds for it bombing. If you never saw it, I think you may enjoy it. I still think the movie is re-watchable and not as bad as others claim it is. At the time when I first saw this movie in the theaters, I could so easily see some of the references to the Smallville tv show, which I was and still am a HUGE fan of. Zack Snyder himself said (of course, I paraphrase) he also loved the show and was heavily influenced by it making this movie and I think it shows.
I cannot wait for you guys to see the Snyder Cut of Justice League. Those 4 hours fly by quickly and you will barely even notice the time going by. Yes, it is cut up into nice sections, but if you're anything like me, you will not be able to stop yourself but will want to keep watching. Make sure you see the Batman V Superman: Ultimate Edition. I loved the theatrical version, but the studio cut a lot out and re-arranged a few scenes for the theatrical. By the way, there are about 5 issues of prequel comics that takes place between Man of Steel and Batman V Superman sponsored by Dr. Pepper you can find online and read. I found those comics to be very fun and so very wish they actually got included in the BvS film itself. I think that would have cleared up some of the confusion and over-exaggerated fan hate BvS got at the time it came out. I know it was just a rumor last week, but by now, it has been confirmed WB is interested in Man of Steel 2 and is looking for a writer an director. The Rock even said the old WB regime did not want Cavill back but the new leadership did. Henry Cavill is definitely my favorite Superman and I am also including all the TV versions. Tyler Hoechlin is probably my #2. For me, I think Amy Adams and Henry Cavill had THE BEST Lois Lane and Clark Kent on-screen chemistry ever, including movies and tv shows. I think J.V. would really like the prematurely canceled TV series, Krypton, that ran for 2 seasons. It sort of takes the concept of the beginning of this movie and expounds on the history of Krypton and Superman's lineage. I did not know at the time there were comic book stories made about that already. But, the show itself was very unique and very fun (at least for me).

Mark 29:14. In, "Smallville", the character, "Pete Ross", is African-American. (The actor that played him is not related to the actor that played, "Flash Gordon", by the way.) Sam Jones III, was a very nice young guy when my best friend and I met him in, Tulsa. We were in line to get his autograph on our respective photographs, and he started a conversation with us, so we had to step aside to continue it, even as he kept signing autographs for others.
He must've lacked convention experience though. His father was his manager, at least at the booth. This one guy wanted an issue of the comic book magazine adaptation of the television series to be signed, since, "Pete Ross", was on the cover. Sam, signed it. Then he saw that it was an issue that he hadn't read yet.
So the conversation and the line came to a halt, when he began to read the issue! That annoyed his father, who apologized to the crowded line, as he admonished his son and told him how to be more professional! Sam, was embarrassed! He asked the guy if he could keep the issue long enough to finish reading it, and that he would give it back to him later.
But the guy said that he had to go to work, and couldn't wait! So, Sam, finished the page at least, returned the issue, and the line progress resumed. But our conversation topic, couldn't, because he got distracted enough by his own behavior, to remember what he wanted to talk to us about. 😁😅 🦸

So for him to be able to draw it, he drew two fish swimming by each other!) But anyway, look at the geometric shape that her, "S", is in! See it? His, "Hope", exists inside a, "Diamond"! As in, "The Hope Diamond"! Those gemstones are considered to be the toughest, as they required other diamonds to cut them, until they invented the, LASER.
They call him the, "Man of Steel", because of how invulnerable he is. But he's more like a flexible, "Diamond Man"!
Side Note: "Marvel", had a female character named, "Diamond", because of her flesh density. Then they gave her an internal form of cancer that medical doctors couldn't operate on, because their medical instruments couldn't penetrate her flesh! 😳🙁

TLDR; In comics, Superman kills Zod, Ursa and Non on a parallel Earth to save all life on his Earth and the trauma of it is why he vows to never kill again.

He's 16 in that hurricane scene and was not allowed to use his abilities because he had to repress them for his own safety. The last thing the world needs is for the government to lock up an immature gods dad. Jonathan understands the true danger and sensitive nature of raising a man. Taking the role of a man and sacrificing himself is a lesson had to learn. It's far more important than even his own life. Clark needs this example if he can be trusted to be a hero in his adulthood.
