i realized the danger in wanting to play both Strip Mine + Cupola City when you were drafting at 28:13. if you wanted to guarantee playing both in one turn, you would've had to buy no more than one card in the draft and spend ALL your current cash/steel/heat. it's hard to say whether it would have been worth risking Cupola's playability for one turn to buy Mineral Deposit + Decomposers + Livestock. I think I would've played it safe and just played two big cards that gen. (edit: corrected my mental math)
What is the reason to spend 18mc for D-tier (your own rating) Black Polar Dust, when - it doesn't help you with plant prod (you doesn't have green cards with oceans in requirements) - you have low starting capital as Helion - it delays EC - it doesn't help with any milestones or awards on Hellas - there is no such valueable oceans on Hellas as on Thrarsis (2 cards or 2 ti) - you already had 7 heat prod with corp ability + pleludes and it's very easy to take 2 heat prod bumps having nuc zone in hand - you bought extra one card for 1 heat prod - micro mills
Yes, BPD is not a particularly great card on average, but there are a few factors that make it stronger than usual here: - I was planning on claiming Specialist and BPD granted me enough heat to do that - it made for a particularly nice Nuke Zone Spot, granting me quite a bit of MC - it was very early on and so, its heat prod has quite a bit of time to pay back - I was playing Helion, so heat prod is more valuable
Is taking the heat bumps as helion really worth it? I've never taken then because it's like 8 mc for one production which doesn't seem worth it to me. I'm a relatively new player so correct me if I'm wrong
It’s 8 heat for a production and a VP! Helion just isn’t that good of an engine corp and if youre rushing raising the heat lets you end the game quicker which is what you want
Amazing comeback!! With that last play you say was a misplay…was it? You were left with 2 MC. Hydrogen’s cost was 10 after all discounts and gave you 6 MC rebate, so net cost would be 4 MC. And again, you had just 2 MC left with everything else you played and just 1 card to sell. So you would’ve been short by 1 MC, no? Am I missing something? Hopefully I’m not and this helps you feel better lol.
Crazy comeback from behind. GG!
Well played. Such a great game

sorry, missed that specialist requires 10 production, I thought about 6)
But still...
