24:47 Just want to point this out to any new players following this strategy. Mtashed fights in this position and in terms of souls it would be a good fight. He's up 4-5k souls on any opponents in the lobby, but the problem is he has those 5k souls in his inventory, so if his opponents have spent all their souls before they go to this fight, then Mtashed isn't actually fighting with a lead. He's taking an even fight right now because his 5k soul lead is in his inventory not spent. Its really important to spend your souls as soon as you can purchase the item you want,, then fight around your power spikes.
one note is with 5k more souls you have more inherit levels so you have more abilities and dmg - so you do have an "advantage" just not as large as spending the souls
Commenting as I watch: -You can jump over that cover in your guardian area and use Power Slash also to mix up the peek (because you float) -Attack side of enemy guardian when your minions push up to avert enemy attention from your minions, back off when they notice you -I like your early defensive play style. I like to unlock Power Slash first. It can hurt the minions to one shot without wasting ammo or kill them and shoot orb. - Take advantage of cluster bombs too they are really good - Can you try the Wave Lord Build?
@@NoelleMain her 1 does crazy dmg and she has a ton of items to help with that and give good utility on it, while her gun doesnt scale great and her abilities dont really work with a gun build

Great stuff Mtashed! My first ever game on Yamato, I used ur build and I absolutely carried 65k souls 58k player dmg. It was really hard to win because I only had one decent teammate and they ended up with 2 peoples quite maxed like me. Meanwhile I was maxed out for a while and stacked souls for nothing, I pretty much had to do midboss alone to win the game
I have never met anyone who just gets in range of your E, but I won many lanes where I go qx2 into e. Powerslash is ridiculously good in lane, you can literally sit and melee creeps with melee lifesteal and extra regen and if they try to poke, you power slash from behind cover. Once you hit 1 power slash and 2 alt fire on the enemy they are zoned out and you can do this at lvl 1. Unless you're against grey talon, who is hell to lane against.
Good guide, but I got 1 question which didn't seem to be in the video: You can also build Yamato really well on Spirit damage, and for me, I seem to have more success on the spirit version than the gun-focused one. What's your opinion on that? Is there even a better or worse?
I never played a MOBA before, I come from CS and I didn't understood what to do at all but I knew Yumoko abilities would fit my play style. Thanks to your tips and your build, I finaly understood the character and got my first good game! Thanks 🙏
@@Bigchungusbangs Back in 2012, I left CSGO because it needed some fixes. Waited until late 2014 and we had a masterclass! I'd reccommend watching Necros or FredTheFinch. They're top Yamato players and have way better advice than Mtashed. No hate, I used to love watching him in Destiny, but his tips aren't the best for Yamato. This kind of build and stuff works at low MMR, but gun Yamato is not good. But like to start, you wanna go 1, 3, 2 instead of 3, 2 ,1 like Tash says. 2 is just a movement tool you wanna use to get in or out of combat and when you do Spirit, her 1 is very strong and is your only poke tool.
One thing you didn’t mention was that if you use power slash while dashing you still do the dash but power slash begins charging while dashing giving like 0.5s+ off of the charge time
An actual guide that goes into the test range, gives real tips and explains the build. You earned a new sub, this is genuinely one of the only quality guides i’ve found
People really don’t understand how lane works, mtashed is right, denying souls is single handily the most import thing. YOU NEED TO FARM… this isn’t cod stop holding w and mouse 1 from the start of the match people and you’ll start winning games
Thanks for the guide, also how do you put this build so its ready in "builds" without searching for items and just to know what to buy and also isnt the spiritual damage build better for this character
As somebody who always plays Yamato with a Melee build, I was quite disappointed. I tried it in two different rounds, and in both I was outmatched and barely got any kills compared to when I focus on Melee. My lane enemies were always either equal or ahead of me in souls, despite me playing defensive. Assuming an economic advantage in a build is generally bad. Also the first regen buff is not enough to stay at acceptable health. When I found myself with low health it made it difficult to play into the strengths of Yamato. Additonally, Yamatos 'gun' is quite weird which makes it hard to always land (head)shots on enemies, especially when they run away. This makes you much less able to finish off kills, which Yamato is designed arround. I think you underestimate the strength of yamatos 1. With the bullet resist, its quite strong early game and its easier to land hits on the distance than with your gun. The ability to float in the air and aim at Grey Talon or Vindicta is underappreciated. With a melee build, you can actually outclass most enemies that didnt also build into melee instead of being a situationally better gun hero. 2 allows you to get close, 3 to reduce bullet damage and 1 to mix up your attacks and finish enemies off, which makes it harder to counter for players who know how to parry. Im sure your build is strong if you scale really hard in the early game, but if you don't you don't it feels very underwealming, especially when you constantly have ot go to base to heal.
This is my first game with a mouse and keyboard I’m god awful feel like a baby deer out there getting smashed but it’s a lot of fun still def my new fav multiplayer game
When is the best time to use Yamato's alt fire? I find myself only using her normal fire, and honestly, the best use I've seen for her alt fire personally is if there are creeps that are stuck together.
Yeah the whole early game section isn’t good. Played 200 games of Yamato at 60% win rate, but good mid-late guide for bullet Yamato. Both spirit and gun are good, spirit more consistent mid game power spike.
Funny how im doing the opposite, but i ALWAYS win my lane, i prefer to start by getting my Q in the beginning of the match, cause it deals a insane amount of damage and it recharges pretty quickly, so i can sometimes make a little flank and get a kill on them
And when i use the Power Slash im always charging it behind something, cause you can move a little bit, so i make sure that i cant get hit while its charging, but then when i can shoot it i can still see the enemy
@@Tiltern youre actually doing it right. building gun yamato is just goofy and many other heroes would do it better, her abilities gain no benefit from a gun build. Instead, pro players focus on poking with her 1 and building sustain items early game. As soon as your 1 hits rank 4, which is around the start of mid game, you hit a large powerspike and you should use it to get some unexpected kills. Get mytic reverb as your first late item and slap it on your 1, followed by improved burst. Your 1 should delete heroes from the game then. Lastly, combine dash with your 1. You'll keep the momentum and land next to your enemy with half your power slash charged.
