That’s what many people who end up stalking say; that the other person is sending hidden messages about how they love them, or are encouraging contact from them subliminally. It’s creepy. I definitely agree that he is mentally unstable rn (especially after seeing comments about an update on this episode, where he went back to believing he was dating her after all this), but it is also a huge red flag to me.

But my psychiatrist said psychotic people are really cool (to treat, at least) because once you give them the right meds, it's like a switch is flipped and suddenly they're just a person like any other again and realize all the delusions were, in fact, just delusions. It's apparently a really drastic shift, like the psychosis had swallowed up their entire personality, leaving only the delusion and obsessive behaviors behind.
So here's to hoping this catfished dude gets the help he needs and gets to be free of his delusions again.

Because he had no way of knowing he was talking to a child, and she DEFINITELY doesn't live a stable life based on her behavior at 12, and continued behavior until 18. So he's stuck with the fucked up guilt over falling in love with what turned out to be a middle schooler despite his feelings being genuine, and as far as she goes, I don't think anyone would need a psych degree to see that there is something very very wrong with that girl. They both need therapy.
