Lot of devices are like that where they need to use wifi even with POE connection. I installed POE lights and the nodes all require wifi even though a wired Cat 6 cable is plugged into it.
I've got a question about POE lights. There a way to convert most lights into a POE light, like a DIY option? Reason I ask is because my wife doesn't like any of the limited options for POE sconces out there.
    Thanks,

But you never showed the final poe router Switch on the desk with nest of cables going everywhere

Ha! That's a great point. Cable management is so important. A quick note here: powering items with PoE requires 60% less copper so it's not only more energy efficient, it's more sustainable.

A bit late but, have you tried splicing out the ethernet on the Google Wifi into two seperate jacks? One with data only twisted pairs and the other with PoE only pairs?

Since we were running gigabit data to the Google WiFi, we needed all 4 pairs. Fortunately there splitters separates the data and power without sacrificing the data rate. I’ve seen the hacks for separating the two pairs for data and two pairs for power, but this limits your throughput to 100 Mbps max.

Thats such a waste, have device to run power through Ethernet, then have another device to extract power from Ethernet and ignore the Ethernet part.
