This is exactly what we need to hear more stories about. How people are shifting away from ebay and listing on other platforms. Woke up to zero sales on both stores with 7800 listings and I have 3 local sales today, all of which were on ebay. one of them I've had on ebay for at least 18 months, just listed it last week on fbmp and it's selling today. I don't think ebay can tout how many buyers they have anymore or at least it doesn't matter how many they have if they aren't seeing our items.

Ebay has to stop turning off listings. Sometimes, I have sold dozens of a particular item and then Ebay will turn off my sales of that item and no matter what I do, the sales won't return. I may still have the cheapest price and have great delivery times etc., but Ebay will turn off my listing and it won't ever sell again. Then, all my inventory is basically worth nothing because there is no chance I can ever sell that item again. Even if I promote at 20% and I have the cheapest price on a listing that I have sold many times in the past, once Ebay turns that listing off, it will not sell again. How can I run an Ebay store, buy inventory and plan for the future if, at any time, Ebay can decide to turn off my listing and never let me sell that item again. This has happened to me more than 5 times.
My Ebay sales have fallen off a cliff in the past week, but I knew that would happen because the week before, my sales were good. Ebay THROTTLES sellers, so we always know we can't ever improve our sales beyond the level that Ebay has secretly set for us.

@@bennystratton7734 that makes sense because sales are SO bad, and then I'll get a RUSH for a day or two, then crickets. Sometimes I'll sell something on another platform, try to find the item using "active items" and search, and my own item won't come up! I have to just search page by page because a keyword search won't pull my own item up? It is just very weird. And I ALWAYS get sales the 1st of the month- to pay the store fee. In the last 3 years, I have NEVER had a 4+ item day UNLESS it's when my store fee is due. I could make a CHART and prove it! Show how many sales PER DAY and the ONLY days you'd see more than 3 or 4 items sell is in that window when the store fee is due! and it will usually be just at that $60 range, since my average sale per item is about $14.
Hi Jeff as a reseller on eBay since 1999 I must say today's eBay looks and operates with so much more complexity compared with the eBay of 1999. In 1999 there were NO bells and whistles to contend with. You just listed the item and wait for the sale, that was it, nothing else. Today it's all about making the reseller jump thru hoops with all the gimmicks, for the fees to feed the monster. The employees quit out of frustration, new ones are hired who know nothing and most likely have never sold a thing in their life compounding the problems. I have never promoted a listing and refuse to, they make enough money off me. I do send out offers to potential buyers, they either buy or they don't. If they don't I crosslist. Enough said (for now). Keep up the great work!
some day I will get there with promoted listings. maria back to work was first step. getting stabalization on multiple platforms is final step. then pl is off for good and I don't care if they sell on ebay or not. it's their loss imo. They are alienating there seller base.
@@hayfro Dude this is so awesome and original, and more funny and entertaining than almost any other reseller videos. Something just hit me though. If Jaime is a Trump supporter it might make sense what he is trying to do which is what MAGA (and most evil and corrupt governments) wants to do is to basically eliminate the middle class. Just have the rich and the desperate "slaves" aka the lower class.
Hi Jeff. It’s not that the screen would not let you select all the listings. It’s that all of your other listings are “stuck” in an old campaign. Even if you end and delete that campaign it gets stuck processing and times out. On the backend, they are still technically in a campaign so you cannot move them to the new one. Thanks for the video. The more we talk about it and provide use cases the faster this gets fixed.
hey kyle. why'd you stop making videos? that does make sense. perhaps ebay could send a memo? also, what about me ending 200 listings and only 198 showing up in my ended folder? any thoughts?
Yes I figured out ages ago to only run one campaign at a time as it kills my sales.. it’s insane.. now with these new updates and tabs moved it’s taken a while to figure things out.. but every update kills sales for a few days and we can’t afford this weekly ..
One thing I noticed today is that my business policies were really messed up. Some of my items had different shipping and return policies than they originally had. I sell men's clothing, and some of the items that I normally ship USPS ground (basically anything less than one pound) were changed to priority. I offer free returns on everything, and over 30 of my items were showing that buyers pay for return labels. I had to go through all my items and make sure the correct policies were set up. My sales have been down about 20 percent month to month, and I think the combination of a screwed up search function and incorrect business policies are to blame. Id be upset, but I'm just numb to eBay at this point and I expect this from them now. They have become a tech company who just cannot do tech correctly
I have heard about policies being changed and / or pl amounts being switched/raised or them being switched from standard to dynamic. it's just a mess. thanks for sharing tlip.
The same thing happens to me. Information that I inputted into my original listing were deleted, or changed around. It was as if someone from eBay went into my store and sabotage my listings. My thoughts: EBay emphasize item specifics and making sure the item specify are in place for search purposes. Scrambling a seller's store is a tool used to get your listings out of the search process/results so the buyer can not see your items. They suppress your items by scrambling your store. Everything they do is BY DESIGN.
I believe they are so anti-seller in policies and "help" and website glitches, as to frustrate and irritate so many sellers, they decide to self-remove themselves off the ebay platform. There's no other reason for them to consistently act this way other than it's done deliberately on purpose. Further consider the ceo and another top officer came from Walmart, and Walmart treats their item suppliers horribly, forcing and demanding items at ever lower prices by holding them hostage by placing them in terrible places in the store, or not even putting the items out, so killing sales of the suppliers, unless they play ball. Thats exactly what the ebay ceo is doing to the ebay sellers, treating them the exact same strngarm way.
Same as Amazon does! that is why Amazon and Walmart are the 2 biggest companies they HATE competition THEY FEAR it this is why ebay will never be able to compete with or BE another Walmart or another AMAZON at least in the NEW Category which is what they have been trying to do with since Devin and Now with Jamie......but if WALMART got rid of JAMIE that speaks VOLUMES he MUST really suck as a CEO......oh yeah we are living EVERY DAY since April 2020
No doubt! she was one of the best! If not the Best! they need to bring her back and TRAIN someone SHE HAND PICKS to lead ebay into the future she needs to bring back her Advertising department the commercials her advertising department made back in the late 90's all the way through her departure those commercials were the best and what MADE eBay what it is today THEY are what got buyers to the site PERIOD end of story and eBay needs to find there way back to that TYPE of advertising
And the other problem for eBay is that they're charging you? Based on the amount of items, you can list and maybe that is gonna be there, downfall, and the mistake we're it opens them up to legal action. Because if somebody pays ebay let say $100 a month to have an ability to list 100,000 items in their store thinking they are all going to be visible in their shop and search feeds only to discover that 75,000 items are being shown. To me ebay has violated my contract with them and then all the inabiliy to send offers or customers try to buy an item and ebay's checkout won't let them those issues is costing sellers real money.
Anchor store is $350 per month for a total of 101,000 items you can list 25,000 any category items 75,000 select category items and 1,000 auctions in select categories per month so its way more then $100 to list 100,000 items its $350 per month to be able to list 101,000 and not pay any intersection fees (at least in the United States) i have an anchor store for at least 10 years
They have enough passive income from those of us who have been busting our butts but have STORES- if they just stopped bothering with getting us sales- especially those of us who have smalls and less expensive items- and we keep on keeping on because we're TRYING- we are paying them that store fee every month and they can get that without giving much in return! We have to pay it! I made less in 2023 than I've made in YEARS and with much more effort and crossposting and higher fees. I used to do this PT and sporadically list and had 1/3rd of the listings I have now and didn't have a store, and now I'm paying $60/mo and getting a fraction of the sales.
eBay blinded by their own greed. I noticed only about 25% of my listings are being promoted. I have all my listings promoted at 2.2%. Now all my listings are not showing on my ad campaign 😂😂😂. eBay made some kinda change with the ad campaigns and now they are actually losing money because all the listings are not being promoted. eBay is like the panhandlers harassing you for a quarter.
44:45 that is how i have looked at reselling for the last 25 years no matter the platform i have always looked at it as an investment (our inventory) if you buy something for .25 and sell it for $10 what bank can you do that were you put .25 in and even a year later come back and get $10 you tell me that bank and ill put all my money in that bank there IS NO bank you can do that ONLY place i know you can do that is via Reselling and possibly the Stock market (i dabble in the stock market on and off since 2000)
if and that is a BIG if we all collectively STOPPED promoting IT WOULD FORCE EBAY to show our items No matter if we are promoting or not because BOTTOM LINE IS if items are not selling ebay does not get FVF' nor do they get Transaction fees so again even if we did not promote basically a boycott of promoting they would not be able to go long without SHOWING OUR ITEMS without promotions running we would force there hand THIS really would be the ONLY way to show EBAY we the sellers RUN the show they do not they need to start listen to US not just give lip service and NOT ONLY do things that will benefit THEM as a company!
Great video Jeff..as always :) And thanks for the shout out :D The changes with the Advertising Dashboard are just flawed, illdesigned and in all honesty (in my opinion) misrepresenting not only our stats but the service they have entered into and agreed to with the contract accepted between us and ebay for the subscription we have paid them for. I am currently putting together avideo to cover my views and findings of the update (hopefully put out this week) Keep up the great content Jeff, love the intros :D
thank you carl for your tireless efforts to post everyday, I don't have the mindspace to do that. your documenting your journey is important. glad you are enjoying my intros.what till you see who I talk too next. i don't think anybody could guess who I have planned...I just need to do a little research first to see if I can pull it off.
@@hayfro I look forwards to it :) Yes its taking alot of effort to keep up with the dailys as well as all the other content. I would be lying if I didnt say its taking its toll. (I may have to rethink how I approach them). Its starting to encrouch onto my ebay time allocations.
It’s called Walmart cooperate guy this Jamie! I worked for Walmart & would decipher their end of quarter reports.. i literally had to translate for my coworkers because it was reading between the lines.. now we have the same with eBay!
eBay throttles you when you end your PL campaigns in order to scare you (or perhaps it causes a re-indexing that appears as throttling). But it's not in their long-term interest to spite your account for eternity. I believe the same switch is triggered when (1) you have an outlier mega-sales day, (2) you get a negative feedback, or (3) you slip in service metrics. I would recommend promoting your oldest items at a very low percentage, just so you are participating in the program. I promote about 15% of my store, which are all my listings from 2021. These listings are practically meaningless to me.
51:48 so glad you having success on Etsy Jeff if any one deserves it you do! See benny was right on the money last year there is LIFE outside ebay! Lol Im speaking in 3rd person
and look you only had 7 visits on that listing to get the sale! that's HUGE! btw You know why there not selling on ebay.....ITS OUR ITEMS! ITS NEVER EBAYS FAULT LOL
or as ebays CEO likes to claim its the wars in Russia and Israel, or its our economy, or the politics Or its the Natural Disasters..... we never hear him say WAIT WAIT back it up ITS OUR FAULT we take total responsibility for your items not selling on our site because we are not doing a great job Promoting our own website to get buyers to your items that's what you pay us for in store fees and FVF's and Transaction fees so we will do better we promise ! LOL
@@hayfro and that is the thing with any platform really like etsy is KNOWN for what crafters people that make things so when you list things outside the box so to say they normally (on average) do better because you normally do not have as much competition this is why when i first started selling on etsy i only sold vintage items was easy for me because most of my vintage items are 20 Plus years old lol i then started to try to get a piece of the crafters market by listing crafting TOOLS (things that crafters need to do there craft) with Poshmark when i started on there in 2019 it was mainly known for clothing (still is) but i went the opposite route and listed Hard goods (electronics, Collectibles and such) the majority items i have sold on there are Hard Goods compared to clothing same with Mercari and offer up when i first started selling on those 2 sites in 2017 and 2018 majority was more Newer items (used but Newer items nothing older then 10 years) so i did very well selling vintage items on there. Same with amazon Prior to id say 2015 the big shake up as many amazon sellers called it if you were a pro merchant (pay the $39.95 per month) you could create listings From probably 2000 to 2015 i was selling MANY things you could sell on ebay that many would not think of on amazon (or think of selling) i did REALLY well with vintage items toys, electronics, anything vintage if you had a pro merchant account back then you could just create a listing FOR ANYTHING they were not as strict as they are now. I sell sports memorabilia back then you could list sports memorabilia just by creating a listing using your pro merchant account then during the big shake up of 2015 they changed everything YOU had to be invited in to sell in the Sports Memorabilia/collectibles Category so yeah it sucks they basically gated that category and that was not the only category they did that too they also did it to the toys category but i look at all the MONEY i made from 2000-2015 when it was not gated so i do not regret im humble and appreciate what i was able to do in that time period....but yes it always pays to sell what the Majority is not selling because you never know who is browsing that platform and what they MIGHT be interested in just because there looking for one thing does not mean they wont be interested in one of your items your selling especially if its different then what others on a particular site are selling always good to stand out!
Here’s something I’ve found when delisting & selling similar that causes you to loose your listing. If a product was a multiple product listing and you have sold an item from this listing. I’ve delisted a single listing like that and a notification popped up saying “you sold this item “. At that point that listing that still has product on it disappeared. I went to un sold to relist it but at that point there is no longer an option to sell similar or revise! It only states that “you’ve sold this item “. At that point you only have one option. Find the product and completely start the ad over from scratch! I hope this made enough sense to you and that you will experiment with it so that you can get the word out to the public. I don’t have a channel to do so.
I stopped promoting in November last year and I also stopped sell similar this year in January. Additionally I only replace what sells, meaning I keep the amount of listings the same. Never had better sales. I am only a part-time seller. Most of all, I have my life back. Went from 6 hour workdays down to 1 to 2 hours.
@@hayfro 1630. Click and sell through rates are key. If you need to grow, try growing by monetary value in your store, not by the amount of listings. Think of Aldi. They have the exact type of items in their store. They only replace what sold.
the ebay gift cards comment was awesome....so many frauds in this community !!!! push push ebay and tell everyone how awesome their sales are and how they promote at 15%
I love your intros. I needed the laugh. I thought I was crazy over a week ago when I was doing my reset and I’ve lost 23 items now. I lost another one today. My promoted is off until tomorrow. Thank you for sharing. Have a great time with the grand baby.
33:46 funny im at the same % i do $20 and under items at 5% and over $20 at 3% if she is getting that great of results without promoting i might just turn off mine too! i was actually thinking about upping it 1 or 2% lol also i have been doing a test of No End and sell similar and im staying steady started June 1st lol have not done any end and sell similar since June 1st June i actually made More then i did in Jan Feb and March funny thing was i sold Less items! im going to keep the test going till Sept 1st Since EBay states in there eyes items are stale after 90 days and that is when they suggest to do the end and sell similar if i keep steady or surpass it will tell me at least i do not have to do end and sell similiar every month (which is what i was doing) but since i have 17k items and had items that were ending daily i had do the end and sell similar pretty much every day!
100% do the lowest % possible we all have to hold out as sellers if we can collectively HOLD out eBay will be FORCED to show our items LIKE it or not Because guess what if they don't show our items they do not get FVF or Transaction Fees
@@bennystratton7734 if they want more money, they could just raise the FVF and be transparent instead of designing digital leeches (ie promoted listings) to suck the blood out from under us as tribute
The next time you have issues with ESS, you should record the problem. I use ESS for all 60,000 allotted listings every month, and I have never experienced any losses, although I have experienced glitches. I get the "199" fairly often. It's always the top listing on that page that didn't end. I end that one single item manually to get back to factors of 200 on my Unsold Page. Before I begin the ESS process, I write down my number of active listings. After each cycle, I make sure I'm always returning to that number. If someone buys an item during the process, of course you have to reduce that number by one. I try to ESS at midnight, when there is little traffic. If the process seems extra glitchy, I abandon the effort for the day.
that is a different problem altogether. i ended 200 listings. only 199 showed up in my ended. when I relisted those I was one less short in my initial count that I can't account for. I know what you are referring to when one items says "item could not be ended". that is not the case with this. it's like one item, or in one other instance 3 items ended and disappeared from my actives, but never made it to my ended. i hope I explained that well.
FYI, after a couple of missed meetings, I finally met with the Ebay promoted listings rep. Now his job was to sell me on the promoted offsite listings. I did create a campaign and use two coupons to reduce the costs. However, I kept hammering him about the massive drop in sales around 4/23. I asked him to take a look at my store and try to come up with an explanation for all these problems. He said he'd pull some others in to see what they could find. We'll see. This is my hail mary. If they can't figure it out, I don't see my store continuing for another 6 months. :P
Longtime ebay sellers "with all this promoted listings bs im paying ebay almost 20% now, 20%!!!!!! That's insane, I'm not going to keep letting ebay raise fees and steal 20 % of my profit, I'm going to start crosslisting to poshmark" Meanwhile poshmark has always been 20% flat 🤦♂️ But yes, jokes aside, just do flat 20% and remove promotions.
If I decide to stop promoting I will unlist and sell similar everything and not promote to get the new listing boost. my sales have tanked but I am not listing like I used to.but I did manage a few sales.
@@hayfro hi Jeff, I let my store drop to about 270. Something has changed in search and placement. I noticed it a few days ago. Also my impressions have dropped lower than ever.
yeah all true i have been forced to do their suggested dynamic ad rate capped at 15% i hate doing it but its the only way to get sales and it has made a difference since implementing it i was doing about 3% and it was like a desert
So how much total do you figure you are paying to ebay in fees. likely 35%? and what happens when more and more sellers up their PL to catch yours. will that 15% be like 3% in a year then you have to up your PL to 25%? sellers really need to think long and hard about the future of ebay and voice their concerns about PL. this is a pyrmaid scheme in reverse they are running with their promoted listings ad fees.
@@AK36677 i know they dont care about me but i care about me and sales with the dynamic rate capped at 15% which may i add i very rarely pay its about 9-10 average makes a huge difference in my sales so what do i do keep it at 2% because it makes me feel better and makes me think i have got one over on ebay and end up with no sales?? please enlighten me
@@saradoherty3875 i realize that. i'm just trying to get people to think about how unsustainable the ebay ponzi scheme is right now. ebay needs to rethink their PL fees and structure the more realistic and fair. They are destroying people's margins.
J-Ride eventually changed his tune. He opened up an Amazon account. He started cross listings to SEVERAL PLATFORMS.. He will never admit it BUT he realize that eBay is deficient in its responsibilities to its sellers on the platform. Income is unpredictable and unrealiable, with bills coming every 30 days.

BUT .. no link or info to your ebay stores under this video and nothing under the Creator about page!! Maybe that is something to look into?? I would think that links or info to every store and platform your using would be readily available and easy to find. Not to say that those things might actually be on other videos... And ill be real... Im not going to go searching for that. Again just something to think about... Maybe!?!?
@@hayfro I did look in both places that I said i looked!! And I didn't see any link to your Ebay store..
Every time eBay makes a change or a glitch happens we just have to deal with it. No compensation for lost wages or time. Pathetic... 🙄🤮
And Live from New York its Saturday Night!!!
omg...so good!
@@hayfro T-Lip's tip for all sellers who see this: CHECK YOUR LISTINGS TO MAKE SURE YOUR PAYMENT/SHIPPING/RETURN POLICIES ARE CORRECT!
Been reselling on ebay since 2005 and the last 2 years on Mercari. More sales on Mercari lately. Sucks that ebay has turned into a dumpster fire.
props for doing this for over 20 years harley.
More ✨magical innovations✨
Same as Amazon does! that is why Amazon and Walmart are the 2 biggest companies they HATE competition THEY FEAR it this is why ebay will never be able to compete with or BE another Walmart or another AMAZON at least in the NEW Category which is what they have been trying to do with since Devin and Now with Jamie......but if WALMART got rid of JAMIE that speaks VOLUMES he MUST really suck as a CEO......oh yeah we are living EVERY DAY since April 2020
eBay was *crickets* dead all day. Made this comment. Received an instant mega low-ball offer a minute later. Funny timing!

How bout' a call to Meg Whitman. We miss her as eBay CEO.
i never knew any previous ceo's by name before jamie...and now I have his direct #!
No doubt! she was one of the best!
LETS make ebay GREAT AGAIN! NEW SLOGAN
Criminal is correct word
Your chat with Jamie was great! You have found your "calling"!
Actually, in ebay's terms of service, they state that some of your listings may not be visible based on certain criteria.
Anchor store is $350 per month for a total of 101,000 items you can list 25,000 any category items 75,000 select category items and 1,000 auctions in select categories per month so its way more then $100 to list 100,000 items its $350 per month to be able to list 101,000 and not pay any intersection fees (at least in the United States) i have an anchor store for at least 10 years
That was one long arse sentence. Your grammar teacher would be proud of you...😉
They have enough passive income from those of us who have been busting our butts but have STORES- if they just stopped bothering with getting us sales- especially those of us who have smalls and less expensive items- and we keep on keeping on because we're TRYING- we are paying them that store fee every month and they can get that without giving much in return!

44:45 that is how i have looked at reselling for the last 25 years no matter the platform i have always looked at it as an investment (our inventory) if you buy something for .25 and sell it for $10 what bank can you do that were you put .25 in and even a year later come back and get $10 you tell me that bank and ill put all my money in that bank there IS NO bank you can do that ONLY place i know you can do that is via Reselling and possibly the Stock market (i dabble in the stock market on and off since 2000)
What happens if everyone stops promoting....like now...? Asking for a friend.
then we win. but it's not like we can collectively get people to do that. and if we did I bet ebay would just raise fvf's to 20% or more
@@hayfroyou’re right but also in a weird way, raising FVFs would be more upfront and transparent versus the promoted listing Trojan horse methodology
I Did! Also stopped buying anything on there with a sponsored ad.
if and that is a BIG if we all collectively STOPPED promoting IT WOULD FORCE EBAY to show our items No matter if we are promoting or not because BOTTOM LINE IS if items are not selling ebay does not get FVF' nor do they get Transaction fees so again even if we did not promote basically a boycott of promoting they would not be able to go long without SHOWING OUR ITEMS without promotions running we would force there hand THIS really would be the ONLY way to show EBAY we the sellers RUN the show they do not they need to start listen to US not just give lip service and NOT ONLY do things that will benefit THEM as a company!

Great video Jeff-as always, great work! Enjoy your family visit, my friend.

etsy would sell so much more if they kicked it down to 10 years as vintage.
I’m not sure I’m more worried about the calls or James playing with puppets. Maybe calab with james
Went from 6 hour workdays down to 1 to 2 hours.
how many total listings do you have?
@@hayfro 1630. Click and sell through rates are key. If you need to grow, try growing by monetary value in your store, not by the amount of listings. Think of Aldi. They have the exact type of items in their store. They only replace what sold.

I decided to just do 2% and that's it leave it alone let ebay choke on it.

I am as you as well, I am returning to my Photography Businesses. I can’t work like an animal only to give ebay money.

I'm meeting with a promoted listings consultant from Ebay today. I can't wait to hear the BS they have to say. :P

That's insane, I'm not going to keep letting ebay raise fees and steal 20 % of my profit, I'm going to start crosslisting to poshmark"
Meanwhile poshmark has always been 20% flat 🤦♂️
But yes, jokes aside, just do flat 20% and remove promotions.
But Poshmark doesn't charge fees on shipping...
