One of my favourite Pulp tracks. It gives me a proper weird feeling and takes me back to my teenage years. Jarvis Cocker's lyrics feel honest and sincere and honesty is such a rare quality in music these days. There's very little ego or pretention in his writing.
I agree, along with the wonderfully disturbing She's a Lady, and the lyrical brilliance of Razzmatazz! But as you say, Have You Seen Her Lately might be the best of all.
Definitely the best line in the song, for one it's the metaphor which is amazing using a classic metaphor.. but secondly the way he sings it, so powerful in the build up and release of 'you should throw away!' Damn Jarvis wish I could write like that then sing, then perform, then dance, then... well just be Jarvis XD
First you let him in your bed. Now he's moved inside your head. And he directs all the dreams you are dreaming. I saw a friend of yours today, she called me over just to say, "I dunno if you've seen her lately but God she's looking rough". No don't go round to see him tonight, he's already made such a mess of your life. Find something else to do with your time, and do it quickly while you've still got the chance. Do you think he'll fall apart? Do you think you'll break his heart? If you leave him on his own. You are dreaming. 'cause he can fasten all his clothes, tie his laces, blow his nose. It's time to teach him how to walk, yeah, teach your baby how to walk away. No don't go round to see him tonight, he's already made such a mess of your life. Find something else to do with your time, and do it quickly while you've still got the chance. You're not his mother, you're not sister & brother. He's not even your lover. He's just a piece of luggage you should throw away. No don't go round to see him tonight, he's already made such a mess of your life. Find something else to do with your time, and do it quickly while you've still got the chance. No don't go round tonight, you'll never make it right. He's already made such a mess of your life. Find something else to do with your time, and do it quickly while you've still got the chance.

It's like hearing the best advice from the wisest friend you've ever had - but you still ignore it anyway.
Pulp songs seem to get more relevant the older I get
Lokomot1ve yeah its called life
So true!!
🍇Realised the same thing 10 yrs ago … PULP just keeps ageing better than Oasis or Blur ( I like all these bands )
This was my anthem when I was single. Everytime I go on a date I play this one. Thank you for the slap in the face, Pulp. ❤

Jarvis is a brilliant song-writer, here and so many songs. His intelligence adds to his sexiness.
the most underrated song
Melodically and instrumentally my most favorite Pulp´s song.
Will they perform this song again?
@@profpiko They won´t perform anything.
@@Targanar very glad to be able to dispute this! They may well perform this next year… what a beautiful turn of events.

"He's not even your lover. He's just a piece of luggage you should throw away"
best indie album ever!
Was singing this to myself in the show this morning and had to listen to it again...
First you let him in your bed.
Now he's moved inside your head.
And he directs all the dreams you are dreaming.
I saw a friend of yours today,
she called me over just to say,
"I dunno if you've seen her lately but God she's looking rough".

Do you think he'll fall apart?
Do you think you'll break his heart?
If you leave him on his own.
You are dreaming.
'cause he can fasten all his clothes,
tie his laces,
blow his nose.
It's time to teach him how to walk,
yeah, teach your baby how to walk away.
No don't go round to see him tonight,
he's already made such a mess of your life.
Find something else to do with your time,

you'll never make it right.
