The acting on this show is always great. The young actor playing Heath in this one is especially good. I also love the attention to detail--cigarette packages and table linen and other sundries all as they would have been then (at least, to my knowledge). The narration is good, too. Nothing overly dramatic and the background music stays in the background. This is one of my favorite true crime series.

It's a 13-part British television drama The series portrays historical events from 1848 to 1918, dealing with the ruling dynasties of Austria-Hungary (the Habsburgs), Germany (the Hohenzollerns), and Russia (the Romanovs). @Farin Shore definitely the killer. Just because one is trained to do something doesn't make it a compulsion, or any similar notion. No I don't support training people to kill either but blaming the institution is taking the responsibility from those responsible.

My Nana was at her Pa’s Bar that was Called Paddy’s.
She had just gotten off after her shift at some HighScale Shop that these rich ladies would be served Champagne while they shopped and having my Nana try on any gowns hats, Shoes, gloves or any thing that they fancied. Guess when you’re well off you don’t bother yourself with such trifle things as in trying on your own clothes.🙂‍↔️Smh
Any Who so this chap sent drinks 🍺 to my Nana’s table that she was sitting at along with her 2 girlfriends.
She said she thanked him but had to inform him she was not allowed to go study. Long story short she said he seemed normal and sweet but seemed desperate and hard headed. Her brothers had to set him straight after he approached her the following week again . She remembered she felt bad and even almost considered sneaking out hoping she would get to dance with him at a dance in town that the church or town was holding.
How lucky she was .Crazy when you think on how just one choice or one mishap could have quite possibly been the beginning of the end for you or the end of your serenity & happiness never being any of the wiser.

Good, except criminals where never offered a glass of whiskey before execution, executions where to swift and there was no hanging around for the condemned to have a last drink. The executioner and his assistant went into the condemned cell as the clock started striking the hour, in somew prisons 8 am in others 9 am, from then on it was only a matter of seconds before the condemned was dead on the end of the rope, slide the false bookcase out ofd the way, open the hidden door approximately 10 paces to the drop, noose cap & pin then push the lever, all over in 30 seconds or less. The record held but Albert Pierrepoint was 7 seconds! From entering the condemned cell to the man being dead on the end of the rope.
The warden would often offer whiskey to the witnesses both before and after an execution.
