Mall of Asia in the Philippines is the biggest IKEA in the world.. the fact that 3 of the largest Mall in the world is in the Philippines, SM mall north EDSA, SM mall of Asia, SM mega mall.
Kare-Kare It was invented in Pampanga, the culinary epicenter of the Philippines; it was originally a traditional dish of the Moro people, the native inhabitants of the archipelago; it was an attempt by Indian soldiers on British ships trying to recreate curry far from home using local annatto seeds and peanuts.😊
Glad you loved MOA. In terms of mall aesthetics, there are nicer malls in Makati like Rockwell (tho it's one of those posh malls). Also, traditional Kare-kare uses oxtail, beef tripe, pork, etc. So the one you had with fish is strange to me. First time to see that. But i suggest you try the traditional one. The paste it comes with is what we call "Bagoong" which is fermented tiny shrimps. We just put a little of it with every spoonful of Kare-kare and rice as we eat. And no, Kare-kare has nothing to do with Curry. They just sound the same. :)
Yes, it should be "buy one take two" means - one buy one free, but it will confuse Filipinos, That's why its written, "buy one, take one", and we understood it to always take home two when it says like that.

not in a bubble of malls and exclusive areas of private gated subdivisions or prime realty areas, like BGC or CBD and the likes...if you compare P.I. with Europe and other Western countries, then yes, in a really wide picture...have you travelled to other countries tho?
That’s not Indian influence.. Kare-Kare is not curry. It’s originally Filipino food, the sauce is with peanut butter… that something is ‘bagoong’ anchovies in English.
Hi Bryan, what you ate there with the yellow sauce is kare-kare. Actually, what you ordered was the fish kare-kare. There are other variants of kare-kare. We have fish, seafood, pork, chicken, oxtail, beef rind, and innards like tripe and intestines. And the salty item you got there with kare-kare (which is a must) is shrimp paste. You need to put a very small amount of it in every spoon of kare-kare you eat. They go perfectly well together.
A lot of restaurants do fusion to suit foreigners palate however i do recommend for you to try the traditional dishes. Part of undersranding the culture is to experience the local dishes. Btw kare kare has nothing to do with curry its peanut sauce also battered fish is very weird its usually consists of ox tail or beef.
@@BryanDiscoversWorld there are several filipino restaurants or owned by filipino who serve classic dishes such as goldilocks, dencios, manang and red ribbon who also have great desserts. There are great eat all you can restaurants like barrio fiesta and vikings and spirals buffets where lots of vloggers includes in their content.
Welcome to PHL and I hope you enjoy your stay! Just a correction: SM Mall of Asia is in Pasay. It is not in Manila. Both Pasay and Manila however are part of Metro Manila, a region composed of 16 cities and 1 municipality. We don't want foreigners to lose their way and end up in SM Quiapo instead of SM Mall of Asia because they mistakenly told the airport taxi to head for "Manila".
Don't be so technical! There's only one Mall of Asia in the Philippines. No cab driver will take you to Quiapo if you tell them to take you to Mall of Asia Manila. NAIA, which is located in Pasay, used to be Manila International Airport and NOT Pasay International Airport. When travelling from the Philippines (NAIA) to Los Angeles, does it say Pasay-LAX or MNL-LAX on the flight ticket?

The dish is called "Kare Kare". Peanut base sauce and you eat it with shrimp paste. Not the curry used in Indian dishes.

Do you think Philippines is a third world country? Honest opinion please.
not at all, It really is amazing, so far

PH is not a third world ( underdeveloped country) but a developing country. A long way more to go to become a develop country.
Are you South Africans by any chance? I can sense it in your accent. Enjoy The Philippines like I enjoyed South Africa.

Kare Kare is not a curry dish. It is a traditional Filipino stew (no Indian influence there) complimented with a thick savory peanut sauce.
