MULTI-FUNCTION Cheap Van Life TABLE | Turquoise Inlay

- I wanted to create an inexpensive table, without legs, and one that has multiple functions. I use my creation as a bedside table, a desk, and an outdoor cooking area.
To make it unique, I inlayed turquoise in the bark & the natural cracks of the wood.
Here is what I used:
Scrap piece of wood from a local sawmill

I like this slab table. I never thought of one before.
Pretty clever use of the two doors as supports for the table.
I'd probably still hook a bungee to both doors to hold them tight against either end of the slab table though.
I wouldn't want a strong wind to swing a door and cause your cook stove to go flying.

Hey Linnea - your table idea is pretty cool. Of course your "past" as an inlay-master makes this an obvious add-on for you, but the creativity that went into both the design and the secondary usage as a "tailgate" for your van is inspiring. It really does point out the open-ended nature of this type of van design and how everyone really can be the boss of their world. Now, if you can just get over your war with the leaves, it'll all be looking golden. ;-)

Thanks for making these videos. They give me lots of energy and inspiration. They also make me think what I want to do later. Traveling like this would be my ultimate, but it has to fit in with work... Right now I'm thinking about studying to become a doctor or primary school teacher. When I have a job, I want to live as cheaply as possible, and travel for a year each 3 years or so.

Just want to share something that I only recently learned about Turquoise. Apparently you should be careful crushing or grinding it. Because of the high content of Silica (if I am understanding it correctly) makes the powder quite toxic. Therefore using water while grinding will help reduce powder spreading to your lungs. ~Don't take only my word for it though~

Looks really nice. The table on the back of the van is so practical. Please make sure you secure the table when it's in the slide-out section under your bed too, as it would become a projectile if you hit the brakes, and you don't want that. Keep up the great work. :)

She's a German Shepherd with unusual coloring.
@Linnea & Akela -- Please trade me your van b-pillar molding! I am installing a partition and I need the plastic that allows the partition, if you stop by Oklahoma I can install the ones You need on your van, for your time.... it will give you a much more finished look around the seatbelt pillars.
