    Great video on the processing day prep with delicious looking fixins as well as some daily/normal chores. Super excited for that full processing video, fun highlights for sure let me know it will be really informative and fun. My jaw dropped with the fabulous growth and all that lovely green in the greenhouse, I can't wait for that garden tour!! The malabar spinach is still looking stunning in the entryway arch too. I am so appreciative of the community you have built Heather, it really does mean a lot to many people (including me). I am having my first goat butchered on Wednesday. I hope I didn't wait too long, he is about 20 months old. I will have a good portion of him ground because my husband has a hard time eating whole meat. I have been debating on whether to keep the ribs or not. I know from talking to someone who used to work in a similar establishment that they do not trim out the meat between the ribs. I was talking to an old goat farmer who ate her goats. She suggested the front quarters were the more tender portions. Was thinking I'd have them save the shoulders as roasts and have them cut a few chops as well. Do you think that plan will work? He's about 100 lbs.

    • @SageandStoneHomestead

      The bucks are castrated young before they can develop the hormones that can make the meat have an off flavor. The buck that we castrated a couple of months ago needs more time for his hormones to leave his system before we process him which is why we are waiting on him. The butcher we talked to said you wait 1 month per year of age post-castration to butcher and the meat tastes great. Havoc is 3 so we wait at least 3 months. :)

We are so grateful for our 199 active members. I do TH-cam as my full time job, and out of the small $2.99 membership TH-cam keeps 30% so $1ish of that. I do understand it's not everyone's preference to pay for extra content and that's fine, but the $3 is not at all expensive for the value within. Members got 10% off their branded mug, and so that discount alone is worth more than the membership itself for one month. It's fine though if bonus content is not wanted its definitely not going to detract from all the valuable free content we do have here on TH-cam, 400 public videos and counting.

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead  24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      There have been studies on cats using raw milk side by side with pasteurized with results that make us more than comfortable giving the kitties random squirts of milk now and then.
      "Perhaps the experiments of Dr. Francis Pottenger in the 1940’s can help to solve this mystery. In these experiments Dr. Pottenger fed one group of cats a diet consisting of raw milk, raw meat and cod liver oil. Other groups were given pasteurized milk, evaporated milk or sweetened condensed milk instead of raw milk. The results were conclusive and astounding. Those that ate raw milk and raw meat did well and lived long, happy, active lives free of any signs of degenerative disease. Those cats on pasteurized milk suffered from acute illnesses (vomiting, diarrhea) and succumbed to every degenerative disease now flourishing in our population, even though they were also getting raw meat and cod liver oil. By the 3rd generation a vast majority of the cats were infertile and exhibited “anti-social” behavior."
