I think part of the reason the animation quality was a little lower this year is because Dokkan puts more into the massive celebrations like Anni and WWC where they’re doing original animations, plus a lot of these newer lrs are some complex they have 2 super attacks, intros, a counter or nullification for some, active skills and ko screens. Keep in mind lr agl VB and lr Zamasu have 7 different animations, where as lr Namek Goku only has 3
they are earning more and more money every year too so maybe its time to increase staff and stuff to tackle this issue dont you think?
While true that their making more, stuff like VB’s 18Ki and FG’s active are completely unprecedented for Dokkan with original animations to this scale.
I think giving them a little wiggle room to figure out how to best go about it is more then fair enough.

@wobblybeans Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying every unit his year has had good animation, hell no I’m not but I think people are way over blowing the fact that this years animations have been worse.
Like sure, Kale had worse animations then all that around her…but I’d argue so did PHY Raditz the year before or even AGL Kid Gohan the year before that.
When we’ve had great looking DFE’s in Super 17, Godku, Piccolo Jr, 23rd Goku along with the great looking LR’s, I just can’t see people saying this year has had bad animations

To this day, the TEQ Androids are among my favorite units to run. Sure, their active is a ghost usher and nothing more. I just like the Androids to begin with. Can't help that their OST is also one of the biggest vibes and their animations still hold up extremely well.
I gotta go with INT SSJ4 Goku of INT Namek Goku. They’re animations are just so aesthetically good to look at.

I think the big difference is now a random filler dfe can have like 4 animations within the same timeframe as years past, and we all know those guys working on animations not getting a budget increase
Which is absurd. Game makes too much money for them to not have a bigger budget.
Honestly, if AGL Vegito Blue was just that 18 ki super attack, he'd easily sweep number one for me. But as an added bonus, he also comes with an _entire unit!_ Peak Dokkan tbh, too bad I didn't get him and had to uninstall.

My favourite active skill transformation/fusion is AGL Vegito Blue. The OST in combination with the overall animation is just breathtaking for me. Especially with the VEGITO BLUE shout. This gives me chills everytime.
Really cool Tier list by the way, but I think DFE Piccolo/Gohan are at least Top 50. The revive is just too much.

This better be a coolness factor list, I can't say Super Trunks looks as much of moving pngs as Super Vegeta.

I think Dokkan didn’t put as much effort as previous years
I like The Goku and vegeta’s from both super broly and zamasu sagas because of my own reasons
All these animations are good in their own right being honedt of course i have my favorites like int ssj4 goku lr sv str futurehan agl 2less gohan but still good (vb would but counting goku/vegeta takes alot)

I think you're probably right with the PHY SSJ4s being the absolute peak of what Dokkan is capable of as a whole package. I think the primary reason it wins out is pretty simple: consistency.
WWDC Vegito had a fantastic fusion, 18 ki, and active, but everything else is subpar. WWDC SSJ Goku is overall consistent, but he doesn't have as many rocking animations as the PHY SSJ4s. The LR Gods are great overall too, but the SSJ4s are of a higher quality (though this is also just my opinion). Beast has the best active in the game, my favorite intro, and as an Ulthan fan I'm extremely happy, but he doesn't have as many animations to work with as the SSJ4s.
Funny enough, I would place Int SSJ4 Goku at #2 just because it's not only very consistent but also some extremely godlike animations-better than the PHY SSJ4s at some point-and Dokkan really managed to get a pop out of me with Int SSJ4.
So yeah, the ones that rock the very top of Dokkan would be the ones with plenty of animations, rocking OSTs, and more importantly, EVERY animation is a big deal.
Dont know why everyone hates on PHY trunks. I love how Dokkany his SAs look
I see someone else enjoys trunks and gotten as well, they might not be the flashiest but they are beautiful animations.

First unit of the video UI Goku, I immediately had him at #3, behind the LR Gods and #1 Blue Gogeta.
I agree we need a good stand alone Goku ssj3 transformation like they never animated the scene when he first goes ssj3 when he shakes the planet that whole scene

What truly grinds my gears is that outside of the transformation and 18 ki for Blugito, he doesnt look as good as even Goten and Trunks. They really popped off with that absolute nothing character lol
LR Gods are objectively the best animations in the game, quality-wise.
They're not even my favorite, but being sourced from the DBS Broly movie just gives them so much to work with vs animations of units taken from the older shows.
And this isn't saying Nano is wrong for liking what he likes, just my 2 cents.
Just throwing it out there I feel like you should keep this going and with every new unit rank them on this list.

Str gogeta is the best. Just wrecks! Also the finishing move ooooff… Int ssj goku is good too cus of the backwards kick is also so good.
Best villain? Cooler by far Cus transformation, and the destruction of nature, punch into water until it dries and kick into mountain.

I dont like the LR AGL Blue's animations a whole lot, but once they become Vegito they just go SO HARD

Yeah, I more or less agree with this list. A shame that 10 of the 2023 units are from the anniversary, Tanabata, and WWC which should be a given by virtue of the celebrations. Meaning the only solid 2023 units animation-wise are from Golden Week.

It always made me sad how some of the really good animations were hidden behind bad conditions that had to be met. Like the animators put so much effort into some animations that are rarely seen

I feel what they lost what due to the fanbase complaining.
They used to make the big LR's have longer SA's, but the players wanted it to be shorter and faster, since they didn't want to watch the animations for as long, and they wanted to play the game.
This led to not only shorter SA, but they started animating SA based of the 2X speed frame rate rather then 1X, where they had to make it so it was faster then 1X, without be int so fast it was a blurry mess, but not too slow that it looked choppy in 1X.
Then that wasn't fast enough, so they shorten it more, then gave players the option to skip actives, intros, etc.
I also fel like they are getting lazy this year and are overusing tweening instead of using frame by frame animation

@Nanogenix only unit I was shocked you didn't include was LR Angel Vegeta and SS3 Goku. Not quite sure if it would make top 50... but at least deserved a mention. Personally I adore the unit and thought they at least deserved a mention. Unless I somehow missed them.
