Buster Crabb seems nothing like the character of Billy The Kid. First he was very young and Crabb isn't in these. He's much taller than the real "Kid". He certainly is more sophisticated than Kid would have been. It didn't seem even remotely believable about the Kid. Otherwise the plot is a good one,.
