    I think it won’t replace the stryfe like platform as it’s completely serious and compact. And has already a lot of aftermarket support. So maybe 3D printer stryfe shells will take the lease. But in stock a spectrum is better

    something i havent really heard talked about is the rate of fire. i have a STOCK spectrum, and can get to a rate of fire worthy of full auto. like, for me, there is no cooldown between shots when revving, so little so, that you can basicly fingerbang it and destroy people with a freakin barrage. i love the spectrum because i have never seen a semi auto flywheeler that can sustain a decent rate of fire, range, accuracy, and no jams. for an off brand stock blaster to do that is just incredible.

  • @benlosi

    6 double a batteries already make a difference when it comes to FPS and power from this thing. I bought two of these the only issue I have is the stock isn't long enough so I hope adventure Force comes out or somebody comes out with more adult size stocks. And having to add a modded mag release.

    • @cside19
      @cside19 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Villainator also made by adventure force has a compatible adult sized stock that works great with this! And the blaster itself is good too so I’d look into that option.

I just think it’s great that you can get this for cheaper than the Hasbro offering, it looks good and works well And it comes with darts that hit what you’re aiming for unlike Hasbro who took away their accurate darts ...too bad Hasbro. Keep up the great work man and stay safe, looking forward to see what you come up with for this one.

      A stock Spectrum is set up for 6 alkaline cells at about 9 volts (1.5V per cell), so 3 3.2V Coolooks and 3 dummy cells would get you similar voltages with a much higher discharge rate. With the Stryfe seeming to be discontinued (the Modulus Stryfe is no longer available on Amazon), and the Phoenix looking somewhat lackluster, the Spectrum may well be the new de facto flywheeler.
    Note that if the Stryfe were still widely available, I think it has a couple of small pros over the Spectrum, technically. It uses fewer batteries, its shell seems a bit more durable, and it has far more aftermarket parts. I think its form factor is better for costume purposes, too. That said, the Spectrum's higher performance and its great price point give it a huge edge, though as a really casual foam-flinger who already has a Stryfe, I think I'd rather put my money toward an Aeon Pro for something different.

      to be fair the spectrum is only a year old, the stryfe has been out for 7 years, and has nearly a decades worth of after market parts. So it's not really a fair comparison.

    • @victort.2583
      @victort.2583 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elijahtamayo1385 To an extent, I feel the entire showdown could be spun as an unfair comparison; one could say the Spectrum had the advantage of seeing where the Stryfe could be improved and access to more recent technological improvements (while the Stryfe was designed to run on older machinery), and find similar justifications for other parameters. While there are variables that could be used to excuse most of the comparison categories, I think the categories are generally still meaningful - and, in a way, grading only what's in front of you can be considered "fair."
      Even so, I feel the availability of aftermarket parts is a fairly small upside, considering how those parts are primarily cosmetic, rather expensive, and marketed toward a relatively small community. I'll readily agree the Spectrum has a huge advantage over the Stryfe with its better performance and pricing.

    • @elijahtamayo1385
      @elijahtamayo1385 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but as the stryfe's availability continues to deteriorate, more people will want to buy the spectrum. Also It gets rid of most of the existing problems that you have to go out of the way to fix such as a few mechanical locks, and a smoother trigger pull. The spectrum already lets you rev up the blaster before putting in a mag, and also has a spongy, but snappy trigger pull. It's clear that dart zone is learning about what Hasbro had over them. An example of this is the dart zone pro MK3 that uses a selecter switch, just like the nerf regulater. So dart zone is using Hasbro's gems to their advantage. If you really just care about using the shell and doing crazy modifications, the stryfe is a much better option since it is compatible with all n strike attachments, and has a lot more compatible kits, expensive kits for sure but that's kinda how the moding community works.

    • @elijahtamayo1385

    I personally would still have a Stryfe. I think purely because the Stryfe can get much smaller than that if you need it to be small, but if you want it to be big, it still can be. I also think it shooting harder is a little overrated, because you buy a Stryfe to plug in your LiPo, not use it stock. Then again, Hasbro discontinued the Stryfe, so as time goes on I’m sure we will get tons of mod kits for this blaster.

    I honestly had no problem with the rev trigger, the problem can easily be fixed if you just put both your middle and ring finger on the rev trigger. If there is any real problem with the spectrum, It's probably the magazine weld. But even that isn't too much of a hassle. It is probably the best option for a blaster close to the stryfe. But it definitely does a bunch of things better than the stryfe . It gets rid of the dumb mechanical locks. Many believe the trigger to spongy, but it is substantially smoother than the stryfe's.

    I just bought 3 for my kids. Well ones for me really. Looking forward to mod parts, a switch plate would be nice. One for the fire trigger also for full auto would be sweet!

    Luke you're absolutely on point about making upgraded parts for this blaster. The Spectrum always sells out making it very popular and very hard to get. Thanks again for another great video!

    What Nerf used to be:
    Great blasters, good price points, fun experiences for all!
    What Nerf is now:
    "GIVE US MONEY, *_PEASANTS!!_* " while having no reason to say that.

    It’s hard to say if this will replace the Stryfe. Essentially, the Stryfe is like the Jolt of flywheel blasters from Nerf.... They just need to keep making them and we will keep buying them. I think the only thing better about the Spectrum is that it performs better out of the box - but none of us are using stock blasters anyway... I don’t think the Spectrum will truly take over unless Nerf stops giving us Stryfes.

    • @outofdarts
      @outofdarts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They sort of have (stopped giving us stryfes). Their last “stryfe clone” from the elite 2.0 lineup is solvent welded together, making it a huge pain to mod.

      @@outofdarts True. There is still hope though, with things like the Dino blasters, Halo-themed blasters (even though the MA40 is more like a Rayven) and new Rival offerings, it seems like there may still be some creativity left over there... Cross your fingers.

    I'm almost exactly a year late, but as someone whose messed with a Spectrum for a while and is too lazy to mod blasters in order to correct ergonomic problems, I've got a small tip for the rev trigger.
    When the blaster's jam door is opened, it can't be revved even if you press down on the trigger. If you're concerned about accidentally pressing the rev trigger while reloading due to needing to grip the handle harder with one hand, open the jam door then close it once you're done reloading.
    I sincerely doubt this will actually benefit anyone, but it looks neat!

    I personally like the muzzle. Comparible to a lot of aftermarket visual muzzles and keeps the look of it being a foam blaster. GET REAL GUNS IF YOU WANT THE LOOK OF A REAL GUN.

    Could you please make some short dart adapters and pushers? That would be great for all of us if you did. Also, could you make some 3d printed pieces for switches? The community would be grateful.

  • @ryandavis3228
    @ryandavis3228 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    What about a feeder that takes one mag and splits the ammo. Or designing your own mags and to go short darts with a longer pusher. I would do a lipo alarm and permanent install a battery with a connector to charge mounted feedthru

    The villianator and spectrum use the same stock attachment points and tactical rail. Will there be any stocks for these two blasters on your shop in the future?
