I get what you're saying and it makes sense. For me, backtesting isn't about testing my emotions while in a trade or seeing how much money I can win (or lose), it's about testing my understanding of my strategy in different scenarios at the same time of the day everyday. It's a part of the journey to becoming a robotic trader. For me tape reading is a bit more emotionally involved than backtesting. Great video man. Respect from Jamaica 🇯🇲

The whole information is logic.Trading live markets has a lot of influences,challenges and different outcomes but its best we learn to master dealing with them all by finding out from the previous week all the weaknesses and strengthes to preapare for the coming week ahead.By doing so,a lot will be fixed yearly and positive outcomes will be produced for term results. It's as you've said, I'm on the journey to become profitable, I have learnt my system , tested it (and it does work) and refined it, however, I for some reason was not able to transfer its profitability onto the live markets and i thought that I just needed to backtest more and so I did a few hours per day and still didn't see profitability live, instead I got "decision paralysis" when it came time to executing when my setups were presented and i was subjected to frustration, doubt in trading system etc., but i simply thought that "I just needed to backtest more, I needed to spend more hours". Thanks for the video, it resonated with me and made a lot of sense; I am missing out on real live trading experience.
True in backtesting even if your strategy is not optimal your brain will also try with out noticing to cheat your way to profitability making small tweeks in the trade that already happened or taking stuff with the canddle already way bigger than how it will look in the real life

Why is it that every time, I finally tried to get a fill of something, one guy on TH-cam comes up to turn it around. When I wasn't backtesting, mark came up and said "backtesting helps you gain more knowledge of the pair you trade" and now you're here telling me that backtesting is a waste of time, bullshit!!. I always listen to you and mark only. But now am confused, So I should stop backtesting or what??. Please Give us a clear reason why
This shows me you have paid no attention at all. I said backtesting is pointless when it comes to GAINING CONFIDENCE to execute in life conditions UNDER PRESSURE. Whenever Mark has referenced backtesting, it has been to attain a greater technical understanding around your system. Two completely different ideas and nothing to get confused about, if you PAY attention. I suggest you watch this video another few times and properly listen. You will never hear Mark tell you that having more knowledge gives you better performance.

I thought, you were referring to backtesting in general as total waste of time, Cause I do backtest to gain more technical understanding of a particular pair and not to gain increase in performance or execution. Thank you for giving me a clear explanation on this. Keep spreading good message
Wheb you backtest, you only test out the strategy, which doesn't or wouldn't make you profitable cause there's zero presence of emotions and patience. If you don't get the point, for about it😂
