    Really appreciate the candidness regarding his own psychological difficulties; especially since it’s coming from a master theorist & clinician, who as a whole tend to be idealised.

    So THIS is the man himself!
    *Four Approaches to Counselling and Psychotherapy* (WD and Jill Mytton) was a truly wonderful text ... very useful to me during my final studies in my B. A. Sc. -equivalence and then also in my M. Ed. studies too.
    Back in my 30s, I was actually running a group at a local hospital (the group just had me doing it because I'd already trained as a teacher by that time): the basis was in REBT, because it was a very practical way of doing therapeutic work - both for oneself and with others.

    REBT is really good Sanjeev, I agree.
    Something that really helps me is Albert Ellis’s question to his clients & readers;
    “What is it, do you think, that you’re telling yourself to make you this way?”
    Really helpful question to offer clients to set them on the road to self-exploration & self-analysis.

    His book 'Reason to Change' has saved me in my Practicum courses for my masters degree. My clients find his ideas to be so helpful.

    From my own perspective being on the right medication had to come first. Once this happened I learnt a great deal from cognitive therapy and psychotherapy. Before my psychiatrist found the correct medical combination neither worked except in a superficial way. I am not saying this is always the case with what I had (extremely deep unipolar depression) but I am saying it may be true in some cases. Sometimes medication is needed to make the foundations and then a therapist can assist the client in building a new life on top of this.

    Throughout the video he looks like he's trying to be as far from the woman as possible. He may be gay and makes it obvious that he's replused by women. Irrespective of his orientation its a negative posture.
    Often kids who are bullied have something off putting about them. And kids pick on them for that reason. Whilst the bullies are rightly vilified for their bullying. The bullied isn't given help with their part in it. Which is a mistake, as they never learn, much like Windy.
    Instead of learning better behaviour such therapists just learn better rebuttal. Deflect attention so they don't have to change themselves.
    It's like he's never changed, despite his theorising and 190+ books. The woman seems so much warmer, with it and grounded.
    He's just into money making and bolstering his fragile ego (very obvious here).
    Anyone who needs to write so many books has some mental issues. Some of the worlds best authors, thinkers, pioneers needed to write only one book. In some cases only one sentence!

      This is quite an outlandish judgment. The fact that you relate personal space boundaries with pure, rigid sexual orientation is quite a reach. He looks comfy to me and quite relaxed with the interviewer. You’re entitled to your opinion but perhaps remain curious and not so judgmental and absolute?

      @@bhags59 ''he MAY be'', how is that absolute?
      Body language speaks louder than words, perhaps you could be more curious about that.
