    I thought after watching this video I was going to have to see a counselor just kidding. To sacrifice a fig tree for the love one has for another is beautiful.

    Hi Lou, I always do enjoy watching your videos. So many thanks.
    That has been said; I will address the main topic of the video.
    In case cutting or pruning has not started yet; here is my thoughts.
    We all share the decision making; Debie, Yourself and us the audience 🤭.
    Considering that the trees are getting huge and covering the house,
    And bearing in mind that those fig trees are carrying lots of tasty figs;
    And further noting that; we the audience enjoy the scene of the fig trees and the words of wisdom associated with the video;
    Here are my thoughts:
    a) Keep the trees till season is over.
    b) Prune the tree but not knock it down.
    c) train them in certain direction to control their growth.
    Greetings from the other part of the world - Dubai, UAE.

    I enjoyed listening to you trying to convince yourself. A man torn between lots of figs, half his stuff and solitude orrrrr. Ha. So enjoyable watching it happen to someone else.

    I’m a little jealous of the neighbors and all of the awesome cuttings they’ll have access to if you don’t cut them back lol

    Too many? That`s crazy talk! I`ve planted lots of extra fruit trees so the birds and I can both be happy and not fight over them.

    You are so lucky. I only grew one after dozens of attempts and countless videos. After 3 years, ready to fruit, gophers ate the tree. Every branch and leaf disappeared. I wish I had your problem. 😅

    You heart tell you what you need to do. Listen to the wife. She have to enjoy the property too. Keep garden areas for her, and plant in the outside perimeter without blocking the views you want to enjoy.
    By the way, thanks for all the knowledge.
    I started 3 years ago in zone 7b, Greensboro, NC. Own 34 varieties.

    Where's the problem Lou? Let them fruit, cut them down at the end of the season and send out cuttings to the viewers. Get Deb a new purse, works everytime.

    Hi Lou on this beautiful day! I get Miss Debbie's point...she wants the house to be seen! So, prune, prune, prune and if you have to take out a tree or two, donate it to your Son or another family member or even a good friend! Also, holy smokes, I've never seen a Hardy Chicago that big!! Love your beautiful, peaceful trees! You have a lot of work ahead of you so...Best of Luck to you! Take care!

    Amend your soil heavy with organic material for the RDB to get past the nematodes. I planted a little bit away from the house no cutting back here.

      Hi.
      Lou as I always do I enjoyed your videos.
      Jachchart: I am also suffering from bad nematodes. Would organic fertilizer would help combating bad nematodes?
      I live in a very hot area over 110 F these days (Dubai).
      Thank you all

      @@saeedal-bahhar7683 I was told that the golf courses will try to keep them at bay with increased fertilizer regiment but I don’t know if the trees will take it without burning the roots. Mushroom compost wood chips leaves straw, mix it into the soil but if the tree is already infected I don’t think you can do anything but dig it up and maybe root prune the knots off if that even works. I may have the same problem here in FL.

  • @Athabina

    If possible wait until the brebas ripen and take down the bigger trees to a level of about 5 feet tall so as to preserve the main trunks

  • @lukeott58
    @lukeott58 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Lou, it’s definitely not the right time of year to be pruning fig trees. Wait till they go dormant. It’s less stress on them.

    Never too many! Where can I get cuttings of your trees? I'm 73 and will be too old if you wait any longerto make them available... off the beaten path would be good to distribute them. Call him and tell him to come over to get cuttings for his nursery.
