Chris, thanks for this. I'm sure anyone looking to improve their improvisation skills with surely get something great from watching this. Hats off, brother!
I listen to Mr. Potter play with Snarky Puppy the tune Linges! Lmao… never heard playing like that that transcribed Solo, All I was asking myself “ does He Know what to play” or is that they way it ended up . This guy is incredible
This generous masterclass was a gift for humanity and future generations of musicians. Thanks so much for sharing this! He demystified practically everything!!!!
I remember during one of these livestreams someone asked him "do you have any insight on cerebral signal, attitude, and mental while playing" and he was like "uhhhhh, i don't know..."
truly amazing as a first chair tenor player from the conservatory of music in 81 ~ have pulled out all the stops~ clearly you do not smoke weed~ as you practice often and can hear that you're winded~ an emotional/spiritual connection~ one that you absolve so succinctly~
im curious why you mention drug use? i say this not to glorify the lifestyle, but some of the greatest artists in jazz history died as a result of their drug addictions, heroin especially. they all smoked, they all drank, and we look back at them as geniuses. not because they thought about what they did but because their souls produced something beautiful
Hello Chris Potter, You are a fantastic musician! Would Johon Coltrane or Charlie Parker would have share that, this knowledge? Is it not going to fast for all of us? You are moving very fast, who can follow? I don't know where I'm going (a long night listening to you) , you seems a really cool guy;) cheers, and thanks for your master class (I've seen you in real in Montpellier, maybe in 2002? at the JAM) and again, thanks about your sharing, I'm improving;)
Yeah, those are very rare. There are only handful of Selmer Mark 6.5 tenors out there. I think JK Rowling got one for her amazing work on Hairy Putter and The Prisoner of AlcaJazz.
I can’t be happier to get to capture this gem of a video that helped to inspire much more people!
Such a great human

That was so great in so many levels, thanks very much for sharing this.
Thank you Chris Potter!
Thx for uploading. It always strikes how humble some of the greatest always are.
The concert on the festival Porquerolles with Francies keys and Harland drums was the best, a summit in creation
Truly this is one of the best masterclasses I have ever seen.
*A truly beautiful soul💗*
*Mahatma Messiah of the tenor saxophone 🎷🌞 ॐ *

Well, Chris was a prodigy and has now been at it for 4 decades+. He’s a kind and gentle person, but not a scientist or researcher.
