  • RunCam's Night Eagle 3 has proven a more-than-effective tool in Team-Legit's night game toolbox! Low-light flying environments are a blast to explore with a "starlight" camera like this. In this video, Ian attempts to demonstrate the camera's technical performance. Mostly direct-captured ground footage here...flying footage will have to wait for the next one :)
    Night Eagle 3 camera for sale in our webstore:
    team-legit.com/runcam-nightea...
    Ian's Recommended Tweaks, based on how the cameras are shipping in Aug-2022:
    Day & Night mode: COLOR (Default is AUTO)
    Sharpness: Slightly reduced from stock value...~3
    Digital Noise Reduction (DNR): OFF (Default is LOW)
    If flying in urban areas: Shutter mode: FLICKER (Default is AUTO)
    Note: This video is mastered in 1080p60 resolution, and the standard definition video clips within are best viewed at 1080p60. Due to the nature of interlaced video, the apparent image resolution is improved by viewing at high framerate. This is what your eye should see when flying live. TH-cam does not display standard definition video resolutions at high framerate, so locking your TH-cam resolution to 1080p60 will give the best representation of these analog FPV images.

    That was very thorough and lots of work I'm sure. Great job and really appreciate the comparisons to the other cams. It's a very impressive camera. And anyone that wants this should buy it from you!

    Very clear "IR pollution" in the night too, like purple trees and funny looking light from eg. car signals. Yet, it is better to see colors oddly if you see more. Seems nice!

    Although most people would complain about the pink effect during daytime, I think it looks cool as hell and could be used to film vaporwave-style footage. Also the crappy video feed at 7:29 is PERFECT for achieving the VHS effect without using filter editing software

    Nice video, just bought the RH-55 from your site to use it in the runcam thumb.... what lens can I get with ir filtering for the night eagle? is this camera 1000TVL or 1500TVL ? in the official runcam site it says 1500 but in some places it says 1000

    • @FPVTeamLegit
      @FPVTeamLegit  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Any "M12" size lens will mount to the Night Eagle 3 for you to experiment with. The TVL of the camera sensor I am not 100% sure on. Regardless, remember that analog broadcast is only ~720 horizontal lines, so the camera will over-sample for broadcast regardless.

    I really appreciate you posting this video! Thanks!
    So, it doesn't damage this camera to be hit with full sunlight? It just looks really bad?
    Is there an IR filter that could possibly be retrofit over this camera, or do you have to have lenses for this?
    I'd love to make both night vision goggles and a decent day/night drone with this.

    • @FPVTeamLegit
      @FPVTeamLegit  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As far as I know, there is no risk to using the camera in daylight. The IR filters in this video are sourced from Amazon. It might be possible to epoxy a filter onto the rear of the lens rather than fit it over the front, but you're doing the exploring there ;)

    Runcam should've included a snug fitting slide on IR filter with it.

    Thank you a lot for this demonstration i just discovered in your channel. One question: i see that there is under the option "EXPOSURE", three "SHUTTER" modes for this camera: "AUTO", "MANUAL" and "FLICKER". Could you elaborate a bit more on the "MANUAL" one please (you were speaking only about the "AUTO" and "FLICKER", if i do not mistake myself)! Thank you in advance for this complement. Great job, anyway! Regards.

      I believe that is to manually constrain the shutter speed to a specific duration such as 1/60th, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

      @@FPVTeamLegit , thank you for your reply.... I am curious to know, if it is the case, if it would be possible to constrain the shutter speed at another rate, like for instance 1/25th.... Just thought for food...

    Depending on lag, this might be a good option to put in digital night vision tubes

      I didn't do a measured lag test, but observed no noticeable lag in use.

      Yeah its rough in a small town in the woods. Mostly dark static. You need an ir light to make good use of it

    the reason to get an expensive star light camera is to fly both night and day without adding something or access to osd menu all the time, if it output everything in pinkish, you can buy a cheap CCD and remove the hotmirror in lens for full spectrum vision

    • @heyarno
      @heyarno ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A eletrically removable filter, would add weight. Not everyone wants to compromise on night performance for daylight performance, when buying a night camera specifically.

      you right, it will add weight. I did one experiment by removing caddx ANT's ir filter and compare it with foxeer CAT3. still the night specific camera do better. somehow ANT without IR filter give extra clarity in night also it improve a lot in shade when fly indoor, the color was off by a bit but overall looks better.
