    Thanks. This is the ONLY video I have found that shows someone removing the actual ignition starter switch. Everyone else only shows removing the dumb key cylinder or just the wires and call the wires the ignition starter switch. My trucks been sitting for days cause I cant find that shoe box looking switch on my S10. But, this video gives me an idea of where to look. Thanks again.

      How did you lower the steering column?

    Thanks bro. I wasted 2 hours trying to bend the metal rod to stick it in the hole but all I had to do is flip the switch over. Had I not saw this vid I’d be still sweating it out. Only video with thorough instructions.

    I was looking for the way the switch is mounted and this video revealed that. Thumbs up!!

    i watched this before i changed mine, very helpful... i did however found more room to work by placing a board to hold in the clutch pedal...

    Thanks for the video. I used this when I changed out my ignition switch which I purchased from AutoZone for $21.99 (minus 10% Military discount). I was able to drop the steering column without having to loosen any bolts on the inside of the engine bay. Itwas a pain trying to get everything perfectly aligned and bolted back together. This fixed my no start issue which I originally blamed on the starter. I had replaced the started with a higher quality starter which starts the engine over much faster than previous starters.

    Gotta love the tiny 5/16 and 10 mm bolts holding precision

    Did you have to rotate the switch to hook up the rod ? did you have to remove a plastic button on switch to hook up rod ?

    I totally agree with you brother!! Makes no sense to me as well.
    Why even place it on top of the column???

    • @dhgcrack3r111
      @dhgcrack3r111 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because it’s mechanical I guess and easy to access

    I think the dime you found just fell behind the dash and wasn't part of an attempt to fix anything. It's visible just resting on top of the steering column @ 4:56

    Is there a way to test the existing switch to know if that is what is Bad?

      I don’t know. The switch was cheap so I just replaced it.

    Hook the hot wire to the battery and a toggle switch it's just a dump truck

    All that and you could not show if that was the solution?

    • @BrantleyBlended
      @BrantleyBlended  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was not the solution. I had to take the carburetor apart and clean it really good.

      @@BrantleyBlended yeah dude if shes turning over its not the ignition switch, it would be a fuel or combustion issues.

    $13.50 for an ignition switch that's impressive compared to modern Chevys are like $80 to $100 and that's if the security system doesn't lock you out when you replace it

    • @BrantleyBlended
      @BrantleyBlended  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think a lot of parts for these older Chevys are pretty cheap. Also, they are much easier to work on than newer trucks. That’s good for me because I don’t really know what I’m doing.
