This is definitely a bucket-list item to fly in/out of Lukla.
I definitely highly recommend. I've flown three times and even with helicopter once.

A great video showing the operations of aircraft at this small airport in the Himalayan mountains. I can certainly see why it is considered one of the world's most dangerous airports. Certainly no room for mechanical problems or pilot error. Love the views from the cockpit while landing and takeoff. Thank you for sharing.

Absolutely incredible footage dear Petr from beginning to end this was deeply engaging my friend. That plane ride looked like you had to have nerves of steel to get on it in the first place. Hi Petr, my gosh what a amazing film and scarry landings. Nothing more then respects for those pilots doing this everyday. Like a very steep landing path, big dive and full for the break, thats what you see when the plane bounces on its brakes :)

this whole thing of designing the runway uphill to support the breaking when you land and downhill to help reach the speed faster, seems like a brilliant idea. Why it is not more common in "compact" airports?
In Lukla, it is determined by the terrain. That's why the runway is downhill :-)

I was there for the last time in 2012 and the helipad was used. I don't know now.

Not sure what is more dangerous, Landing on the runway, Taking off from the runway, or Living next to the runway.
It will probably be just as dangerous :-)
Landing, for sure. No go-around, a wall at the end of the runway and a mountain beyond that. Pilots have to complete additional training before they are licensed to fly there.

Za hustý mlhy je to v prdeli protože se pak nelétá. V roce 2010 jsme tam čekali 4 dny..... 😀
