This synth has such a big, rich sound to it. Crazy that there's no reverb added! I'm considering saving up for one, but I can't decide between this, a Summit, an OB-6, or a couple others. It seems like each of them has strengths that the others don't. But almost everything I hear from a Super 6 on TH-cam is wonderful. I love the pads and ambient stuff with that wide stereo field, and it's almost never harsh sounding.
Flipping that around - I don't hear a need for reverb. That's really what this synth does so amazingly. I can tell you that as a former summit but now peak owner - relying on internal effects ain't all that.

I was shaking my head every so often while listening to this video, as it is just amazing how good this synth (and the patches) sound. Mine is coming in a month or so and I will certainly be purchasing these.

Sounds wonderful and I could listen to it for hours, but it tends to lend itself to very triumphant supersaws and airy fantasy soundtrack and emotional alien landscape stuff 23:56. I was able to have one in the studio for a while and thoroughly enjoyed it, but it didn’t really suit my needs as far as what I was looking for, sonically. The build quality is off the charts, though. If I can sum it up in one sentence, it's a Virus for 2021 that doesn't reek of Rave Sirens.
I'm just 2 weeks into owning one, and it's a joy to hear and program. One weak link sonically, i think, is the delay effect. As delays go, it's thin and uninspiring. I do wish it had a mod wheel, and I wish the arpeggiator had a mode that arpeggiates in the order you played the notes. BUT, I'm not complaining really. I'm very happy with it, and the feel of the keys, switches, and knobs is first rate! Nothing flimsy here, and that's part of what you are paying for.
Thanks man, yeah quite a lot of work especially making and auditioning the custom waves - they don't always sound as you would expect, so many were scrapped. Still enjoying a lot of the great content on your channel.
@@transceive Yeah, the custom waves are tricky, they don’t always sound the way you think they might, and it can be hard to find good loop points so they don’t buzz.
I would love to know how you programmed the Fairlight Sararr sound at 28:18. I don't have a Super 6, but it would be great to try to recreate this on some other synths I have.
Hi, That patch uses a custom wave which is a converted wavetable of the original sample. I used the S6's DDS super detune & chorus to thicken it up and layered with a PWM'd square on Osc 2 So you'd need a synth that can play samples or wavetables and simulate the layering & chorus effect

I like this synth a lot. The patch 'Slow Desent' is stunning!

Yes similar but I personally think the super 6 sounds fatter than the virus etc. Also you can add that supersaw effect to anything not just saw waves
