  • Hi friends. Just wanted to have a little sit and chat about where I'm at a year after losing my dad. This was a very therapeutic video for me to do, so thanks for bearing with me. I felt like I needed to put this kind of thing out into the world.
Hope you're all doing well, and we'll be back to crafting this Saturday! xo

Just being able to tell someone, they listen and respect your feelings without dismissing them is good. I doubt there is a right thing to say... but to understand your feelings... like if they understand losing someone also.

Yeah, it's hard to put into words, but most people get it to some degree.

I appreciate you sharing this. I get it, I think. I relate, anyway. Most people mean well, but they don’t really want to know the truth of the moment. The few will listen and let you be. Grief is tricky because, in my opinion, you never “get over it” and I don’t think it actually ever “gets better”. When my Mom passed, I couldn’t find solace anywhere or with anyone. I think just learning to choose to put one foot in front of the other, and allowing those moments of joy in is what fuels the momentum.

Nothing anyone says will ever make it better, people can relate, but not the same way, it's different for each person, but just know that you are loved, you have lots of extended family on here who care about you! Also thank you for sharing stories about your dad with us, that means a lot. Remember all the good times with him, and know you never have to hide your feelings, all of us are here anytime you need to laugh, cry or just vent, let us help, we can handle it! Sending you lots of hugs! 💕❤️💜💖💞💙♥️💗

I'm already emotional because today is my daughter's first birthday. I can't finish this video. Your dad sounds like a cool guy. Especially the making pogs from sticks. I don't know what to say... I'm sorry. Life sucks sometimes. 💜💜💜

Please continue to be kind to yourself.
For help with grief there is a good podcast called Terrible, Thanks for Asking and people go on and share their stories and even tho they are sad they actually uplift and are positive. They have an Instagram group called Hot Young Widows Club where people that have lost their spouses share their stories and they all say it has helped them.
    Love you.

@@holycrappitsjo it has to do with when you are dealing with grief people often ask how you are doing and they do not want the real answer which is "Terrible, thanks for asking" that is where the title comes from. People want you to move on but not too quickly and she talks about that part of it in her book, It's Okay to Laugh (Crying is Cool too) by Nora McInerny Purmort and on her TedTalk.
She has such a darkish deep sarcasm sense of humor which I revel in.

First everything after you lose someone sucks. I feel you, girlie. We lost my Gram 12/22, and it's been a weird year of 1sts without her. Mother's Day was hard for sure and her birthday is just a few days before that, so especially so this year. So far we've muddled through with tears, and 94 years of great memories. It feels nice to get things out like this. I wish you lots and lots of love as you muddle through the week with lots of good memories, and maybe some tears. You are not alone, my sweet
