I have one, it was my first car, I bought from a junkyard and it had rust, no muffler and a leak on the roof but it drove amazingly well, I bought it as a throw-away car to get me from A to B, but it became an amazing companion, so I restored it and stll drive it, even with 280000 miles I love it and I'll never sell it.
@Monica Yeah, as far as I know, it is normal as the car is cold and old engines burn gas a little less efficiently. But if the smell lingers on, it could use a tuneup, or maybe a rubber seal on the injectors might be loose or needs replacing. I wouldn’t worry that much about that though. The odometer on mine has stopped working after crossing 300k but the car still works amazingly, I recently put some gorgeous BBS basketweaves on it and I could not be happier, even if it isn’t my daily driver anymore
The problem with that old way of thinking was also bad for guys. You get a bad arm or have a disability, you're made out to be "less than a man" since only "women will have trouble with this." I'm glad that old way of thinking is going out. ps. Nowadays I imagine they would just say it would be a struggle if your arms were full or couldn't reach. Let the viewer decide what that means for him- or herself.
Used to watch this show religiously with my dad. Who knew I would actually own this car someday? I pamper that thing though, I wouldn't dare run it through the gauntlet like this!
3:55 absolutely no dive on high speed braking. These truly set the bar. They don’t mention the convertible top but it was several layers sound and temp insulation. Wonderful sporting cabriolet.
Love our '87 E30 convertible, it's such a fun automobile. And I used to watch MotorWeek religiously with my dad back in the day. It's almost a little surreal to see my car on here.. the sounds and performance numbers are pretty similar to ours (all stock, no modifications). Funny to see porn-'stache guy struggling to put the top down like we did when we first bought it. Lol
I had a 428i, not sure how or why it's junk, the car drove like it was on rails, could literally do anything, had great build quality, could stop on a dime, had amazing tech, was comfortable and dramatically faster than this car. These people that say everything today is junk are just dbags who can't afford anything new so they pretend something they buy for $2000 is better than what you can get today. Hint: It's not, dummy.
I had a 1987 325i Convertible. It was a great car. Traded it in for a 1995 325 I convertible 5 speed. That car was literally perfect. I made the UNFORTUNATE decision to replace that 1995 with a 2005 SLK. I had the 1995 for 10 years. It was not in need of replacement and I was concentrating on my education at the time, no money for cars. What A PILE OF GARBAGE the SLK was!!! After having that for a little over two years, I ordered a 2007 328i hardtop, which was BOUGHT BACK by BMW 6 months after delivery because of an issue with the hardtop convertible. I replaced it with a 2008 335i convertible and that was junk because of the fuel pump issues. I kept it until I got a Porsche Boxster S in 2010. Kept that until 2013, got a Mercedes E550 convertible. That v8 was pure driving finesse. Traded the 2013 for a 2019 E53 Convertible. I miss my v8, but this EClass is the best car I've ever owned, and as you can tell, I've had many cars. I've had a convertible and a family car both at the same time. My "family" car currently is a 2019 Panamera 4s
I LOVE the BMW theme this week & really think you should consider themed weeks for all the Retro Reviews. You know, Acura Week, Buick Week, Chevrolet Week, Dodge Week, Ford Week, Honda Week, etc.
+landyachtfan79 Great idea!! How about Toyota Week, Volvo Week, Mazda Week, and Hyundai Week? It'll be interesting saga of reviews with the hits & misses on a car!
***** I missed the"hits" and "misses" on current MotorWeek reviews. "Hits" is defined on what improved or changed; what they like about it. "Misses" is defined on what they don't like about the car; what needs to be improved and/or changed about the car. I watched MotorWeek when I was born on July 16, 1994.
Bought this car 3 years ago it was a mess missing electronics and different engine, but today after using some hard earned cash 218hp from the e36 engine new radio sport suspension which also makes it a true low rider
Miss my e30 convertible bad, such a great car, great stickshift, great heated seats, well designed top, room for 4 and a good size boot, didn't leak in the rain.. The only failing is that they look bad with a roll bar.
I have two of these a 1988 and a 1990. Both convertibles. They run forever. I drive the 1990 to work everyday. The mechanics at BMW what to buy them off me and I I get notes left on the windshield all the time.
MrCarGuy20 And yet you seem a lot more childish calling someone ignorant because he misheard naught. The ignorance of middle aged parents basement dwelling internet trolls is astonishing.
99gt03cobra You can't "mishear" a word that is pronounced no differently than another word. He's just simply never understood what it means in context and when people say stupid shit like this, especially on the modern and lazy internet of societal mishap, it just irks my ass off. Most clearly, however, of all, the word "not" is a word defined unilaterally and learned by most at the age of 3.
I love my 89 325i e30 cabriolet its super lovely and its a great lil car and its a project car right now in progress tho but i aint selling it for anything else 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
The one I test drove around 1991 had a power top. Sadly I just couldn't afford the thing and had to "settle" for a 325i coupe instead. Loved that car wish I had kept it.
These were great cars! Go to an Ivy League or Patriot League football tailgate in the late 80's and you were sure to find at least a handful. I feel like these were the token weekend car of upscale Northeast suburbia at the time.
I like tech, I like cars, I like tech in my cars. Because you're too old or too stupid to understand more than 2 buttons at a time, that doesn't mean everyone else is.

"The roof is too heavy for the women who will be driving this car" Oh boy, I can imagine how that would go over if this thing came out today.

I have one as well. One of the good things about the car is that it takes well to being driven a bit harder, and it actually prefers it a lot

@Monica yea that’s sounds like a problem like something leaking out or anything with your fuel
