Resistance is actually fine in fact it is recommended you go in with phys and death resist it's null drain or reflect elements that cause Gaia Rage spam
Heres the thing: Liz is predictable, and as long as you know what she does she is relatively easy and you can beat her in 2-3 tries. Demifiend just throws a coin every round. Heads and he shoves your sh*t so far in it comes out the other side, tails and you die unless you are asleep and have "dodge everything while asleep".
I was actually fighting him recently. He landed a Triple Mamudoon on my whole party. And I had just gotten him to cycle through all his demons, too ;~;
Like goddamn man you go through the fight expecting to come out at top but next thing you the your dead because this elephant asshole here decided to spam death.
Fun fact. In Persona 5 Royal's new block of mementos, theres a special enemy spawn consisting of a Pixie, High Pixie and Parvati, all unrecruitable, unoffically called "super shadows". The High Pixie will cast Matarukaja, the Parvati will cast Lullaby... and then the Pixie will cast Megidolaon.

The best fight in the history of turn based RPG. The only challenging one no matter how perfectly you prepare. Different strategies available still but every one needs some luck here and there. He summons various demons with different and very interesting skills and it all plays together so nicely. The fact that you used to be him in the previous game adds a cherry on top. Honestly, I'd just quit and reload my last save (or load a save state if playing via PCSX2) the moment I know GR is coming and there's no surviving it thanks to a Dormina fail. Really, game? *Now* is not the time for Sleep to wear off before the enemy turn!
But why though? How can you kill most of the demons and only then trigger Gaea Rage? He will do it if you have null, repel and e.t.c. but it's like death at first or second turn either way.
._. I tried to fight him ~20 times. I managed to get everyone to fall asleep about 3 times. When they fall asleep it's not even over cause each time I was fully debuffed and Demifiend fully buffed before my characters woke up and then they died the very round they woke up. After that I decided to screw the rng and stop trying.
Can't quite do that when you get killed before you wake up. Once or twice I woke up but because of all the enemy buffing and party de-buffing, my entire party was killed at full HP during the first enemy turn after I woke up.
If you use the red star trick, you only need to live once the gaea rage. None of my characters even got put to sleep when i won; heat close call got me through it.
I'd love a version with his strongest demons. Just a prompt before his battle that says "Are you sure you wish to throw away your life?" before he slaps you into another dimension.

Noucturn demi fiend is different and much more powerful than his messiah counter part. A- he's a full demon. Messiah demi fiend Isn't B- he beat raidou who's superior to Mido who's on par with Stephen. That's how much power difference there is between the noucturn demi fiend, messiah demi fiend and solar data demi fiend.
Yeah, Close Call is available and it ends up saving me on my successful run. Itll bring you back to your human form and only once per battle, so it's a nice last resort.

It's a reference to Nocturne where a Pixie you get early on has the ability to evolve into much stronger forms, as well as a long running joke of a pixie using super strong skills like Megidolaon
In smt nocturne if you take the starting pixie all the way to the final dungeon you get an upgraded form referred to as "uber pixie" has things like megidoloan and msziodyne
There is a reference to this in p5r in the final mementos area. There is a floor that spawns a high pixie, pixie and something else idr. Pixie just spams megidoloan
You need the Null Sleep skill, which makes you invincible as long as you're asleep. "What if the sleep skill misses or you wake up beforehand?" then you die with nothing you can do about it~ fight sucks!

The game counts how many times he has cast Summon, and if the number is even he will cast Gaea Rage once 3) I think (not confirmed) that he will cast Gaea Rage if a set number of turns has passed since the last time he cast Gaea Rage, thus forcing the player to invoke condition 2 on their own terms Things to keep in mind: A) Gaea Rage can miss (but this is super rare and not to be relied on) B) You can swap out party members at any time; the usual strategy is to load up your big three party members for actual battle, and everyone else with Close Call, swapping them in each time Condition 2 is about to happen. C) For unknown reasons, Null Sleep does not satisfy condition 1. See Zenosyke's comment for more info
