T.E. Lawrence (aka Lawrence of Arabia) was a british officer who had the mission to lead the Arab tibes against the Ottoman (Turkish) Empire. The Ottomans were allies of Germany in WW1.Oh, Indy Neidell who played Lawrence in this video is the host of the videos on the Sabaton History Channel.
Check out the Animated STORY Videos to "Night Witches" and "No Bullets Fly". But don't confuse them with the music videos because these don't tell the story but only play the song.
Or the lyric video to "Red Baron" the famous German flying ace (Manfred von Richthofen) from WW1 who got 80 confirmed aeriel victories. Or check out their live performanes at the Woodstock (now Pol'n'Rock) Festival in Poland from 2012:

During the filming, the band members suffered a car accident on the way back from the filming in the Tunisian desert, fortunately only slightly injured.

Floor was with her band Revamp.. and both Revamp and Sabaton were supporting Iced Earth in the U.S.

Great reaction! You and Sarah really need to react to “Night Witches” by Sabaton. The song tells the story of the extremely courageous young female Russian bomber pilots of the 588th Regiment of the Soviet Air Force during World War 2. They flew in canvas bi-planes and attacked the Germans relentlessly throughout the War. The Germans were so afraid of them that they called them “The Nachthexen” or Night Witches. Be sure to watch the full animated video version. It’s excellent and the song is an absolute banger. I think Sarah would love it too. It’s a great story and... Girl power! Also “No Bullets Fly” ( be sure to watch the complete animated story video because it has some great surprises) is a great Sabaton song with an excellent true story about a B-17 Bomber pilot and a German pilot that many would never believe. I gotta say though... “Ghost Division” “Attack of the Dead Men” and “Devil Dogs” might be my favorite songs though. Awww heck... I love all of ‘em. 🙂😆

Love this song! So catchy! The guy who is playing Lawrence is a historian who hosts their history channel, Indy Neidell. Seven Pillars of Wisdom is the name of the book written by Lawrence himself. Joakim read it and said it was a bit dry 😅
Night Witches animated story video and No bullets fly story video aswell is a must. Both the stories and the music is really good. The Nightwitches one u should definitely do with wifey. The Night witches was some badass Soviet women during ww2. Most of both Sabaton and Nightwish songs have subtitles, might help you out abit or atleast your wife as she often talks about wanting to know the text. Just make sure its the longer version thats named animated story video as that includes the story aswell as the song.

Hey man that's so cool that you discovered metal so late in your life! Awsome experience. I'm glad you are enjoying Sabaton. I have been listening to really hard metal since I was a teen, but I also love the more catchy/poppy stuff like Sabaton. So it's a good way to start! Plus they are from my country, Sweden! The Carolus rex album was my introduction to Sabaton, cause it's about our history as a superpower.

Sabaton with Floor just coming on stage = Funny greetings from the Netherlands!!! Ben.
Sabaton toured together with Floors second band ReVamp in 2014, it was the last ReVamp tour and Floor was just the official NW singer.
Hannes band mates told him they had to tour with the NW singer but he didn't know who she is. One night someone knocked his changing room door, he opened and was Floor with a bottle of whisky and 2 cigares. In an interview they told the story. He said he immediately thought he must marry this woman. So funny.
In the last years Floor had some collaboration with them, she did the backing vocals in one album and the lead vocal in a song of the last album, an instrumental version of The Future of Warfare (Soundtrack Version).
Also the guitar player Tommy Johansson recently arranged at least one of the Floor covers, Ave Maria, the famous Schubert song.
Edit: he is credited in the last 3 Floor covers, so also Adagio, a Lara Fabian song, and Oblivion, soundtrack of the movie with Tom Cruise.
For Sabaton please consider, when possible, a doubble reaction with the studio/lyrics/animation video, really helpfull to understand the story, and the live version, they are epic live.
For live Sabaton reaction I strongly suggest you the Wacken 2019 show, where they played at the same time in both the stages, with their actual members and the old band members.
Also the Woodstock Poland 2012 is awesome, especially the song 40:1, it's about the bravery of a polish battalion against the German army and outnumbered 40 to 1, and Uprising about the Polish resistence of the Warsaw people. Consider that they was singing this in Poland in front of a 400k audience. Pretty impressive.
As we are talking about Poland, another amazing song is Winged Hussars, about the polish cavalry who defeated the Ottoman Empire during the Vienna siege. A lot of history to study :P
11:36 - The bar that you are thinking of is most often associated with the song "Streets of Cairo", which became popular in the late 1800s and early 1900s and used that little twelve-note hook which was from the song "Melodie Arabe" and was used in the 1893 Chicago World's Fair (World's Columbian Exposition, held for the 400th anniversary of Columbus' voyage to the Americas) attraction called "A Street in Cairo", which inspired James Thornton to write "Streets of Cairo".

I am sure many have said it, but it can’t be mentioned enough, but all Sabaton songs is based on history and if you want to know more about the actual history, Sabaton have already solved that. To every song there is at least one episod on Sabaton history channel that you can look up where some of the band members talks about the song and history together with an historian. You just have to check that out.
Another thing, I did see your reaction of Meahuggah, and watching Sabaton gave me an idea. There is this band that fo a lot of Viking related history/mythology. They are also Swedish and called Amon Amarth.. it is a bit like Sabaton but with growls.. I think you should react to aome of their aongs “twilight of the thundergod”, “raise your horns”, or Fafnira Gold (I am sure you will recognise that story form lord of the rings as Lord if the rings is partly based on that story). I think you might enjoy that much more then Meshuggah as they are one of the most extreme metal bands there is and it is difficult to just jump in to that.
Definitely watch the Sabaton history Channel on each song, they are amazing. Everyone else has said pretty much everything already lol... great vid, love that Sarah loved it too🤘 pretty much a comment for the algorithm 😉

There is a lot of people - many of them are Reactors - who say that if teaching of history in school had been done this way they would have been much more interested and learned more of it.
During Sabaton's last tour in late 2019 and early 2020 they had Nightwish as warm-up band so yes, they have toured together in the past. It's a clever way to solve the problem with the baby sitter, they basically didn't need one. First mummy is on stage with Nightwish and daddy is baby sitting, then daddy went out to Sabaton's concert and mummy is baby sitting.
I watched an interview with the guitarist Chris Rörland a while back, and one of the questions was "What is your favorite guitar solo?" At first he just answered casually "My own solo's of course", but when pressed to specify one he said the solo in this song.

Your wife mentioned liking that Middle Eastern sound in SPoW. She then would love a metal band called Myrath (Meer-ath). They are a Tunisian band with a really nice Middle Eastern touch. It works perfectly together. I would recommend the song “Dance” first. It is specifically about a Syrian belly dancer who was kidnapped by ISIS after refusing to stop dancing. More generally, it is also a call to Muslim youth to abandon sharia and “dance” with modernity. There is both a video and live performance available online.
Well if you wana hear them live, they are coming to the US in september-october 2021, might want to check out which city is closest to you on their website.

Nice reaction! Sabaton are great, killer melodies! If you like the arabian vibe, you have to listen to Myrath. They are a Tunisian metal band, and they incorporate arabian/middle eastern music themes into metal. Simply great! Another suggestion which I have not seen is Rhapsody/Rhapsody of Fire. They were really big around 20 years ago, and one of the most influential bands in Symphonic/Power metal for more recent bands. Unfortunately they split in two bands back in 2012, after which they have kept dropping in popularity. So if you do check Rhapsody/Rhapsody of Fire out, make sure it is a song from before 2012.

Sabaton are mostly known for their historically-based songs, but besides these songs they have fantastic non-historical music as well. In fact, most of the songs off my favorite album of theirs, Fist for Fight, aren't related to historical events at all

I don't know if you are aware of it, but Sabaton have a history channel, where they talk about the story behind the song, its usually one band member + an Historian (Indy Neidell), Indy is such an amazing story teller, you really should check out the story behinds their songs. Also Indy is the one playing T.E Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia), in this Video.

It's simply not the Swedish pronunciation.
I've known/met plenty of people called Joakim in my lifetime.
It's a common name in Sweden.
In the case of Joakim Brodén you can just listen to what his band mates call him.
Scrooge McDuck is actually called Joakim Von Anka in Sweden so you can also listen to the Swedish version of the intro song of Ducktales. ;)
But if we're talking about the French, Portuguese or Spanish versions of the name I believe your friend would be closer to home.
It might simply be that he has ancestry from abroad and uses a different pronunciation.

It is easy to forget that the western front and eastern front in Europe was not the one fronts in the first world war. The most common thing for people in western Europe and the US think about in relation to the First World War is the trench warfare in Europe. For people in Australia and New Zeeland I guess Gallipoli stands out and in the middle east you have the arab revolt again the Ottomans. The Arab Tribes was hoping to break free and have a opportunity to found there own nation but the allies did not honor the loose promise they had with the Arabs after the war. Lawrence was not too happy with that.
