Dimash is completely acting this song out because he is the least confused person you could meet. He has known since the age of two, that he wanted to be a singer and musician, trained from the age of five and is still studying for his doctorate. He has refused previously to sign with big record labels because he wants to follow his own path. He has been surrounded by a wonderful musical family for ever and still lives with them. And he totally values his mentors. He says he couldn’t do anything to embarrass the people who have had such support and faith in him. He knows his place in the world, is generous, kind and respectful.

I disagree. Dimash sang this song after his childhood friend tragically died. As an artist, he’s extremely sensitive to the sufferings of other people, which is reflected in the songs he picks (Samaltau, Qarem Elim, Autumn strong, etc). To me, Dimash uses vocal techniques to express the emotions behind the song beyond the lyrics. Here in SOS, His vocal acrobatics, up and down, reflect anger, despair, confusion, instability, regret, different intense emotions implied in the meaningful lyrics of this song. When Dimash was young, he was made fun of for singing high notes, so I do think that he understands the feelings of the song writer about not being understood, feeling confused, and happier when he escapes in his fantasy world.

Have you heard singers from other world then. Only kidding Dimash is my favorite singer ever since I found him a couple of years ago on THE SINGER. There is another singer who is Brazilian who can do some very high notes but I do not think he has the same range. His name is Gabriel Henrigue and he has his own YT channel too. Witam serdecznie, wiem ze pisząc po polsku Pan to zrozumie. Dzięki za wspaniałą ,emocjonalną reakcję na piosenkę S.O.S. w wykonaniu Dimasha. Dimash poraził mnie i od roku tkwię w świecie jego talentu i jego głosu. Nigdy na nikogo , na żadnego piosenkarza nie zareagowałam tak jak na Dimasha. Dla Pana też nie jest to pierwsze spotkanie z Dimashem. Widziałam Pana reakcję na Olimpico. Cieszę się, że w Polsce jest nas coraz więcej zakochanych w głosie o tak przepięknej barwie z mnóstwem odcieni i uczuć . W internecie wynalazłam około 80 piosenek w wykonaniu Dimasha, więc jest przed Panem długa droga. Nie będę rekomendować piosenek. Każda jest jak małe arcydzieło. Sinful Passion ma ponad 4,5 oktawy od A1 do E6. Ja słucham także z przyjemnością Jego utworów, Regret jest spokojniejsza , ale ma piękna melodię. Nie spotkałam się z reakcją na tą piosenkę. Muzykę do niej napisał Dimash.Pozdrawiam i czekam na dalsze reakcje.

@@Rodzilla5332 Actually, I don't agree that it's the better one, it's only different with some things better, some things worse. In the older 'I am singer' version, I really like how he puts in a small vocal pause in the middle section that is very effective - you don't need to sing all the time - and he ends the song better in that one, both with the powerful high B note (that doesn't really sound very high), and the very slight crescendo and diminuendo on the very last note, that showcases his extreme skills. In the slavic bazaar version that I don't mind, he hits some of the high notes with a smoother, less yelly voice that sounds a bit more mature, but that's pretty much it, IMO. It sounds a bit too polished. Regardless, the version featured in this video doesn't make him justice at all, so I stopped watching quite in the beginning when you could hear him struggle. There is simply no trace of struggle in the other ones, they're virtually flawless both of them. The overall song arrangement is also much better in those versions, and that might also make him more secure. It always feels better to sing when you're properly backed by a great orchestra and arrangement. I believe though that him being ill here is what brings him down the most in this version. It's probably impossible to sing truly demanding songs like this one not being perfectly fit for the fight.

A lot of Dears mentioned that this is not Dimash’s best version of SOS. To me, I still loved it and I thought he sang it beautifully despite him not feeling well. Dimash seems to be able to present to his audience his beautiful vocals under any circumstance. Great reaction, I enjoyed it very much. Of course I loved listening to Dimash as well.

This vocal coach on youtube, CECI DOVER, which I just discovered today (on a different channel, who just discovered Dimash last month), who happens to use superior sound recording equipment so all of us hear Dimash's voice "perfectly" on her channel is worth your while.
Don't let this discourage you, but CECI is a TH-camr that expresses in Spanish and so I used the CC. I barely needed it with her. The expressiveness she uses helps her convey. She's smart and talented... And passionate. So I had to read what she was saying....It was worth it.
Caution!! you might live vicariously thru her transformation as a woman being fully Dimashisfied.... physically too. CECI definitely has developed the hots.... Of course, not unlike many other Dimashisfied have done, but her fluids are flowing freely like many have too. She is just a bit more intense... More Spanish, I guess? 🎊 Maybe why I like.
I normally don't do stuff like this posting of others people's links or channels. Dimash has had an affect on me too. I can't get enough of watching the "first timers", the Dimashisfied , soon to be Dears, especially the vocal coaches out there. This version in front of a French-speaking audience knowing this song perfectly was an act of courage. The French public has a reputation for being rather tough towards foreign artists trying to sing famous French songs in French (here as a matter of fact a French and Canadian song from the Rock opera "Starmania"). They are very proud and jealous of their language, but the wonderful Dimash left them completely stoned and under charm through his obvious talent and the way he managed to convey emotion.

This song is the first song I ever heard Dimash sing. It is the one with which the most people have received their introduction to him. You talked about wanting to be a bird. Dimash's singing is so incredible to people, and many of them talk about the lyrics not being that important to them, because they just tune into the feeling of the song. But I love lyrics and I love languages, and French is the language I have studied the most. And I was so struck with the lyrics of this song in French, which Dimash delivers so powerfully; and with the idea which many of us can relate to of feeling like some sort of alien in this world, wondering about the purpose of our existence, and somehow feeling that perhaps we have viewed, or will someday view this world from a different vantage point in space. To me, this song is not only magnificent because Dimash's performance of it is perfection, but because it calls to deep feelings within us of sadness, confusion and disorientation, and the sense that perhaps this world is not our true home; that we have another home where we can fly, and we miss that home.

I do appreciate your interpretation of Dimash. I hate seeing the reactions from musicians, singers, and teachers who solely focus on dissecting the techniques and focus solely on his vocal talent and totally miss the powerful emotional element he brings. His techniques are just his tools to express the highest emotion and this ability to provoke emotion is the gift that he brings his dears. It’s just so beautiful and provokes such feeling. Yes we love his talent but that is not what we are addicted to. We are addicted to the goosebumps, tears, and joy his songs bring us. He takes us to another and ethereal world with his expression through his voice. He could have a 4 octave voice and put the emotion he does behind it and we would still be compelled.

Yes, you have officially been Dimmashed! (phonetically pronounced: De-mosh Ku-dy-bergen)
It’s how we all felt the first time we heard him singing. This was the first song he performed in a 2017 vocal competition in China called The Singer, which had previously only been open to professional Chinese singers. Dimash was specially invited to compete by the producers of the show (he is from Kazakhstan) and the Chinese audience fell in love with him, and you know there are a lot of Chinese people, so this really launched his recognition and career. They had some very talented singers in the competition but I believe that everyone felt that Demos should have one, but being that the competition was in China they awarded first place to a lovely and popular female Chinese singer named Sandy Lim. (in the video you just watched, she is the one in the sort of pixie haircut watching from the booth with the other contestants from the show). She is always amazed by his performances as are the other contestants. Pity the poor singer that hast to go on after him ha ha. Dimash was awarded 2nd place.
In the subsequent three years, he has not only grown to 6‘3“ tall, but is now quite a fashion icon and is now performing huge arena productions with the most up-to-date special-effects, while also still doing intimate performances as well.
Besides his 6+ octave vocal range (and one of his performances, he hit a high note that is not even on the piano), his artistry, dedication and passion is unmatchable. He truly inhabits each performance with the proper emotion, and it’s because he really feels it. He is very family oriented, very down to earth, very humble and thankful for his success. He is a multi-instrumentalist, a composer, a producer and he also sings in 12 different languages. His native tongues are Kazakh (the colloquial language of Kazakhstan) and Russian (the independent nation of Kazakhstan was taken over by the Russians in the 1920s, but finally regained their independence in 1991 with the break up of the Soviet Union and Kazakhstan is now part of the Community of World Nations.
He has trained in classical and contemporary since the age of 5 and both of his parents are notable performers in Kazakhstan as well. He was offered a position to sing with the opera company in Kazakhstan, but instead he chose to create his own type of classical/contemporary fusion as you can tell from the performance you just watched where he incorporates techniques from both of those. Some people call his style Popera, but I think that is selling him short.
He is quickly becoming fluent in Chinese/Mandarin because of his huge audience there. He does sing some songs in English, but he still is having difficulty with ponunciations, so I tend to enjoy his non-English performances with subtitles more than his English performances. Besides, it allows me to focus more on the song and his performance without having to worry about the words. He communicates everything you need to know through his performance of the song. The first time I watch any of his performances that has English subtitles, I ignore the subtitles the first time through just to enjoy his performance and then the second time I will go back and read the subtitles to gather further information on the contact. Just my preference.
I envy you, because now you get to begin the journey that I did, and with each subsequent performance you will be amazed and delighted. But all of his performances are completely unique, so you can go back and watch them over and over again and never get tired of his amazing talent.
Now that you have done your first Dimash reaction, you’ll start getting lots of comments and subscriptions from his enormous, loyal and very friendly worldwide fan club of “Dears”, which is what Dimash calls his fans because they are so dear to him. They will help guide you through the different songs you will want to react to. The best suggestion is to do all of the songs from the 2017 competition in China first, back when he was 22, and then proceed to more current music starting in 2018 and onward. You will usually get the best quality of his videos from his own TH-cam channel, if a person making a request does not provide a link. There is one exception to one of his performances from The Singer, and that is his performance of the song Daybreak, which is about a real life tragedy that happened in China, so the Chinese people are very aware of it, and the audience is touched that he is performing it, learning their language for the first time to be able to do so. A Chinese woman named Gloria Wu has a channel and her video of Dimash performing Daybreak on The Singer is the best because it has first a behind-the-scenes look at Dimash having some throat challenges (probably enlarged vocal cords). and also provides the backstory of the tragic tribute song. Also in the video, watch for the part after receiving his treatment when he goes to the competitors viewing room to tell them of his throat troubles and then in the same scene, he is shown on a cell phone call and he is speaking with the elderly original composer of the song, Daybreak, Han Hong, which is very touching.
First time to your channel and I really enjoyed your intuitive reaction. You already understand so much about his style and quality of performance from just one viewing (and your reaction was to a much younger Dimash. He has matured so much since then, so you will be even more amazed. For your own enjoyment, you may want to look at either one of his other versions of SOS, first the one I mentioned from The Singer, and then his version from the Slavic Bazaar.

I don't know what year this is, but WOW DImash's voice matured SO MUCH from here to the famed performance of this song in 2017 at the Singer competition. In the Singer he is much more refined vocally and much much more mature, confident and emotionally connected in the delivery. But it's really cool to see him in this developmental stage before he really came into his grand self that we now all know! Maybe he was nervous, or not in his best vocal condition, or pushed to hard in preparing for this....but you can hear quite a difference in his voice here from the flawless and much more effortless performance in the Singer. Here Dimash is pushing and forcing more and the vocal quality is less pure. IN the Singer.....he was so relaxed and it just poured out of him effortlessly like water with such smooth, clear vocal tone quality and a more mature richness to his tones. But again, I love seeing that Dimash had to develop all of this and refine it.....that it was not just some total gift.....it was a diamond in the rough that over time was polished and polished into the brilliant radiant diamond we all see now :)!
