I want to add one more point. Actually while buying a new car, most of the people calculates whether it will worth to spend 1 lacs extra on a CNG vehicle or not. And this calculation always favors the petrol option as most of the Indian thinks " Car to ghar pe khadi hi rehni hai, kahi family ke saath aana jana hoga tab hi chalegi, lac rupay me to 10 saal ka petrol aa jayega"......

I want to add one more point here, as cng is bio gas and can be generated from waste material it is more green and better for environment as waste undergoes decomposition and forms organic fertiliser that is good for agriculture and green earth
Government should increase production of cng and incentivise this project
As cng plants cost around 5 crore for a setup and a single big plant can fulfill need of whole district
As 5cr is a big amount so if some support is provided via government than this can become boon for future generations

I had swift dzire for 13 years running on cng with almost above 25 km/kg & never had any issue. The biggest issue now is at one point govt is forcing to buy only petrol cars. Now petrol which come with smart hybrid feature cannot be fitted with aftermarket cng due to RC endorsement issue by RTO. Now if govt is discontinueing diesel cars and the alternative for it js cng. Then even the cars which come with mild hybrid feature should be allow for after market cng with RTO approved. Car with company fitted cng kits are less . So govt should lift off the RC endorsement issue for mild hybrid cars like ciaz & ertiga.

In South India u can find auto LPG stations almost everywhere, 25L of LPG filling just takes 2 Min where as 10 Kg of CNG takes 7 Min. No one prefers CNG bcoz the weight of cng tank is 90 kg, filling takes a lot of time, heavy queue at the pump, u loose 20-30% of the engine pickup.
Where as LPG tank (toroidal - tyre like tank) is just 10-15 kg, less waiting at the pump, fast filling, no loss of pickup.
earlier car manufacturers used to factory fit but from past 10 yrs they are just providing only cng.

So Govt shd (read must) provide CNG also along with petrol diesel and ev charging at the rest areas near all the newly build express ways. For eg Yamuna Expressway has just one CNG point between Noida and Agra. It should be not less than 5 each side. Then queues will go short and confidence will go high.

State government bus of my state adopted CNG buses for local routes as well as long routes within states, however they had to stop in between it's route to fill up its tanks multiple times and pickup is concerned it lacked to enough power to pull up the gradient including bridge. Thus they withdraw from intercity routes and later from local routes.

i guess the power problem can be easily solved, just make engines 15% bigger or use a turbo. Capacity issue can also be solved at design level but no bus manufacturer put money into RnD.

Sad to say but you dont have idea of electric car pricing in India.
If you have the 10 lakhs Rupees budget then why spend it on a petrol or gas vehicle. Try looking at Tiago EV variants for a change. This model starts at 8.69 Lakhs for the medium range model and goes upto 12.5 lakhs for the top spec version. At this price, base model of Tigor EV Ziptron also starts at 12.49 Lakhs ex showroom. If you need a smaller vehicle thats also more affordable than Tiago EV, then go for the base model of MG Comet, while its important to point out that MG Comet is based on a body style that not many people will like.
Also electricity is cheaper to buy and unlike CNG, you dont have to run to a gas pump to buy gas, as electric cars can be charged from any 16 Ampere mains socket. In kolkata, electricity prices are at 7 rupees aggregate. One kilo of CNG is priced at least 10 times compared to 1 kWh electricity, and the distance covered per kWh is not dependent on anything else unlike the pressure of gas in the pump for a gas car (you get more gas, hence more km driving if you have a good pressure at the pump). Try buying one kilo CNG and get the tank to tank range, compare it to the distance travelled per kWh in an electric car....you will know how energy efficient it is. India must develop sodium ion battery cells which will contribute to price reduction in future, and India must plan for it.

I am not sure wether you read the comments, but there are certain points you missed when it comes to disadvantage of CNG vehicle for personal use over its petrol cousin. First point being low engine power, especially when you have to overtake or climb a hill it just refuses and you need to switch to petrol mode. Thus most who buy vehicle for driving don't but CNG vehicle .Second point, the life span of engine on CNG cars . Due to which a 5 year old CNG private vehicle will not have a good resale value compared to its petrol version. So these are also the reasons people refrain buying CNG vehicles. Also, in some states the rate of CNG is same as compared to petrol.

You conveniently forgot to address 2 important negatives of CNG. Vehicles need to maintain certain level of Petrol in the car too. So eats up space of two tanks, they also need to go to the petrol stations once in a while to keep petrol tank filled. Also, it is advisable that everyday car should run few kilometers on petrol and starter needs to be used on petrol only. Secondly, CNG vehicles will have much more maintenance few years down the line. People wont agree to this but the majority CNG car owners (cost effective mindset) are running their vehicles without proper maintenance. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT IS... CNG lacks power. Running car on CNG itself delivers 20% to 30% less power on top of it, run AC and the power is further reduced by 15 to 20 % so eventually you land up stressing the driver and the engine. Most of the CNG users are too much cost conscious, either CAB owners or small capacity cheaper cars and autos prefer the CNG. And these are the vehicles increase queues on the gas stations. If a balanced comparative study is done between CNG & a Petrol vehicle, probably CNG cars will have more negative impact on the environment due to the constantly stressed engine. Secondly, have you ever walked through congested road where lot of CNG vehicles are stuck... you feel much more suffocated as CNG never burns completely. a different type of smell troubles the breathing so asthmatic health issues may arise due to CNG in future. But unfortunately, no one cares to put research in that direction. CNG should be the big NO. It should be rather used as a fuel (instead of coal) to generate electricity and then that electricity should be provided to charge EVs. Today 70% electricity in India is generated by burning the COAL. CNGs are worst for the environment, little easy for the pocket but thats just for a while, earlier CNG was priced at Rs.30 per KG now it has also reached Rs. 80 per KG. India needs to come out of the mentality of cheaper the better....
