- Hey guys, sharing the story of how I was turned back at back at the airport and couldn't travel to Canada. Hope you learn from my experience and if you've found yourself in a similar situation, please share in the comment section :) It will be great to read other people's experiences.

Its on Lufthansa site to check entry requirement to any country you are travelling from/to. You need schengen visa to transit through 2 or more schengen states. Most times people make this mistake because of the cheaper tickets, it also happens to people who see transit flights through US without US visa, the ticket is usually cheaper and they book it without checking requirements. Always safer to call the airline before issuing ticket to be on the safe side

That's is so sad, it happened to us too. We transiting through France to the UK, hubby needed a transit visa for France and we were not aware of this. Sorry ooh
You need to check the countries' offical website dedicated to immirgration and visas. It's pretty clear on the EU website and Germany's government website, that if you are passport holder from Nigeria you will need an airport transit visa. However there are some exceptions if you hold a residency permit or a long stay visa issued out by the EU, USA, Canada, you may not need a transit visa.
Always check before you travel.
Right into it. You go throu customs, passport,,...all the the checks...only to get to the boarding part then hear you cant board😢😢😢😢

I usually fly Qatar through Doha or Emirates through Dubai it's seamless

My cousin traveled with Lufthansa to Canada last year September and she didn't have transit visa
Her flight involved transit points. May be Frankfurt and another city before Canada. Tickets that involve two transit points tend to be cheaper
You will still be denied boarding even if you choose to fly with AirFrance / Lufthansa again. Any Nigerian nationals need a transit visa for the Schengen area, even though they only transit thru one Schengen airport. On the other hand, Chinese nationals do not need a transit visa for the Schengen area as long as they only transit one Schengen airport but they still need a visa if they need to change airports within the Schengen area. It's your responsibility to check visa requirements for every country you transit in. Do your research before you book and do not depend on the airline because it is not going to do that for you. My advice if you travel between Nigeria and Canada: transit through Istanbul, Cairo, Jeddah or Addis Ababa where you do not need a Schengen visa.

Hello, please i have a flight connect from Nigeria to Germany to UK, then to Canada, on thesame airline and thesame terminal.

Its all airlines, once its more than 1 connection, then you will need transit visa.
Its so sad that i know an individual that was in the same situation 😢. Thats how common it is

I think you do because the rule says “you need a Schengen transit visa If you have a connection between two airports in the Schengen Area…”
I advise you double check with their customer reps.

Many people in Africa don’t listen. I have warned people about transit visa and three from my Makoko neighborhood didn’t listen. They were turned back at Charles De Gaulle airport.
We have to abide by the airline rules and laws, not our own rules. Don't blame the airline. Take responsibility. This is a lesson to be learned.

This just happened to my husband. We're still devastated sef. He got to Heathrow yesterday afternoon from Abuja, to board the next flight to Canada last night. But anyways it's a long story. The point is that he's back in Abuja this morning. God will surely make another way.

I don’t get your point . It is common knowledge that if you’re going outside the airport transit area in any of those airports in the Schengen area you’ll need a Schengen visa. Even if they allowed you to travel that day you’d have faced issues in Frankfurt. It is also common knowledge that you need to clear US customs and border protection if transiting through any US airport.
You didn’t do your homework and Lufthansa isn’t at fault here

What ever said I think you should have been checking the website for any changes or visa requirements. There's always google to help you out. It's our fault and you cannot blame the airlines. As travelers we should be vigilant of the rules and changes. When you get cheap airlines, you need to be extra careful.
If you understand what the situation is, why are you arguing knowing that you are in the wrong!
Ignorant is not a bliss.
You don't have to fly with that airline. You have a choice. Stop the blame game.! You are ignorant. Do your homework.
