    It is very generous of you to provide the entire performance. I am quite grateful. Thank you. I am also appreciative of Ustad Davinder Partap Singh Ji being addressed as "Ustad". I feel it is a well earned title and I believe Ustadji deserves it :) Wonderful rendition of Malhaar by Ustad Davinder Ji! I don't hear Raag Malhaar often, but I am often hear of Raag Miyan Ki Malhaar. I don't quite no the relation (if there is any at all).

    kya baat hai giani-ji a true ustad,inspration and example this how shabad is supposed 2 be sang in a shud classical way,not ghazalfy nor filmi based which 2day raagi sings and is an insult of music of this calibre.To those sikhs wannabe raagis take lesson and be inspired from people like Ustad Bhai Davinder Partap Singh Ji ,and to ustad tari khan as usual briiliant

    Wonder why this video is edited at various places? Should the entire unedited version not be loaded?

    @cjarcus These are Sikh holy verses sung in a Gurdwara in traditional Indian tunes or 'Ragas' as they are called.

    Hello thankyou for this clip very ausom indeed. Pardon my curiosity and with the utmost respect, does anyone know why Ustad Tari Kahn is wearing a plain cloth over the top of his head ?

    • @ParminderSingh-dr3ru
      @ParminderSingh-dr3ru 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because they are reciting Sikhism holy scripture hyms and Sikh tradition to cover head and he is giving respect. moreover they might be in gurudwara(Sikh temple)

    Raaga Malhaar is the same as Raaga Miyan Ki Malhaar. Sometimes it is called Miyan Ki Malhaar because it is created by Miyan Tansen. But some people just call it Malhaar.

    • @Blissful_seeker
      @Blissful_seeker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wrong. No it’s definitely not the same. Hopefully you’re educated enough now to know the holes in your statement.

  • @1nd1anb0y86
    @1nd1anb0y86 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    They are not at a Sikh Temple, they are at Mohan Singh Ji's house the man who is wearing black pagh. However the reason they are covering their head is because Bhai Davinder Partap Singh Ji is singing a Shabad and therefore you must cover your head as to show respect.

    Malhar and Miyan ki Malhar are the same thing. "Miyan ki" refers to Miyan Tansen. It is believed that he is the one who originally composed Raga Malhar.

      @@Blissful_seeker haha. I have a degree in ethnomusicology. Don't tell me about "incomplete knowledge". It was Tansen who invented Miyan Malhar

      @@kabiraltaf lol good to know you have a degree in Ethnomusicology, I have 2 in Indian Classical Music. Who said anything about Tansen not making his version of Malhar called Miyan ki Malhar. Lol Read your initial comment again. So you’re telling me before Tansen came into existence, the world didn’t know what Malhar is ?😂Since you said that he created Malhar. But saying that Malhar and Miyan ki Malhar is same, is like saying that Todi and Desi Todi are the same thing 😂or a better example in this case, ‘Darbari Kannada and Kannada are the same thing”. Based off your choice of words, it shows that you’re knowledge of ICM is very rudimentary. Please educate yourself before you go on to make bold claims like ‘Tansen created Malhar’😂 what’s next ? ‘Adana composed the raag bahar’ because it’s called Raag Adana Ki Bahar

      @@Blissful_seeker ah yes one of those hindus that wants to denigrate the contributions of Muslims to Hindustani classical music. You are nothing compared to Miyan Tansen. I'm done with you.
