Air Force ROTC; A Day in the Life of a Cadet

  • This is a nonfiction documentary depicting a day in the life of Air Force ROTC cadets at Syracuse University. Our group observed the various events that comprise the schedule of an ROTC cadet. We primarily follow Max Arnold, Connor Dorfman and Scott Wortman to obtain a better understanding of what cadets on campus endure. Detachment 535 prepares young men and women to become strong individuals who are proud of their country through training that betters them physically, mentally and emotionally.

    Jesus people someone has to be in the Air Force. Stop disrespecting people who choose to serve their country in a way that suits them. If you want to become a marine, congratulations. I have the upmost respect for the marines. However, the marines are no more important to the defense of the nation than airmen. All military personnel deserve equal respect for their service, period.

      Ever looked into Air Force TACP, CCT, SOWT, or PJ's? Air Force has their fair share of battlefield Airman as well. Just like the Army has their fair share of technical smarty pants who perform the stereotypical "nerdy" jobs as well. We all protect and defend the same red, white and blue brother. I have a few questions in regards to AFROTC as prior service enlisted Air Force.
    1. In AFROTC, do you buy your own uniforms or are they rented for the semester? Issued?
    2. IF you are prior service, can you just wear the ones you already have but obviously without rank on them?
    3. Which uniforms are being worn in the detachments? ABU's or OCP's?

      1) Its free only time you need to pay is if you lose your items.
      2)If you are prior service you are allowed to wear the old ones as long as it all followed the AFI and wing standardization.
      3)OCP's

      < Current AFROTC Cadet and I wake up at 0430 every morning to make it to PT by 0545. You would really have to live a month in our shoes to know how difficult it is to wake up at 0430 and not be done with your day until 2100 while trying to balance a 16+ hour credit load everyday for 4 or more years of college. It may seem easy from the outside but there's so much that we sacrifice everyday because we want to serve. Are all of us perfect in every way? Absolutely not, but the AFROTC program is intended to better us one step at a time. And believe me when I say you would not want to endure the 2 months of field training preparation, it's 2 months of no sleep, constant studying of your schoolwork and Air Force material that they expect you to know off the top of your head at every moment of the day oh and a little mix of being yelled at for everything you do plus extra PT time everyday!

      ROTC is a path civilians take to become officers in the military, while Joke ROTC just teaches kids how to be good civilians.

  • @GTBANNA
    @GTBANNA 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Of course Army pt is more difficult that Air force pt, their is no need for airman to be as physically fit as a ground pounder.

    • @GTBANNA
      @GTBANNA 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rich 91 I mean ROTC pt is often considered more challenging that the pt newly commissioned Lt do.

    Hi
    I am pursuing a bachelor’s degree at a public university in NYC and will graduate in two years.
    I am planning to join thr airforce reserve as a fighter pilot. Can I pursue AFROTC alongside my bachelor’s degree? How long should it take?
    Thank you!

    • @ramennoodles4132
      @ramennoodles4132 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have already completed your second year, it might be difficult for you to join at this stage as most AFROTC programs are 3-4 years. I would contact the detachment at your school to see if you can join

    • @ekibirigeable
      @ekibirigeable 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it's designed for people already in college and you can major in anything you want. ROTC is just one extra class that you take every semester along with a leadership lab that teaches you practical military skills

    • @the_viper1644
      @the_viper1644 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say only do ROTC if you want to go active duty. If you want to air guard you can enlist and then get some of your collage payed for with the GI bill. I don’t know if reserves does that though. Either way I’d pick guard over reserves because it is both state and federally funded. Don’t expect to go into reserves from AFROTC though, most likely you will be an active duty officer.

    • @TheDevTechsYoutube
      @TheDevTechsYoutube 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're just wearing their Blues, or dress uniform. All cadets receive these uniforms, usually worn on formal occasions however. I was wondering why those cadets were wearing them instead of their ABUs

    • @manerviamcdonald4497
      @manerviamcdonald4497 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kai Perez Some colleges only issue ABUs to the 200 year cadets (sophomores) because of financial constraints (they don't return the boots and they can be expensive) so the only cadets that receive them are 200s that are able to compete for field training and higher ranking cadets. So the ones in Blues are probably 100s (freshmen).

    • @ryanwilliams4023
      @ryanwilliams4023 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Polo (freshman) Blues (sophomore ) ABUs (junior and up) basically after FT you get ABUs
