    Growing up in lagos when you see a goat or cow tie in a neighbours compound you know something is going down just not sure when,but when you start to see the big,big pots you know it's tonight.....l have a feeling we are washing away the healthier part of bitterleaf somehow,the bitter content of the leaf is probably what makes the leaf.Just me thinking out loud here.Seeing cocoyam makes me happy,l was beginning to think it's getting extinct for lack of coverage,nobody talks about cocoyam anymore. Why?Cocoyam is one of the healthiest superfood out there,much healthier than potatoe,l love it roasted as a kid.What are you celebrating,or just happy to be alive?😂Sending you love and light flo,stay safe as you enjoy the motherland..Thank you.

    • @FloChinyere

      Chai your narration of how to tell the stage at which the ceremony is at is giving me life. 😂🤣😂🤣
      I love cocoyam especially the one i like to refer to as tiger cocoyam.
      For bitterleaf, the meal won't be edible abeg. In this case the nutrient has to go. If one really needs it then a smoothie is the way to go but in a meal? No, the bitterness needs to go.
      This is still part of the cooking for the funeral.

    I miss that raw bitterleaf so much. When I was back home in Nigeria, I would wash it just once and drink the juice. Did that a few times every month and for years I never had stomach problems. I love bitterleaf and I love bitterleaf soup, it's been my favorite since I was a kid

    • @biddyn2673
      @biddyn2673 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right. I do that even with the dry bitter leaves sent to me from Nigeria. After the first wash off of sand and dirt, I boil and drink the water. And afterwards I make soup with the leaves.

      She added the head last because it scatters easily. That hard cod needs to go into the pot two days earlier ooo 😂 Always surprises me how the head of fish that is so hard can be that soft.
