I don't know how you, those that are following Kim Chi and wish the best possible outcome for her, feel about mother-in-laws and the absolute hold they have on their sons, but to me, who is not used to the total control, I find it difficult to understand the insane control these mothers have on their sons.
I too, have a grown son, but I would never dream of conditioning him on who to marry, or anything else for that matter.
My Mom respected me enough to gave me the freedom to choose.
I respect my children, especially my son, the faculty of his own God-given Wisdom to choose who HE thinks will be best suited for him, without having me interfere in his life, because I Love him and respect him enough to trust his choices.
I may advice him, but never interfere, not even when HIS choices are different from mine.
As his mother, it is my duty, to give him wise advice, but never impose my will on him.
We, as humans, learn from our mistakes, more so, than if we allow others to make the mistakes for us.
That is how we grow from children to responsible adults...by making mistakes.
So this archaic mentality by mother of sons to totally control their sons lives is really hard to digest for me.
I wish Kim Chi lots of luck with this young man. I pray he is mature enough to stand up to his mother.
