    Wow, if that’s the only issues you’ve had on 3 RR sports then that’s not bad going at all. I’ve never had one, but I’ve had 2 L322s. 2007 3.6TDV8 and now 2011, 4.4 TDV8 and they’ve both been temperamental, but thankfully nothing crazy. For a 10/11 year old car that I’ve dreamt of owning since I was young, I’m more than happy to plunge the odd bit of cash into them here and there. Never an issue. As long as I don’t end up with £5k bills all the time, I’m happy.

      they really are not as bad as some people make them seem to be. you just have to make sure to check the vehicle your buying, look into the history, listen to the engine, feel the gearbox, make sure the vehicle was maintained on time and i truly believe that it will be as reliable as any other luxury vehicle that has depreciated in value over time.

      I have a 2006 RR Sport 4.2L Superchaged., now with 120k miles on the clock, and have never had a single issue / breakdown. It has needed a new Aircon compressor, but that’s only to be expected due to wear and tear. I use the compressor to raise / lower the suspension once a week, whether needed or not. I also engage low ratio in the automatic gearbox once a week, needed or not. It is serviced at a LR specialist garage, not a main dealer, who take care and pride in explaining their work to me. These things are built like tanks, and I honestly believe most issues are avoided by being sympathetic to the hardware, I.E. using it regularly, plus quality, timely maintenance.

    If you buy a range rover sport l 320 pay a bit more for a lower mileage one with good service history.

    I had a beutiful 2.7 RR sport 2007, going down the road there was a bang and the engine completly died! The Oil pump housing had split which is held in with bolts that also holds the timing gear, which allowed the timing chain to jump, ruining the top end. So car scrapped and I've bought a superb V8 3.6! Love them and a gluten for punishment!!! lol

    • @hughmarcus1
      @hughmarcus1 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 2.7 has a timing belt not a chain. There was a known issue with the 2007/08 engines & oil pump failure.

    Are they reliable for high mileage with up and down motorway and for someone who does 30,000 miles a year. What is best engine and common faults

    • @thecartell
      @thecartell  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes they are, i know people who do those type of mileages per year without an issue, its all about maintenance, on time that is with the correct parts and fluids. also the best advice i can give you, is be very careful when buying one, make sure its been taken care of and most importantly, either you have to mechanically minded or have a mechanic you can trust with maintenance and upkeep.

    Owned my 2008 tdv8 for 8 years now and it’s had its ups and downs , replaced EGR valves front lower wishbones twice ARB bushes twice alternator radiator,condenser flushed gearbox all the usual bits but it’s still the best Land Rover I’ve owned. Can’t bring myself to part with it tbh and I imagine I’ll be keeping it for as long as I can get the parts 👍 only advise I’d give is treat them well ( regular service oils ) don’t thrash them from cold !

      @@thecartell I'm pretty happy actually 😅
      All these rumors spreading around enabled me to get a great deal on a 2012 Range Rover Sport 5.0 Supercharged during Covid and it has been problem free so far.
      I'd recommend to just do what my car's previous owner has done - keep servicing it at the franchise, fix every niggle the moment it pops up and don't miss your service intervals and you should be good to go.
      My friends drive new Golfs that were more expensive than this Range Rover and their constant excuse was that this car would cost me £10 000 a year to maintain...and, well, in the past two years, I haven't even spent a tenth of that.

    This is interesting to watch, like you say the horror stories about these are actually terrifying! Due to some bad health problems I’m in the market for a big auto car with a 6k budget and these are up top of my list. Looking at 3.6 models with anywhere from 80k-120k but focusing on history and extended warranty as much as the mileage. Always loved the range rovers but it’s those that haven’t owned one that do all the fear mongering. Any advice on looking? Fancy doing a video on actually buying one to help a viewer out? 😂

    I have also a range Rover sport 3.6 tdv8 and i have the same problem sistem engine fault when i accelerate it above 100 km/h it cuts the power I have a egr pipe leak but I’m not sure if that’s the problem and if it is that problem does the chassis of the car have to get off to repair ?

    • @thecartell
      @thecartell  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hi mate, if there is a leak in the egr, this will most certainly cause the power cut off problem. you can replace the egr where the chassis of the car does not come off, its on top of the engine basically BUT you can also go for EGR blanking. which will be a cheaper alternative, do you have the Engine Management light on?

  • @Rickwardful
    @Rickwardful ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What sort of fuel economy do you get from the V8? My V6 is upper 20’s.
    I have also recently had my V6 go into limp home mode if accelerating hard up hill, twice. One of my Mass Air-flow sensors is dirty and I think I shall replace it before I do anything else. But before even doing this, I might swap them over (they are the same part number) and see what happens.
    Apart from the odd gremlin, I absolutely love the car. But you need an iCarsoft tool to tell you what is wrong when faults occur.

    • @thecartell
      @thecartell  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      on the dash it always read average 24 mpg, 23 mpg and once in awhile 25. thats not to say i havent seen 18 or 19 lol i certainly have but thats constant short journeys and once in a while putting your foot down lol
      yes iv also switched the mass air flow sensors and my readings were still the same (same bank) so i knew there wasn't any issues with them which is why i never bothered replacing them.
      but i have heard from a few people that the mass air flow sensors will give you the exact same problem up hill or under hard acceleration.
      of course you will need a good scan tool otherwise you'll end up spending a fortune at the garage each time lol plus those things pay for themselves eventually
