The world needs more of these usb powered portable monitors with HDMI. Since a couple of years ago, there were a lot of portable monitors that used only USB for power and video display, and I really couldn't find myself wanting to buy one. These newer ones make a ton more sense. Hope that the plastic in there is all matte and I can see that the panel itself is matte, so all good for me there.

Hey there! Thanks for the detailed review of the Lepow 15.6" portable monitor. It sounds like a versatile device, especially with the USB Type-C and HDMI capabilities. I'm considering getting one myself, but I have a few questions: 1. How's the overall build quality of the monitor? Does it feel sturdy and durable? 2. Can you comment on the color accuracy and viewing angles of the IPS display? 3. Have you experienced any latency issues when using it for gaming or other tasks? 4. Does it come with a protective case or cover for when you're on the go? I appreciate your insights, and they will help me make an informed decision. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this product!
Hi ETA P - would switching to and from Landscape and Portrait mode via HDMI/HDMImini with a laptop require additional drivers/software? Thanks for the informative walkthrough - really helpful.
What is the build quality like? Other portables get poor reviews after a few months of use. Curious to know if you’ll be doing a follow up review later.
Well I can tell you from my experience the build quality isn't that great on some of the other brands. I am currently returning my second one to Amazon because it stopped working after a week or two.
@@KippyKipKip except that one would be a displaylink monitor. It requires specific drivers and software to work. This monitor uses hdmi/mhl input over usb-c or micro hdmi. A completely different and more worthwhile capability. My previous portable monitor was a gechic one, it worked well and had more input options than this but it cost about twice the cost of this one. I've just pulled the trigger on one of these as that usb-C mhl single cable support is awesome for my use case. I'm planning on using it for work too and I'm a consultant so I'm constantly on the road, so it'll have a tough life, I will report back here with an update once I've used it a while if it'll help folk.
It's insane that you can run a 15 inch laptop screen with 1080p quality (better then my current laptop screen) at any location with only a small slim USB C cable. Imagine being stuck in an airport or coach station for several hours or possibly over night. Using a phone screen is okay but watching a movie or TV Show or playing a game say on your PS4 plugged into the airport plug socket + 15 inch screen would be such an awesome way to pass the time. I really want to get this one but I don't think they sell to the UK. Are there any UK sellers you'd recommend for around £100-150. All the ones with USB C and slim design are £200 or £200+
This seems like very useful second monitor for college! No need to bring a clunky normal monitor, just this and hook it up to my laptop. Gonna check it out
ETA, didn't you do a video 2 or 3 years ago, where you powered a Pi 3 with a solar power battery? It would be cool if you did another video like that, maybe with the Pi 4 this time, hooked up to a monitor like this, if it were possible. I thought that video was pretty neat.
Yan Lovsi nothing was wrong with it, it’s just a lot better to play with a portable monitor I can take in my backpack. The dock can even power up the monitor so you just need one outlet which is super convenient
Be neat to see you run a sbc with this monitor. Use some good double sided tape on the case to stick it behind the screen and you have a nice portable device with a larger screen.
I've been powering the monitor via the right side USB-C port using a USB battery bank or power supply. Power passes on through the USB-C port on the left side. This has worked for my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Nintendo Switch without having a secondary power supply. But if I use my Samsung phone in Dex mode I do need a secondary power supply for the Dex-compatible USB-C hub.
@@poopsnorkeler huh nice! I actually just dropped something on my laptop and broke the screen... So I was going to buy a 15.6" screen and lvds driver and make a custom hinge that would either fold tablet mode screen out or in tall mode like in this video. If you use the usb c port on the other side will it feed the display or is that only for power? I want to get 2 of these so I want the cables to be on opposite sides of the laptop. Thanks.
Will this monitor wake up on receiving a signal, or do you have to manually power it on? I'm thinking of making a bar top arcade machine with a raspberry pi and using this as a monitor.
Potential deal breaker for me: does it have black level control? I'm watching this on my phone with a bad signal so I can't read the menus. The Eyoyo brand portable monitor doesn't have that and it's awful when you look at anything dark. Resident Evil is almost unplayable. The Uperfect monitor does have black level control but it's a 10w monitor.

I guess what I'm getting at is thanks for the video, both from past-me when it was newer and present me.
Does it have its own internal battery? Or is it always taking battery life from the device connected to it? Also if it does have battery, how long does it run for, 3 hours?
Can you hook up a powered USB c hub between the phone and the Samsung and still use the type c? (a C from the hub as video or will video not go through that way)
Can it send power to the phone or a computer through the USB-C port? would be great to only have one cable to the monitor than one charger to the monitor.

I have a 17" Gaems portable monitor, uses micro usb but has no speakers. This seems much more useful than that one. What would happen if you hooked a Nintendo Switch usb-c to usb-c? Would it work as an external monitor or would you need the dock?
Will the USB-C connection work with the ASRock A300 case? I know it has a HDMI port but I am curious if the computer can output display through the front USB-C jack to the USB-C of the monitor.
