Reading Hyped Horror Books 🧛🏻‍♂️☠️ [Reading Vlog]

  • I recently read three hyped horror novels and this is what happened. I'm still fairly new to the horror genre, I freaking love it but I just haven't read a whole lot of it. I've read mostly Stephen King for horror so far, and there's a few other horror books I've liked here and there, but I want to get more into horror. If you have any recommendations for me, please let me know! Also if you like this type of reading vlog where I read three books in the same genre back to back and vlog it, let me know if there's any other genre you'd like to see me do this for :)
    Books read:
-The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires
    -The Troop
    -N0S4A2

N0S4A2 has to be pronounced Nosferatu (like the vampire) :)

The UK edition is spelt ‘NOS4R2’. Strange. They must think the British accent would affect how NOS4A2 is pronounced.

gabbyreads yeah when he first started writing he wanted to establish himself as his own person so he changed his name so he wouldn’t get recognition for being Stephen Kings son. He actually didn’t come out as kings son for like 10 years or something.

The best part of him changing his name is that he looks like a clone of his dad. 😂😂

Joe Hill is Stephen King’s son :) He’s one of my favorite authors! If you like graphic novels you should check out his series Locke and Key. It’s fantastic and was also adapted into a Netflix series!

Gabby, Finally, someone else who has read The Troop!! I read The Troop a few months ago! I agree with everything you said about it. There were many times that I was gagging while reading. I kept starting to put the book down and quit reading it, but I couldn't. I had to keep reading it. The animal scenes really bothered me too. It did give me nightmares for several nights during and after reading it. It is one book that I will not ever be able to forget. One night a few days after I had finished reading the book, I fixed some soup to eat. I was sitting there eating the soup when all of a sudden that book came to mind and I quit eating and started gagging. I was eating chicken noodle soup so you can imagine what I was thinking. I had to toss the soup out. I still haven't been able to eat chicken noodle soup and it has been months.

I'm so glad that you enjoyed the Southern Book Club guide too! I listened to the audiobook, and it was fantastic! The narration was perfect, and I agree that this book really portrays the way women were viewed in the '90s. I really enjoyed that the author allowed each of the women to come into their own and really band together. The troop was something else. I listened to the audiobook for this to and it was very gory, horrific, and I loved every second of it. I really enjoyed hearing your live reaction to what you read in the book. Personally, the most terrifying part for me was Shelly who was psychopathic, and he creeped me out more than the worms. Even though the book was told from the boys' perspective it was so graphic and suspenseful in all the best ways.

Great reading vlog. It's awesome seeing your horror reading journey. Great picks for your first horror center vlog. I really enjoyed The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires. It's made me feel all the emotions. Love Grady's writing. Check out My Best Friend's Exorcist if you like his writing. Really loved that one also by him.
The Troop was so disturbing and I loved it. It made me feel so uncomfortable. His book The Deep is also really creepy. It's more of aquatic horror. Really enjoyed his writting.
Yeah one thing about Joe Hill writing is a hit or a miss. I enjoyed N0S4A2 but it's not for everyone. The name of the book is a play on the classic vampire Nosferatu of the silent film. Maybe you will enjoy Heart-Shape box by him. Really enjoyed that one more and was super creepy. A lot of people say his best work is Locke & Key his graphic novel series. I really enjoyed it. Very unique.

I thought it was so good, and I’m glad I did first because Manx was so creepy in the show and I’m excited to picture those characters and the town while I’m reading the book. It’s worth checking out if you’re in the mood for a new creepy show, I think it was on AMC, but who knows what platforms it’s on now, shows tend to move around.

You should read twelve night at rotter house! It’s the most self-aware horror book ever and it’s one of my absolute faves

I’ve only read the Locke & Key series by Joe Hill and thoroughly enjoyed it until he suffered his dad’s curse of rarely being able to conclude a story well. This surprisingly hasn’t put me off from rereading it as it is a good journey. Neither will it stop me from reading more Joe Hill or Stephen King’s novels.

I'm pretty sure with nos4a2 the sentences that stop midsentence are finished with the next chapter title. At least that's how I read it. Overall I wasn't a fan of this one idk why it's so hyped. Well actually I take that back it's because it's Stephen King's son.

I loved The southern book club guide to slaying vampires! I didn’t like The Troop and I’ve not read the Joe Hill book but it’s been recommended multiple times by different booktubers. I may have to break down and read it. I read Heart Shaped Box from him and was very disappointed

The Southern's Book Club's guide to Slaying Vampires was good but the child predator stuff was very jarring for me and I'm so surprised no one talks about it in their reviews.

NOS4A2 isn’t that great, my favorite Joe Hill book is Heart Shaped Box. It’s a great ghost story. I have been wanting to buy and read the other two so bad, I’ve heard great things about both of them.

Nosferatu is a classic early horror film. I haven't read N0S4A2, but I'm interested to read it and see if it has alludes to themes or other elements of the film.

You probably figured this out by now but NOS4A2 - Nosferatu is a famous vampire classic based on Bram Stoker's Dracula

Its pronounced like the classic vampire Nosferatu. The only reason I know how to pronounce that is from the Hash Slinging Slasher episode of Spongebob where Nosferatu was flickering the lights on and off hahahah i hate myself
