With a population of about 20 million, Dhaka, the capital city of #Bangladesh, has been grappling with an environmental crisis. But a groundbreaking project between Bangladesh and #China offers hope - a modern sewage treatment plant that promises cleaner water and an improved life for the community. This is the kind of low key, low profile project that China does best. No boasting, no publicity, tangible results, real help to people's lives.
Certainly lower profile than "Build better back or build back ... Well? What was it called again? Or is this now called something else?

This is NOT free, genius. It is a business deal and probably will cost more in the long term (given the reputation of "quality" associated). Sri Lanka ports were considered "amazing" achievements, just got Sri Lanka into a big financial mess later on.
@@hasinarian6711 I did not fault Bangladesh here. I was just countering Chinese propaganda here about this being some Chinese largesse. This is a business dealing, nothing more. Of course, Bangladesh is very shrewd in dealing with the Chinese, be it the Padma River Bridge or this, Bangladesh only uses Chinese companies as building contractors and does NOT get involved with Chinese loans which are a lot more exploitative in nature.
@@hasinarian6711 Products some China might cost low in the beginning and might "look" flashy as well, but cost more in maintenance in the long run. This has been generally the experience for most people. Even Sri Lanka had horrible long-term maintenance issues with one of the power plants that China built there in Sri Lanka.

god if only philippines have this kind of water treatment facility, maybe the rivers in manila will be finally be cleaned. But they don't have discipline and sense of responsibility. they kep throwing trash on waterways and drainage systems, which results in huge floods.

We lost huge land of ours for this mega project. Not only that this project graved our existing road that is really annoying for locals. This project produces bad smell in which is not tollerable at all. This unbearable smell must be stopped for the sake of the local community.
