This story really hits home for me. I think that as a women you are pressured to get the ring so much, that you don’t think about what happens afterward. If you notice in the video, she said she had to grow as an individual too. It was not just him that had grow in this situation. So, for them not to get married, they are now able to grow as individuals and work towards their future together. I have been dating my boyfriend for 12 years now. He is my best friend and the love of my life. Don’t get me wrong, I do want to be engaged down the road, but I rather be financially set first then rushing into it, just to get the ring.

I was fortunate to have been married to the love of my life for 12 years ( 2nd marriage for both ) but I knew we had loads in common. We loved travelling, cooking , swimming, snorkeling & so many other things together. Made love nearly every morning until he died January 2022 age 74. I am now almost 59 & missing him so very much
She is smart because she could of been emotional but looked for advice or even being brave and coming to a show and hear the right words. Steve is excellent at these advises. What I would have liked to hear from the guy is the steps that he will take to get himself ready and how much time he needs. malyikaj i think it’s about the standards of a man. He has to have values. There are men that don’t really know and just want to keep you and that makes for a hard journey. However, a man who is intentionally going after becoming, education of some sort and is in love with you by his intentions is worth a try. My hubby didn’t have all of his ducks in a row. However, he was in love with me, he went to College to take care of me and my future babies, and he knew what he wanted to do. Why did he propose if he wasn't ready to get married the next day? An engagement ring is not like a physical "dibs" to show other guys that the girl is taken. The ring is symbol of a promise that I'm ready to go the long haul with that person and that you want to start as soon as possible. If he wasn't ready he shouldn't have proposed and hopefully she didn't pressure him because then the embarrassment of a broken engagement is on her shoulders.

If you got cold feet, stay out of the relationship, assess yourself (goals and dreams), assess the partner objectively (write down pros and cons) and assess the relationship (want children or not, how many, discipline styles, religious beliefs, are they as tidy/messy as you, role expectations, work/life balance, time management, and independence requirements). You can only do this objectively while not being physical with each other (or someone else). If you need someone else do the other person a favour and stay away. He's 27, when will he be ready. I'd suggest leave, if he wants you, he'll remain single and chase you.

Honestly, I don't know their situation, but me and my husband when we met we knew we wanted to be together and get married, but a huge part of that was me telling him and actually holding to my standards of celibacy before marriage. I did not plan on sleeping with him until we got married, and that definitely I believe was a HUGE factor in why it happened under 2 years of dating. A man doesn't have to have it all together, but it's up to a woman to keep herself for marriage, even if she already has lost her virginity, she can still reinvent herself. In this situation, I think Steve's advice would have been better if he told her not to sleep with him until then in case she was.

Why did he propose if he wasn't ready to get married the next day? An engagement ring is not like a physical "dibs" to show other guys that the girl is taken. The ring is symbol of a promise that I'm ready to go the long haul with that person and that you want to start as soon as possible. If he wasn't ready he shouldn't have proposed and hopefully she didn't pressure him because then the embarrassment of a broken engagement is on her shoulders.

It's a common misconception of men. I think men don't understand that we want to help them reach their full potential and grow together. Society still puts pressure on men to be the provider even when we want to provide with him.

If you got cold feet, stay out of the relationship, assess yourself (goals and dreams), assess the partner objectively (write down pros and cons) and assess the relationship (want children or not, how many, discipline styles, religious beliefs, are they as tidy/messy as you, role expectations, work/life balance, time management, and independence requirements). You can only do this objectively while not being physical with each other (or someone else). If you need someone else do the other person a favour and stay away. He's 27, when will he be ready. I'd suggest leave, if he wants you, he'll remain single and chase you.

It's nice that someone recognizes this. On another video, there was a woman who was going through the same thing, and the man gave the same financial excuse. Steve told her to leave because they were not on the same page. Here, we have a woman that's strong enough to leave, but Steve gave her the exact opposite advice and actually made up the same excuse himself for the boyfriend. And this can cause strain on thier relationship and eventually cause them to have resentment for one another because one person is not doing what thier suppose to now I can't get what I need.

Honestly, I don't know their situation, but me and my husband when we met we knew we wanted to be together and get married, but a huge part of that was me telling him and actually holding to my standards of celibacy before marriage. I did not plan on sleeping with him until we got married, and that definitely I believe was a HUGE factor in why it happened under 2 years of dating. A man doesn't have to have it all together, but it's up to a woman to keep herself for marriage, even if she already has lost her virginity, she can still reinvent herself.
In this situation, I think Steve's advice would have been better if he told her not to sleep with him until then in case she was.
