  • Fleetwood Market has undergone a major refurbishment in recent years as part of the town’s High Street Heritage Action Zone programme.
The traditional Victorian market has had a sustainable heating system using air-source heat pumps installed, with electricity provided by solar panels, and new insulation added.
The cast iron gutters and rainwater pipes have also been replaced, and the market's interior has been redecorated to create a bright and attractive visitor experience.
Funded by Historic England, Wyre Council, UK Shared Prosperity Fund, and the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme, this project has helped secure a future for this historic building for decades to come.
Fleetwood’s High Street Heritage Action Zone was designed to create a natural gateway into the town centre, bringing more visitors from the market, the main draw for visitors to the town, and the seafront onto the high street.

I lived in Bolton for many years. They had a fantastic market and market hall and the council allowed it to be ruined. Hopefully Fleetwood will learn from the mistakes of others. It's a great draw for the town and unique in this area. Keep it traditional, it's what people love. Long may it prosper.

It was never the same after Peter Green left his key cutting stall.
