In my opinion, this was the peak of season 3 over the finale (and the entire show as a whole) Showing just how strong Homelander really is. Whooping soldier boy’s ass 1v1 and even held his own 1v2 and 1v3. Not sure a pure evil villain has ever been this likable in television history….
Also, funny how Annie says "You're teaming up with a murderer" as if the rest of the boys haven't killed people. Like, Frenchie has literally killed kids as confirmed by that episode, Butcher lives up to his name, Hughie has killed multiple people, MM was in the army and Kimiko is a literal living weapon who has peeled people's face off.
S1 E8 Annie rescues/teams up with the people she knows murdered translucent and murders several guards in the process. Annie is turning into an 'Elena Gilbert' type character, self-righteous hypocrite who spoils any good plan.

And starlights cringe floating scene in the last episode almost made me turn my tv off lol. MM and starlight going out of character when soldier boy was involved was hella weird too. I love this show and the 3rd season was good af. But it also has its bad pacing issues and dead end story pieces.

it still wouldn't matter as Homelander would still as how his scaling works, his speed would still be way too much but i guess the writers forgot about the speed aspect of Homelander, nothing was established for Butcher to be that fast elsewell just because he got temp-v, also nothing is stated that Soldier Boy gets severely weakened to the point he's too weak to fight especially his recovery rate to which he seemed fine after the chest blast...

I wonder if Soldier Boys blast would really take Homelander's powers. If I understand correctly, the blast burns up the V in their system. Spoilers ahead for later episodes. As we find out, Homelander wasn't injected with V like regular Supes. He is the son of a supe. So maybe the blast wouldn't have the same affect on a natural born super as it does on a created supe.

The thing I think your missing Alex is that aside from a big fuck off nuke blast, Soldier Boy's energy blast also erases compound v from the body of anybody that gets hit by it turning them from superhuman to plain old human. It's not a question of whether or not Homelander is durable enough to tank it, because that DOESN'T matter! If he gets hit by it he is depowered and is as good as dead anyway even if it doesn't do any damage to him.

When u get all caught up on the boys you HAVE to watch it he spin-off show Gen V. It’s set at the same time and is very much connected (and could possibly merge) with the boys. No spoilers but there’s also quite a few familiar faces in that show.
3x6 is my favorite episode of the whole show - and what I love about it is that for as hyped as it was, all the comics fans waiting for Herogasm the whole time - the orgy was like... just a backdrop for all the intense plot-relevant things that happened in this episode. That FIGHT I have rewatched so many times, totally EPIC 3v1 battle... and as simple as it is, Antony Starr's delivery of that soft little bewildered "WTF" when Butcher reveals his powers - one of my favorite line deliveries in the whole show! Speaking of Antony Starr and line delivery - he deserves ALL the awards for that Green Goblin mirror scene
I understand MM and Starlight's ideals. But their ideals get so impractical against supes. Like MM dafaq u gonna do with that gun on soldier boy. And yes Hughie is projecting hard, but Annie sometimes doesn't understand Hughie's pov either.

Even season 2 suffered from the writer's strike which made them drop whole plotlines and rewrite and shorten the season... and originally S2 was supposed to be all about totally new characters, a la "Lost", but fans understandably wanted to see what happened to the _old_ characters they knew and liked! Best to stick to Season 1 and pretend it ended there... even though Sylar still had some pretty interesting character arcs in later seasons and the ex-cop telepath only got his full powers in later seasons while he was pretty lame in S1. But they absolutely butchered Mohinder's personality in later seasons. And kept killing off Nathan for shock value. And depowered Sylar just to repower him again, and then get him mind-wiped, and then give him a redemption arc which I was happy with until it meandered around in the horrible "traveling circus full of supers" story arc. And the writers clearly didn't know what to do with whats-her-face the Wolverine-powers cheerleader after seasons 1, because her role had been written for that season and the actress sucked at playing superspy in later seasons. Or, for a fact, what to do with Hiro Nakamura and his OP "Master of Time and Space" powers once the tightly-plotted story arc of S1 was over; so they stuck Hiro in the past for an entire season. Not to mention they retconned the whole "eclipse" mythic explanation where random people suddenly got powers from in one night.

Herogasm, in the original comic, is a yearly "vacation" for Vought Supes. It's an orgy where sex of all types is a constant, drugs and alcohol of all types are freely available, and it's covered up as some type of massive team-up that needs to be *classified* from the public.
Something I like is the fact that it makes sense that the superheroes are bad at fighting superheroes. They never had to get good ad fighting when they until now have been the biggest and baddest around.
True. That is why Thanos easily whooped the Hulk's green ass at the start of MCU Infinity War. Because the Hulk, being the less brainy version of Bruce Banner a scientist, didn't actually know how to fight in terms of martial arts of tactical thinking because the Hulk had always relied on just smashing things. While Thanos was a trained warrior. Okay, the Hulk had learned a bit of primitive gladiatorial fighting during his time as champion of the Arena on the trash planet, but still. Both were the same size and durability and strength, so subtract that and you're left with a duel of a beefy guy with armour and sword fighting ability and a beefy guy who punches randomly.
LES GO! Ok so im 20 mins in and the thing about Butcher using the temp v is that his whole mantra is that no one should have it ever. Or I guess in a different way, its sinking to their level. Its betraying all of their (butcher and they boys) morality their principle and becoming the thing they hate the most for the "greater good" .
Well yes but how do you fight someone like that without power ? In particular when the thing which keeps him on leash ( his craving for love ) wears thin everyday . Having principle is a thing but when you have no other way you simply have no other way .
To quote Kosh's line to G'Kar in Babylon 5: "Some must be sacrificed so all are to be saved." Butcher is basically sacrificing himself and his principles because he considers himself already unredeemable.

If you enjoy the idea of superhero’s gone bad in a similar way to this, there’s a series of books called ‘The Reckoners’ written by Brandon Sanderson. It’s like if the supes in the boys didn’t bother to pretend to be the good guys. Book one is called Steelheart, named after the super who took over the city, and he’s very homelander-ish. I remember watching Danny Malt cover Herogasm before the boys started airing and I was so hyped. Then, I got the warning at the beginning of the episode and was scared. The Boys has almost, if not, never given a warning to an episode so I knew this would be good. For me, it wasn’t as good as the comic but the show is going in their own direction that I am blindly following.

3x6 is my favorite episode of the whole show - and what I love about it is that for as hyped as it was, all the comics fans waiting for Herogasm the whole time - the orgy was like... just a backdrop for all the intense plot-relevant things that happened in this episode. That FIGHT I have rewatched so many times, totally EPIC 3v1 battle... and as simple as it is, Antony Starr's delivery of that soft little bewildered "WTF" when Butcher reveals his powers - one of my favorite line deliveries in the whole show!
Speaking of Antony Starr and line delivery - he deserves ALL the awards for that Green Goblin mirror scene

You know, there is another old superhero show that you might be interested in after this... It's called "Heroes".

I loved the first and second seasons, but after that it went downhill FAST.

Even season 2 suffered from the writer's strike which made them drop whole plotlines and rewrite and shorten the season... and originally S2 was supposed to be all about totally new characters, a la "Lost", but fans understandably wanted to see what happened to the _old_ characters they knew and liked! Best to stick to Season 1 and pretend it ended there... even though Sylar still had some pretty interesting character arcs in later seasons and the ex-cop telepath only got his full powers in later seasons while he was pretty lame in S1. But they absolutely butchered Mohinder's personality in later seasons. And kept killing off Nathan for shock value. And depowered Sylar just to repower him again, and then get him mind-wiped, and then give him a redemption arc which I was happy with until it meandered around in the horrible "traveling circus full of supers" story arc.
And the writers clearly didn't know what to do with whats-her-face the Wolverine-powers cheerleader after seasons 1, because her role had been written for that season and the actress sucked at playing superspy in later seasons.
Or, for a fact, what to do with Hiro Nakamura and his OP "Master of Time and Space" powers once the tightly-plotted story arc of S1 was over; so they stuck Hiro in the past for an entire season.
Not to mention they retconned the whole "eclipse" mythic explanation where random people suddenly got powers from in one night.
Not alex leaving us on a cliffhanger like the boys did 😭😭😭

Herogasm, in the original comic, is a yearly "vacation" for Vought Supes. It's an orgy where sex of all types is a constant, drugs and alcohol of all types are freely available, and it's covered up as some type of massive team-up that needs to be *classified* from the public.
Something I like is the fact that it makes sense that the superheroes are bad at fighting superheroes.
They never had to get good ad fighting when they until now have been the biggest and baddest around.
True. That is why Thanos easily whooped the Hulk's green ass at the start of MCU Infinity War. Because the Hulk, being the less brainy version of Bruce Banner a scientist, didn't actually know how to fight in terms of martial arts of tactical thinking because the Hulk had always relied on just smashing things. While Thanos was a trained warrior. Okay, the Hulk had learned a bit of primitive gladiatorial fighting during his time as champion of the Arena on the trash planet, but still. Both were the same size and durability and strength, so subtract that and you're left with a duel of a beefy guy with armour and sword fighting ability and a beefy guy who punches randomly.

LES GO! Ok so im 20 mins in and the thing about Butcher using the temp v is that his whole mantra is that no one should have it ever. Or I guess in a different way, its sinking to their level. Its betraying all of their (butcher and they boys) morality their principle and becoming the thing they hate the most for the "greater good" .
Well yes but how do you fight someone like that without power ?
In particular when the thing which keeps him on leash ( his craving for love ) wears thin everyday .
Having principle is a thing but when you have no other way you simply have no other way .

Butcher is basically sacrificing himself and his principles because he considers himself already unredeemable.

If you enjoy the idea of superhero’s gone bad in a similar way to this, there’s a series of books called ‘The Reckoners’ written by Brandon Sanderson.
It’s like if the supes in the boys didn’t bother to pretend to be the good guys.
Book one is called Steelheart, named after the super who took over the city, and he’s very homelander-ish. It’s a lot of fun.

I remember watching Danny Malt cover Herogasm before the boys started airing and I was so hyped. Then, I got the warning at the beginning of the episode and was scared. The Boys has almost, if not, never given a warning to an episode so I knew this would be good. For me, it wasn’t as good as the comic but the show is going in their own direction that I am blindly following.

Ironically people trying to kill you in your dreams is usually a good sign. It means that you are battling yourself but it's also a significant sign of personal growth. I used to dream that people with guns were trying to kill me around the same time that I decided to reach out and speak to my father for the first time in years.
