He was an AUdi Works driver in the German Championship, German Rally Champion and did the legendary advertising clip driving an Audi 100 uphil the famous Ski-Jump at Holmenkollen in Norway in 1986/87. And still working as Audi Brand ambassador being allowed to drive these Group B monsters on various occasions.
Note that unknown to many, compared to Walter of course, Harald Demuth is a genuine Audi Factory Works driver with a long history and excellent results in European rallying.
This guy has some skills ok. But neverless that, remember the car has 4 wheel drive ans still was the best of its class back in the days... it's not any car that he's drivin'. Its THE S1... so that been said, it's a good drive, with a good driver. Nothing more. Put a more recent same powerish car next to that one and make it run the same race, pretty sure it'll come second to the newest... technology is here to help you go faster in corners and straights... nothing more nothing less
John Jerrehian all road going R-8’s are AWD only the GT3 race car is RWD, the difference is that this car was made for wet slippery narrow roads where the R-8 is made for more of a circuit... your dead right about gearing though!!

Mes compliments j'adore cette route je la connais comme ma poche on parle d'une route extrêmement hard plus de 360 virage pour arriver jusque à Arosa 15 ans en arrière elle était plus dangereuse quand même celui-là qui arrive à la faire en moins de 20 minutes (Chur / Arosa) avec une voiture normale, normal je dis entre 200 à 250 PS et pas du tout préparer pour la course il peut se dire qu'il est heureux d'être encore vivant 🤞

Because of the title, I also assumed that Röhrl drives here. But the longer I watched, the more I thought that's not the fine, precise, super-agile style of Röhrl, the drivingstyle here is sometimes fast, but too rough and inconsistent to be Röhrls.

Where did you see it was faster? It probably is if the R8 wasn't AWD and gearing was the same. the S1 had huge boost and short gearing. Awesome car.
