Hi ! Really nice footage! I'd like to know what mode should I use for my Zhiyun Crane 2 that i've got for vlogging and show my face walking just like you're doing! Thanks ^^
great video! for the vlogging walking and talking videos- did you set the focus manually or is the auto focus good enough still from the sigma lens through the speedbooster to your gh4? thank you!
Awesome footage!!! How are you finding the focus on it and the weight of the sigma? I'm looking to get the crane but otherwise have your exact setup - afraid to take the plunge.
Thank you so much! So for this video I would just adjust the focus before recording. But Zhiyun actually has a cable for $25 that connects the GH4 to the crane so that you can control the focus with a little control function on the crane itself. Pretty incredible! Here's a link to the cable on Amazon! --> a.co/jhe0iAE Also, you should definitely take the plunge. And consider getting the Sigma 14mm 1.8 when it comes out. It'll be the perfect lens for this rig. Hope this helps :)
hey bud! I have a problem that my camera (same setup as yours ) shakes a little up und down while walking with the setup.. do you have any tipp for me how to solve that prob? ;) Thank you very much!
I've found that using the crane's "follow mode" (double tap of the joystick) helps smooth out the shake a bit. Also using a bit of warp stabilizer in premiere can help as well!
Hey man, just recently discovered your channel and will be subscribing. Helpful video content and you bring a great energy and personality to it too. Keep it up! :)
Great videos, Zach! Just a quick note to people who watch this -- Zach's Zhiyun Crane model is the M or perhaps Version 1. I've purchased Version 2. One of the main differences between the two is the quick release plate. This matters because of weight distribution. If you follow Zach's instructions it works for M or Version 1; however, with Version 2 there is significant front weight because of the new plate's design; even if you push it back and follow Zach's balancing. Unfortunately, I have yet to figure out how to get it to balance but am thinking of adding a small weight to the hotshoe mount. I know this is no good for the motors but it's the only method I can think of to get more back weight. If anyone has other ideas, please let me know! PM or reply to this comment. Thanks again, Zach! It's still good info for those who purchase a Zhiyun Crane-M or Version 1.
Although i don't really like the 11-16mm for personal reasons that it probably a well-suitable choice for the gh4/zhiyun crane. It would weight out nicely :)
I just ordered the v2 and was wanting to get the sigma 18-36/speedbooster combo for it.. is there still no way around it with v2..why is the newer updated v2 that can take more weight natively unable to work so well? How is the weight vlogging wise with all that gear? Thanks!

Zachariah Mayfield can't wait! Got mine today and I really want to start using it. Got a shoot Wednesday! If you have time to shoot me a message that would be awesome!
how does the crane M (made for lighter mobile phones/compacts work with all that weight of the gh4, sigma etc combo yet the more powerful crane v2 doesn't work? thanks!
I was using manual focus for this! But Zhiyun makes a control cable that allows you to control the camera's focus. Just search "Zhiyun Control Cable" :) Thanks for stopping by the channel!

You’ve grown so much bro I remember coming back to this video because I have the same set up
great video! for the vlogging walking and talking videos- did you set the focus manually or is the auto focus good enough still from the sigma lens through the speedbooster to your gh4? thank you!
When using speed booster on the GH4 and GH5, I always use manual focus. The autofocus isn't reliable so I've just gotten used to manual!
Zachariah Mayfield I might as well get the cheaper (no af manual focus only) speebooster then..
Awesome footage!!! How are you finding the focus on it and the weight of the sigma? I'm looking to get the crane but otherwise have your exact setup - afraid to take the plunge.

Nithya Thayaal you can also shoot with a f8 or higher to get everything in the image sharp. hope that helps as well
Nithya Thayaal you're a smart man! I was shooting around f10 or f11 to be safe.
Hey, nice work. Did you attach via the metabones 1/4" thread or the GH4 1/4" thread?
I attached it to the GH4's 1/4"
I'm making a video in the next couple days to show exactly how I do it!
What Zhiyun Crane did you use? The Crane 2? Or the V2 Or the Plus? Or just the basic?
it looks okay. I have seen videos here on youtube with the same gear that looks incredible. how to decide?

I'm really glad you like my work and I appreciate the support!
🙏🏼 respect the growth
That was inappropriate, sorry I just have this growth mindset.......fuck. Stop talking about Zach’s growth geez 🍆
Bro I'm always wanting more growth on my body

Dietrich Nissen my god... if only this comment was here two days ago before I wasted my time :(
I'm so sorry man... Yeah I've heard some pretty disappointing stories about V2, sucks..
it's all good. I've decided to just keep it and use it with all my other lenses since 18-35mm is my heaviest one.
OpenGate Films Are you using native micro 4/3 lenses? I'm thinking of getting the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 for it but I'm not sure about the weight limit.
Although i don't really like the 11-16mm for personal reasons that it probably a well-suitable choice for the gh4/zhiyun crane. It would weight out nicely :)
So version 1 works with this set up and not 2? Will the heavier gh5 work with either? (Metabones + sigma 18-35????)
Version 1 works, version two apparently doesn't work so well. I have a GH5 now and it actually works really well!
I just ordered the v2 and was wanting to get the sigma 18-36/speedbooster combo for it.. is there still no way around it with v2..why is the newer updated v2 that can take more weight natively unable to work so well? How is the weight vlogging wise with all that gear? Thanks!
I have the same setup, but couldn't get it to balance right. How did you get it to work?
Ok just saw your video. Thanks!!!
Chopper Martinez awesome man!!
How much does the body speed booster and lens weigh?
I'm not sure, this video is suuuuper old
1550 grams total.
GH4 body with battery: 560g
Speedbooster Ultra .71: 145g
Sigma 18-35: 810g
Does the af works?
I have an Sony A6500 + MC11 + Sigma Art 18-35 1.8 and it did not work well with the Zhiyuncrane. Does not stabilize.
I'm really sorry to hear that man. Is it just too front heavy?
Sim. A lente Sigma projeta muito peso para frente. Já me aconselharam a usar um SmallRig.
Yes. The Sigma lens projects a lot of weight forward. I've been advised to use a SmallRig.
V2 is too front heavy with the sigma 18-35, unfortunately, I'm going to have to sell now.
Yeah I've heard that it doesn't handle well because of a different base plate or something. So sorry about that dude.
No worries, it's not your fault!

Please explain how you got it to balance! I'm struggling
Making a video on it very soon!

Hey man! Here's a link to my video where I show how to balance my setup! th-cam.com/video/dptab6m6vNQ/w-d-xo.html
Finding this video led me to so much frustration (be glad you didn't have to do the firmware update yourself) and then so much happiness. Thanks.
Hahah emotional roller coaster eh? Glad you got it sorted out!
Ayeee that's Westport!
Crane m or v2?
Crane m! V2 came out right after I bought mine -_-
Yah, I'd have gone with the M had I known. The V2 is being a pain to balance!
how does the crane M (made for lighter mobile phones/compacts work with all that weight of the gh4, sigma etc combo yet the more powerful crane v2 doesn't work? thanks!
i have a Q !! when You taking shoot the film Are u use the mf or af?
I was using manual focus for this! But Zhiyun makes a control cable that allows you to control the camera's focus. Just search "Zhiyun Control Cable" :)

Zachariah Mayfield Oh Thanks!!!
