Could you tell me what he is saying on the video - his manners are so sweet and lovely ❤ - King of Violinists - the Greatest of the Greats of all time...
i saw this video on a Japanese TV show long time ago because this was a rehersal of his concert in Japan. The sub coming up on screen a few times are Japanese, which interprets his Russian.
Yes, I've thought the same: a rehearsal for a concert in Japan in 1972. Do you know what he is saying, apart for thanking someone, to deem from his lovely expressions, it's something pleasant...
This is probably the most dramatic violin film of all time. It doesn't matter how many times you view it. It is always astounding. We are lucky someone kept the cameras rolling.
I would change the order - I say, like Yehudi Menuhin has said: David Oistrakh is the greatest. Menuhin added: Would it have been possible, I would have wanted to study for David Oistrakh. In my opinion - the Greatest of the Greats of all time, followed by Yehudi Menuhin - not to forget Ginette Neveu...
A studio musician, he never composed anything. Although a very good one! He received the Stalin prize, and as a part Jew (Oistrakh), it's odd that Stalin is portrayed as anti-semitic. ... or maybe Stalin had nothing to do with the " Stalin prize " ? Technically, he's not really 'a Jew', as Jewishness at the time, in it's condescending form, was raising a bowl of offerings to heaven, and a family household keeping an eye on the gold coin. As a profound musician, literati Etc. they were " not Jews " in the terminology of the time. Jewishness at the time basically meant " gold-digger ", which musicians & literatis Etc. were not.
0:41 This is a version I often return to - the greatest violinist of all time rehearsing, so lovely to hear and see this loveable person - and the sudden change of expression when he, after having thanked someone, again returns to the music... Would this have been a rehearsel for a concert in Japan 1972? Great to have it here ❤❤❤
By all accounts, a sweet and lovely man. Also a truly great artist. Many thanks for posting this. Best wishes.
Such beautiful eyes ❤❤❤
Snif...
Merci pour ce partage!
His eyes - mirroring a the beauty of David Oistrakh's heart and soul. This beauty shines out of his music ❤

OW .... MY ........... GOD.... this was just stunning
it carries incredible energies!
God, how he owns the violin!
Oistrakh at his height.
And the freedom we hear in this rehearsal--what a rare treat--and privilege.
Where was this shot?
I believe that it was at a rehearsal for a concert in Japan in 1972...

Unlike you, I grew up listening to Oistrakh... what a phenomenal violinist! Sigh...
