Doom 2 actually does have a pointer that ends the map when an enemy dies. Dwars was doing that Doom Dead Quick stuff for a bit and one of the people involved made a dehacked file that replaces player death scream with boss end or some such. Works for Doom 1 and Doom 2

Refreshing to see a final boss that's not just John Romero's severed head in a different package, or a cyberdemon--although I admit I am having trouble remembering the final boss of the last few WADs you played. On the whole, Valiant looks really cool and well put together, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna play it myself at some point. Maybe after I've exhausted the long list of other WADs I've already downloaded based on watching you play through them...
Eviternity had that Archangel that is like a combination of an archvile with a flying mancubus. And Sunlust had an almost 2000 monsters slaughter fest for a boss fight. All other Wads decino has played have typical Icon of Sin boss fights, I think.
Thanks Decino, for all 32 of your remarkable play-throughs of Valiant. I was playing the game on my side, using your videos as my guide. I died a million times but took inspiration from your great game-play to get myself up, dust myself off and pick up my super-shot gun to make it to this last map. it was a heck of a ride! Valiant is by far my favourite wad so far. And see you playing it, having fun and sharing your thoughts about it was really nice and fun. Thanks for the awesome series!
Excellent. Glad to see you complete another one. Was a pretty fun ride despite some tricky secrets and such along the way. Looking forward to what comes next!
After the pedestrian Red Shift, you get this. You asked for Archviles last time, so here you go, meet *Diablo* - the angriest archie of all. He has 10.000 hit points, zaps you thrice in sequence, is extraordinarily fast and like regular archies he can rez other demons. And I shit you not, he replaces the blue torch. The plasma orbs guarding him replace the marble altar with a beating heart. Yea, the credits roll is a bit more rudimentary than, say, Eviternity or Ancient Aliens. Not much to say, really. Next wad is a secret? Oh I hope it's something good and not like one of the Community Chests. (I'd watch you run it regardless~❤) I'm just glad you enjoyed Valiant, it's not uber-difficult but it's also so different and beautiful to look at.
And thus, the journey is over. And what a journey it was, from Earth through Hell and to the Moon! When decino announced he was going to play Valiant, I decided to play ahead so I could both watch his videos as they came out AND play the wad spoiler free. I am so glad I did that. It improved my viewing pleasure and also my playing experience. It would have been heartbreaking for me to attempt a map that decino had declared to be easy, only to have my but kicked. The way I did it, I could listen to decino's complaints without it influencing my playthrough. I quite liked episode 4. It's probably my least favourite of the wad, but I still enjoyed it enormously. It has everything that makes Valiant what it is: attractive visuals, interesting combat and memorable levels. I think that last part is what stood out the most to me: everything is just so memorable. After only one playthrough, I can remember every single map of the wad, and the order in which they appeared. No other wad has managed to do that for me. I am definitely going for another playthrough in the future.
Awesome WAD! It makes me want to learn how to make DOOM maps, but I'm quite sure I'd be making flat, boring ones. I better stick to admire those who make them right, and those who play them right. Thanks, decino.
The final boss was a genius touch and way better than any possible icon of sin fight. That was a big highlight of Valiant for me. However, having played Ancient Aliens not long prior to this too, I can definitely say that AA is the better WAD. I believe Skillsaw made that after Valiant and I can see how his mapping improved in it. I found myself too frustrated too often in Valiant to say that I thoroughly enjoyed playing it but definitely do appreciate the amazing effort and creative vision put into it. The earlier maps are where it is at its best for me. Your run was a fun watch too, decino. Thanks. 👍 🎃
There's two songs. The first one is the End Credits theme from Thunder Force 4, the one playing during the Super Vile fight is Antarctic from Gundam Wing: Endless Duel.
Now that/s more like it1 Fascinating to watch decino taking the measure of this map and once he has it then wham the irate archvile is toast. Most enjoyable megawad with only a few longeurs. I can't wait to see what decino has in store for us next!
Great playthrough Decino! You have really grown in commentary department during this WAD, showing more personality and humor. Keep it up! As for Valiant itself... I hate to be negative, because stuff like visuals, music, gimmicks are all top notch. Same for new enemies, love them. However at the end of the day, it's a video game and Valiant suffers from not having that many interesting encounters, it just has "filler enemies" as I like to call them. You know? Those filler enemies which are sprinkled between traps in many megawads just so it keeps the action going. Hell, even modern Doom games are like that. But here it feels like the traps are sprinkled between the massive hordes of filler enemies. Map 28, the one with lightbridges is basically what I am talking about. Great gimmick, beautiful map, amazing music and a bunch of random enemies just walking around. It's not even about challenge or difficulty even, it's about being at least interesting, creative or epic. It's just enemies chilling around in gigantic open spaces which are not designed for interesting fights with them. I still recall having a good time while playing it, but the feeling of combat being bland never left and it also didn't register in my memory at all, since while watching Decino play - I remembered the way the rooms looked, the gimmicks, the enemies, but never the fights itself. Sigh, I feel like I am being too harsh, but I even think that Doom 2 has better fight design.
Another awesome playthrough to follow, thanks! And a big thanks for making 'original' Doom fun again. Not just your playthroughs, but also your analysis vids. So informative and helpful. Hoping to see an auto aim analysis vid soon. I'm busy with Sunlust on HMP and getting absolutely wrecked. Your vids are a massive help! You've just got another subscriber. Here's to the next wad. Keep up the amazing work!
"Next WAD is a secret" Oh no, not the "last missing secret I search for ages" kind of secret, I hope :) Great job though, I really enjoyed all the series.
Well to be honest I wasn't expecting a red arch vile as a final boss but yeah really enjoyed watching this mod I really liked the map design monster placement so yeah all in all a well made mod. Cheers for the upload
Nice one decino! Another great WAD is finished and can't wait for another new adventure :) Maybe this surprise will be Plutonia 2 or Speed of Doom, but the most important thing is hope that u will be having fun as much as here or even more on future gameplays :)
So the next WAD you're doing has the enemies acting more fast you say? Possible fast monsters playthrough of something? That could be cool. My prediction is Alien Vendetta for the next playthrough, though that could be an issue with fast monsters maybe, idk. Really enjoyed this playthrough! I agree with the level design. Skillsaw's maps are awesome in that aspect, and all these cool little things he adds to them like those light bridges make the WAD super memorable. That Diabolist was a surprise the first time I played it, cause I was expecting an Icon of Sin per usual. Had a total "Oh, crap" moment when I see a floating Archvile in front of me instead.
I thought Decino was going to be the first doomer/doom-streamer to win the red without dying damn ... Had so much fun with this series, please keep going, maybe Sunders side project? Is only what? 21 maps?
Almost every single map in Sunder would be an 1 hour per episode miniseries each, with several episodes per map. It has at least 3 or 4 maps that are specifically designed to take at least 6 hours each. I honestly cannot imagine how someone other than Doom gods of the stature of Okuplok or Zero Master could be capable of finishing those beasts single segment. And it's only up to map 19 yet! At this rate map 30 will end up making Holly Hell look tiny by comparison.
Sorry for mentioning other channel. There are quite interesting Sunder walkthrough videos on Arbys550 channel - th-cam.com/channels/91rZQ21CIZCCGAUAaVtgRQ.html Although, not a single segment yet.
@@wallyhackenslacker Totally true, yet really entertaining i guess wouldn't you agree?, Maybe Decino could stream this attempts and the edit a video if he actually does finish a Sunders maps single segment. I truly believe Decino has become a stronger Doom player that what we realize, particularly after hi# Evilternity and Sunlust playthrough?, He could totally tackle Sunders single segment map by map, hell, even i can do it and i dont consider myself a "doom god", what i do is that i study TAS and playthrough to detail then just repeat until i do it...it would be awesome to see Decino do the same, even the "study other people playthrough" part, which i am sure he already does anyways as we all do. Its entertaining for me at least, tho there are a LOT of kore casual and fun wads that are better content, maybe he can surprise us with a Sunder video every 2 months or so.
well that went out with a bit of a whimper. Overall though I really enjoyed the playthrough of that wad and that's another song to add to the sub special map playlist ;-) Nice job decino!
I loved this WAD all the way through, I will never forget it and its aesthetics. All of it's new textures and enemies were especially awesome. I hope it comes to console ports, thatd be epic.

Although my boyo KILLA seems to think that the project's very well known at this point, despite the fact that most people ask what the heck Doom -1 is.

Thank you for the Show decino! Hoping to see more later!
Thanks. 👍 🎃
Ah.. Another megawad in the bag! I've enjoyed this playthrough sir decino!
Looking forward to many more in the future you absolute legend! ;-)
yet another awesome series by my main man decino...thanks as always! looking forward to the mystery WAD coming soon
Good music and a good job of showcasing the entire lot of it.
Enjoyed this play through very much, and your channel as a whole. Never miss a video! Can’t wait for your next series
Thanks for bringing us on another awesome journey. Can't wait for the next adventure!
What a ride. I can't wait for the next mod though.
"Next WAD is a secret"
Oh no, not the "last missing secret I search for ages" kind of secret, I hope :)
Great job though, I really enjoyed all the series.
Great conclusion for another great series. Thanks mate.
I thought Decino was going to be the first doomer/doom-streamer to win the red without dying damn
... Had so much fun with this series, please keep going, maybe Sunders side project? Is only what? 21 maps?
Sunder is not finished yet and will have 32 maps. I will livestream Sunder in the near future.
There are quite interesting Sunder walkthrough videos on Arbys550 channel - th-cam.com/channels/91rZQ21CIZCCGAUAaVtgRQ.html
Although, not a single segment yet.
I'm playing this now on "Hey, not too rough". You make this boss look easy.
well that went out with a bit of a whimper. Overall though I really enjoyed the playthrough of that wad and that's another song to add to the sub special map playlist ;-)
Nice job decino!
Nice meeting the Diabolist. That red zappy boye was definitely interesting to see as a boss fight.
Every map of this wad looks awesome!
I loved this WAD all the way through, I will never forget it and its aesthetics. All of it's new textures and enemies were especially awesome. I hope it comes to console ports, thatd be epic.
Doom -1 will be finished in October, you should check it out
Excuse you?
It's a community project I believe, one boi published a map which anyone could modify, and the thing went out of control (in a good way...?), a lot of people's working on it.
Although my boyo KILLA seems to think that the project's very well known at this point, despite the fact that most people ask what the heck Doom -1 is.
@@alanruzich9625 I'm looking forward to it. I've seen the thread and read a few of the posts on the first page, but decided I want to be completely surprised, so I stopped checking in almost as soon as the project gained steam. I definitely think it's a really cool idea!
Is there a "Doom 0"?
Very enjoyable, fun playthrough. See you next WAD
Guess it's time for some Speed. Some Doom Speed. The Speed at which Doom plays
its gonna be PLUTONIA 2
AHA! my instinct was right! ^^
Exited to see what you play next
"Next WAD is a surprise" i wonder if its Pet the Cacodemon xD
Successful run at 06:30
Valiant seems great! As you say, the amount of work they did is really huge. There is a great attention to the details, and I really appreciate it. Most of all, I appreciate your videos a lot! Thanks for this channel, it's really great!
Enjoyable as always, decino! Keep us posted!
Good wad, great videos but most importantly epic content as always.
Congrats mate, glad you enjoyed Valiant ;)
11:19 - No, _Epica_
(Sorry had to do this)
In any case, epic playthru!
come on guys we need to get Decino up too 100,000 subscriber so we can see him take on brutal doom or project brutality as he did promise hahah would love to see another slaughter map from you Decino or BTSX Ep2 on the side now valient finished. great vids and keep up the awesome work deffo my favourite channel
That'll be torture. Not looking forward to it.
Amazing song. Great videos ducino. Cant wait for next one.
Awesome, can't wait for the next WAD!
to the last archvile: you really think you can take on doomguy? no you can't. wait NO WHAT ARE YOU DO- BAM!
This is the toughest blue torch i (or anyone has) have ever fought.
I don't know, the original blue torch is indestructible. But then again, probably not a lot of people had tried to fight it
@@alexeyvlasenko6622 that is true, i guess i should have said one that can fight back
Last map: "Nooo I want more archviles."
This map: "How about I just give you the one?"
Nice! Final map of Valiant.
Another wad in the bag. Looking forward to your next one (and hoping it is Going Down or BTSX E2, now that it's out of beta).
EDIT: Yes, haggard is a word. It describes the way one looks when they've been sleep deprived. It's also the name of a band that mixes metal with classical music, whole orchestra and all. I tell you, seeing them live was quite the experience.
Congrats on beating Valiant! It's been one hell of an adventure! I'm surprised at how soon you uploaded this, because I'd just finished watching your playthrough of map 29. I loved that souped-up Arch-Vile as the final boss, but I think it's a shame they didn't flesh this level out as much.
I think on the end text screen they meant to say "Haggard". :P
