I used to work at Hobby Lobby and they explained to me that they sell the stuff so early because people who make products for craft shows have to get the supplies early enough to make wreaths or clothes or whatever they sell at craft shows, fairs, markets, etc. As a shopper, it stresses me out to see the seasons change so early, but it’s also nice because by the time that season has already started, the items are going on sale!
I never thought of it that way. This makes a lot of sense about the crafters.

A story told in our family numerous times was when my grandma was young she worked at a job where she needed to take the bus at like 5 am. One morning it was dark and she was late so she was running and up ahead she saw a big puddle and thought I don’t want to get my heels wet so she ran around it. Turns out it wasn’t a puddle but the round sewer cover had been removed, leaving just a big hole! Can you imagine thinking you were just gonna be a little wet and then down in the sewer you’d go! 😱
As a fan of movies, and a nerd who loves lord of the rings, Star Wars, etc. this episode hurts to watch, but is so hilarious listening to you guy try to know anything about these movies

I GOT A REAL QUESTION FOR JAKE:
I feel like you’re really good at talking to people you don’t know and making them feel comfortable around you with all the interactions you have with fans, etc. What are some good questions to ask people you’re small talking with? Good lines of convo to start with someone new at church or small group? Something to make them feel comfortable and feel like they’re not just being small talked to?

Like many, I found this channel from Correct Opinions and Jean Shorts. But in my case it was unwillingly...Ghostrunners was in my youtube suggested videos for about a month. Every time I saw the thumbnails, I thought they were lame. Especially the bachelor party "Jake's uncle" with an arrow pointing to a middle aged man jumping in a pool thumbnail. One day at work I was connected to my Bluetooth, nearly out of range, and Ghostrunners came on autoplay. It was the episode where Timon said Horses are the best smell. That's it, I was in.
I love y’all, but the blind Star Wars trivia made me die a little inside 😂 All I’ll say is, let ‘em watch!
Loved how off the rails Shmores got & was impressed by the amount of trivia you could answer about movies you haven’t seen. Clearly fantasy/superhero is not the genre you guys enjoy. 🤣 Would love to hear a Shmores of your favorite comedies! And my goodness Timon, watch Remember the Titans & Dumb & Dumber! 😊 All the other ones mentioned I’ve seen & don’t think you’re missing much. Lol.

So in the early 2000s I remember going to the drive-in with my family to watch ET. It was some special showing for the 20th Anniversary. I think that was the first and last time I watched that movie!
Brad, Jurassic Park will be so fun to watch with your kids in a few years! We did that with our kids and it was so fun to watch something we all could enjoy that wasn't a cartoon.

Timon, I don’t know if it was this episode or the previous with you guys talking about Newsies but we saw it tonight at New Theater Restaurant and SANTA FE was incredible. People who sell crafts at craft fairs, Etsy, etc frequent Joann’s and they are crafting for fall now. Not sure if anyone else answered this for you… Hobby Lobby has Christmas stuff out now for the same reason. Months of prep is required for the seasons ahead of time. And if you’re a slow crafter like me who only does it in tiny pockets of time, you need all year to prep for Christmas gifts 😅

Ugh. Jake, I have trouble starting a book because I want to finish it once I start. I have read books all in one sitting before…as things crumble around me. 🤷♀️
LOTR movies are amazing, the books are incredible. If you like to read long books then read them (or listen on audiobook!) there is so much rich goodness in those books but just to point out one example: the way Tolkien wrote deep brotherly love between men is an beautiful thing to behold especially in a time in our society when it’s hard to see what authentic, platonic, love can look like. It really impacted me to read those books! A reminder to be the kind of friend who everyone can completely rely on no matter what happens!

The movies you haven't seen is painful to listen to... So many great movies you've missed. Brad - IF you only watch one between Jurassic Park or Interstellar, PLEASE watch JP! It's my favorite movie. Interstellar is a letdown of weird dimensions. JP is a great thrilling movie, not just about dinosaurs but following fun characters through the adventure.
Monty Python is one of those movies that is funnier each time you watch it. It's really not that funny the first time.

TIMON I LOVE SPIRTED AWAY - amazing movie, I love all of Studio Ghibli's stuff, my personal favorite is From Up on Poppy Hill. Although whenever you tell people it's Japanese they like freak out (brad??) and I have to explain its not anime its Japanese animation. There's a difference. 😂

Not getting into silly sci-fi stuff like Star Wars, Star Trek, etc is one thing. Keeping yourself from Lord of the Rings just because it’s popular is silly, especially for Christians. Fantastic symbolism and epic hero’s tale. Watch it and don’t tell anyone. Just watch it to enjoy.

Pausing movies or shows? I DESPISE when I'm watching by myself and there's 10 minutes or less, and family member comes home and I have to pause! Ruins the ENTIRE watching experience!
New Ghostie here-listened to a handful of episodes so now I'm heading 5 years and some 350 episodes back to the beginning. An unmarried Jake just moved to KC. Hattie is 2. Y'all are writing Laffy Taffy jokes for $250, and don't have comments yet-a different time. You did talk about movies you hadn't seen though (The Notebook, It's a Wonderful Life, and the Avengers)!
I hope by the time I catch up, Brad has watched LOTR, at least the first one to try. I saw them as an adult who doesn't like fantasy and I'm a fan. The classic hero's tale, the comprehensive but followable world-building, the character development-throw in the score, the super-detailed-all-New-Zealand settings and craftsmanship, minimal CGI, and finally the strong and profound Christian allegories-it all sets the movies apart from other fantasies. So many scenes throughout the series will choke you up. Hope you give it a shot! See you sometime in the future. 🫡
