- Nightly at Cars Land in Disney California Adventure, the neon along Route 66 while Sh-boom plays in the background. We showcase some of the neon and other night lighting effects around Cars Land.
This is the actual music that plays on Route 66 during the nightly lighting "moment." We've synched the video to exactly match the theme park audio through :40. Notice how the "Z"s in the Cozy Cone sign blink exactly in time to the music.
After :40, we added additional angles of the neon and other lighting effects around Cars Land.

I didn't realize this was a nightly thing where Sh-Boom came on and the lights as well.
Though I entered Cars Land for the first time from A Bug's Land, just as Sh-Boom was halfway over, and even then, a smile spread on my face, and I started bopping to the music.
This is my dream. I grew up watching "cars" all day long and i want to see the light up with this song. I will cry😂

Amazing. They nailed all the detail-- not only making it look not just faux-vintage, but real 1940s and 1950s vintage, in the film, replicating the feel and vibe of old neon signs, but also replicating them all in real life, right down to using real neon and getting the animated signs right. The only thing that could make it any more perfect would be recreating the lighting sequence at dusk from the film, and, why, they've done that, too, including having different sections of signs come on at various times as if old transformers are buzzing to life, complete with the proper music.
Between this and Buena Vista Street, I think Disney is clearly showing that the cheapness of original California Adventure wasn't a sign that they've completely lost the knack for really immersive environments. They just cheaped out, at a time when the bigwigs were cutting corners. Now that they're allotting proper development, design and construction budgets, Disney is back on top again.

Excited to see this! I've done a road trip down old Route 66 and Cars has always reminded me of the good times on that trip. The neon lights remind me of Tucumcari, New Mexico.
Oh yes Tucumcari is awesome and I always stop there when I’m on my way to Logan, NM to visit Ute Lake which is 24 miles upward on Highway 54.

I grew up with "Cars", my favorite scene was ALWAYS the Neon Lights part, this is one of my dreams, to go to Cars Land.
We were at Disneyland with my son's High School music department. This was one of the coolest things

Memories. it reminds me of the family vacations my dad took our family on. My moms 4 door 59 Biscayne wagon pulling a trailer, going through Az. on Route 66, loved the neon signs. Biggest memory was going to a drive in theatre and you had to drive down into a kind of canyon. They projected the movie on the silver or whitewashed canyon wall.

Some of its is real inspiration from various places along the historic highway in Kingman, AZ, Seligman, AZ, Gallup, NM, Santa Rosa, NM, Tucumcari, NM, Adrian TX, Amarillo, TX, Elk City, OK, Edmon OK, & many along the historic Route 66.

Say what you want about Cars but Cars Land is awesome. It’s Radiator Springs given life and flesh. It takes a lot of effort to replicate everything just like the movie in person.
