- How to cook jasmine rice perfect every-single-time? Well, that’s real simple. Get the perfect rice to water ratio. I have shared tips and tricks to make perfectly cooked jasmine rice.
Prep Time: 1 minute
Cook Time: 12 minutes
Rest Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 4 cups
Ingredients
▢1 cup Thai jasmine rice
▢1 ¼ cup water
Instructions
1. If you choose to rinse rice, rinse until water in the bowl is clear.
2. Add rinsed rice to medium stainless steel sauce pan along with water.
3. Bring it to rapid simmer on medium high heat. You should see water bubbles tripling in the pan.
4. Cover pot with glass lid. Reduce heat to low and cook for 12 minutes undisturbed. Avoid the temptation to open lid and check.
5. Remove pan from the burner and let it rest on counter for 10 minutes without disturbing.
Note: It’s important to let cooked rice rest for about 5 to 10 minutes before you open lid and stir. This will help rice absorb all moisture and cook to soft texture.
6. Open lid. Gently fluff rice with silicone or rubber spatula.
Note: check video, rice is not stuck to the pan at the bottom without any need for oil.
7. Use cooked jasmine rice in any THAI dishes or serve it as side dish with other favorite meals.

I was going insane trying to get this right. I’m glad rice is inexpensive. I think it worked.
How beautifully your strainer was sitting at the rim of the bowl. Made my day. 🥰
I dont know how to thank you for this method.... For the first time my rice came out perfect!!! Thank you so much dear ...
I'm Mexican, and I never thought I would learn how to cook rice like this, it was delicious, thank you. 🫡
I just tried this and it worked perfectly! My first time cooking jasmine rice in a pot. Thank you!
Yay, so glad to hear you loved the recipe. Thank you for sharing your feedback
I just cooked the most perfect rice I've ever cooked in my life, thanks to you! And I don't own a rice cooker.
Only difference, I saw another video (by Magic Food titled "It is a big mistake to only add water to cook rice. Let me teach you the secret that the hotel does") which recommended adding a small amount of salt or rice vinegar or lard to the rinsed rice before cooking (and they used a rice cooker). Instead, I melted a tsp of salted butter and mixed it into the cup of rinsed rice before adding 1-1/3 cups water and cooking. I also didn't bring the rice to a rapid simmer first before covering, lowering heat and cooking for 12 minutes. I put the lid on immediately and left it on medium heat the entire time and just watched as the glass lid steamed up. I forgot to time exactly how long I cooked it, but when I could no longer see water at the top of the rice and just the rice raised up nicely in the pot, I removed the lid to take a quick look and it looked just right. I quickly replaced the lid, removed it from the heat and let it stand for 10 minutes. It is the most perfect, fluffy rice I've ever cooked. Didn't stick to the pot at the bottom, not the least bit sticky and each grain separate. I moved it to a large, wide bowl and now I'm going to use it to make egg fried rice. Wish me luck. I'll let you know how it turned out.
Did it a second time. Cooked covered at medium heat the whole time (this time no butter). It took 12 minutes. Let stand 12 minutes. Rice didn't stick and turned out perfect again. Thank you so much!
I add a bit of sun flower oil to the boiling water and to give it more flavor i ad onion shells which i remove after the rice is done
I did exactly what you advised n my rice came out perfect..really fluffy too ❤
Yay, so thrilled to hear you tried and loved the recipe. Thank you very much for sharing your feedback!
I always appreciate use of the word "thrice"
😂
Quadrice
It came out perfectly. Thank you!
I'm so glad to hear that, thank you!
Simple and Perfect Method, Consultations sister...
I like that just getting to the point and cutting the chase
thank you
literally perfect.
Thank you for a simple video I see what I was doing wrong 😅
I'm so glad to know the video was helpful!
Is 1 1/4 cup or 1 1/3 cup of water ?
The description box and video has different measurement of how much water is needed.
THANK YOU
Thank you for this video 🙏🏽
Worked like a charm! Thank you!
Yay! I'm so glad to hear you loved the recipe! Thank you for sharing it here, happy cooking. Enjoy.
What does rinsing it do?
Removes the excess starch that makes rice gummy if you cook without rinsing
Hi 👋🏼
The description says 1 1/4 cup water but the video says 1 1/3 cup water. Which is it?
11/3
It works :)))))
Glad it worked for you, thank you.
thanks
Airnya dilebihin ya? 1 beras + 1 1/3 air.
what does the video say?
Idk why washing rice is “optional”. Should be a MUST!
Some don't prefer to wash/rinse rice.
Is this stick together like calrose rice or seperates like basmati?
Jasmine rice is usually sticky compared to basmati rice. Depending on the rice it will cook, it close to calrose rice.
@@JyothiRajesh thank you very much
Every single time it stucks to the bottom of the pan despite how low is the heat! I'm so frustrated!!!
I would add butter
thanks for the tip, will try next time
What does 1 1/3 cup mean?
1 cup and 1/3 cup of water
No salt 👏👍
So how much does cook time change if I want to make 2 or 4 cups of rice?
Cooking time does not really change even if the recipe is doubled. It's the measurements that need to be adjusted.
So how many cups of water for 3 cups of rice? If you put 1 1/3 cups of water,do we just times that for 3 cups? It looks like you have a lot of rice but only used 1 1/3 cups only
@@roshandawalton8 For every 1 cup of Thai jasmine rice use 1 ¼ cup of water
Very hard to find this rice in mumbai
you can try online, amazon will have it
So it's just rice then?
hello ratio water 1:1?
This ratio works for me
1 cup Thai jasmine rice
1 ¼ cup water
Note- I always rinse rice before cooking
@@JyothiRajesh But in the video you put 1 1⁄3 cup water
@@JyothiRajeshconfusing cause in the vid you wrote 1 1/3 of water, pls clarify tysm💕
I wish TH-cam wouldn't show recipes in cups!
Trying to convert these measurement into metric as I only ever have to cook for 1, but it's making my head hurt and I now feel stupid.
💞Wow💜💜💜💜💜💗💗💜
My rice came out mushy ;(
Sorry you have issues, can you tell me what type of rice you use and if you changed anything in the recipe!
Needed to do 8 4 inch hotel pans .Morning shift was a disaster with in mine was a bit better.
I have been putting too much water mine.
Would recommend using a rice cooker for perfect result every time
obviously this is for if u dont have one
I did exactly as this says.....just did double on the recipe. My rice isn't done.
sorry to know you had trouble. Could you please let me know if you rested the rice covered after cooking?
Yes. I rested it. Just had to add more water and let it cook another 10 min
@@AM-dm1plSometimes I have opened the lid while cooking for even just one second, and the result changes dramatically, resulting in dryer and less cooked rice. It is crucial to keep a tight lid on at all times.
@AM-dm1pl Thai rice is the hardest rice to cook because it is very starchy/sticky, so don't feel bad about getting it wrong. The rinsing rice part is very important. Removes extra starch that would thicken water. Thick water slows rice cooking speed = underdone rice.
It was probably your lid that was the problem though. The rice steam cooks the rest of the way with the lid on. You want it to be quite tightly sealed. The ladies one is probably good enough as it is. Perhaps heavier and better sealed around the edges, no vent hole. The rice won't cook get hot enough if too much steam gets out. Wrap a tea towel around your lid covering all the edges, then place it on the pot as you would normally. Weird I know but it seals everything quite well while gently letting some out.
The method I originally learned for cook regular rice was to rinse, add same amount of water as rice, bring to boil on high (no longer than 20 seconds) and pop a wrapped lid on straight away, then turn heat right down to the lowest and cook for just 10 min. Boil too long and you'll have lots of sticking at the bottom. Obviously wrap the lid first before it boils. Timing is critical and you may have to experiment with a little extra water, especially with Thai rice which is thirstier.
I've tweaked it myself
OK... But where's the Jasmine???
You’re a cutie! Nice rice too
I don’t watch non talking shows
Don't watch it then
Your not suppose to wash rice. It says it in any rice you buy.
🧐 but it says to rinse before cooking in my brown rice packaging
The debate to rinse or not to rinse rice never settles. I ALWAYS rinse rice. Rinsing by gently scrubbing rice with your fingertips not just removes dirt but also the excess starch. The cloudy water you see when you rinse rice is starch and we want to remove the excess starch which will prevent the rice from becoming gluggy.
I’m gonna rise but thx for the opinion
You should rinse it its dirty.
You need to rince the rice for 2 reasons: 1)- is dirty
2)- you need to wash the rice because of the amidon, this will help the rice not to stick.
You’re welcome 😂
