    Stop allowing the homeless to ride metro all day as alternative housing……seriously

      This story is staged inside the bus. Normally, you get a politician with cameras. You everyone inside looking and giving their 2¢. Everyone on this bus doesn't even turn to look.

    You media outlets need to realize that people have MORE THAN ENOUGH to be afraid of. Homeboy literally said at 1:57 "on buses, violent crime is 5 times LESS likely" then it fasts cuts to the woman interviewed saying "and that's SO disturbing" - what??? Bro you just reported evidence that there is NOT a crimewave on the metro right now. And sure the redline is higher, but by how much? The numbers in this are low, and you rushed through the little bit of information that was reported.
    This kind of reporting shouldn't be entertainment - this is about people's lives and sanity. Most times, the sense of 'threat' on metro is from people in a mental crisis. Usually they are "in their own world" but the unpredictable intensity of mental breaks causes fear and suspicion from others. Then the whole metro just feels scary and uneasy. News reports like this don't help that sense of suspicion. You give BIG emphasis to a handful of sensational incidents - then drop crumbs of statistics in a way that overblows the situation. Enough already!

    The only reason crime is going down is it's not being reported by the Police. LAPD avoids taking reports

      That, and they've literally changed the definitions of some of the crimes. What used to be a felony is now called a misdemeanor.

    • @pinhead35
      @pinhead35 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The only reason why crime on metro is going up is because police are reporting it. Metro’s been forcing LAPD/LASD/LBPD/Transit Police and security to take reports.

    There aren't enough cops in the entire county to ride every bus, secure every bus stop, ride all trains and subways, man every subway station and train platforms, etc. What the reporter is suggesting is impossible. There would be no one available to patrol the streets and respond to emergency calls. Although, an increase in police presence is necessary, it is not the solution if the DA and the judges continue to release criminals back onto the street to reoffend. The reporter should interview them as well.

    • @mrxman581
      @mrxman581 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That's why the focus needs to be on hardening the fare gates. 90% of crimes on the LA Metro are committed by fare evaders.

    I can't stop thinking about these folks just trying to ride the bus to get to work and have to be stuck in the middle of this interview happening around them. They are just living their life and this news reporter and some nepo executive sit around and gawk and make comments about everything. Everybody is trying to ignore them. dude is just trying to eat some cheetos over there; he didn't sign up for this awkwardness.

      LA Metro is one of the most affordable Metro systems of any large city in the US.
      They need to start by installing fare gates at all LRT stations. Many of the older stations still don't have them.

    Janice Hanh is out of touch and clueless based on this video. A lot of the questions asked in this video are just ridiculous, "when I was riding by myself I didn't see a single deputy, is that something you need to change?" The police shouldn't be on every bus/train, there's not enough police for that. Do the little things: fare enforcement, kick people off if they are sleeping for hours, making a mess. Call the police when they are needed and actually do something about the problems. Adding police to every vehicle is just a band-aid and isn't feasible.

    But Karen Bass said metro was safe....Yet another DEI failure. Speaking of DEI hire Sheriff Luna is another one. Further, if Hahn wants to really "see" the truth then she needs to ride it by herself, alone, with no security or camera crew. I mean seriously. Isn't it funny that the person that was the head of security for metro that was "fired" for speaking out several months ago proposed that people who don't pay should not be able to ride? Humm....

      LA Metro will have their own force by 2025. They will no longer use LAPD, LASD, and LBPD.
